I made this compilation in hopes of making it easier for people to find all of these stories. Please feel free to share a link with your favorite Jim Herrington fan.

Around 1980 or so, I had breakfast with Johnny Paycheck. I was working as a carpenter on a big remodel job at the Holiday Inn in Longview Texas. For some reason I was in the restaurant early on a Sunday morning. JP and I were the only ones there other than the waitress and cook. There was a breakfast buffet and as I walked past him, I casually said,”mind if I join you?” He said “please do.” I did and we had good conversation for about a half an hour or so. There was no awkwardness or pretense whatsoever. He was just a regular guy and seemed very down to earth.

Mr. Gibbs, I want to thank you for reminding me that I love country music. I'm a classic rock, metal head from way back and for many years I would say "I don't like country music" and your channel helped me remember how foolish and dumb I was. Granted Im not a fan of modern country but you helped me remember the days of watching Hee Haw with my folks and listening to John Denver, Tom T. Hall and Johnny Cash with my dad. Thru you I've discovered real country like Townsend Van Zant, Blaze Foley, John Prine, and Billy Joe Shaver. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart and realizing where my soul truly lies.

Glad another has returned to the fold. I, like you, rejected country (the whole aesthetic) because I felt it was hokey and ignorant....and while some is....modern in particular. Country is, in it's best form, pure salt of the earth people music telling the stories and telling the truth.

Thats how its done. We should always remember the music we heard as kids. Whether we like it or not is our own choice.

Just absolutely remarkable. Such amazing stories and an amazing storyteller in Jim Herrington. I'm relatively knew to all of Otis Gibbs's videos and I feel I need to take a few months off from work to properly digest their contents.

One of my favorite guests! Of course I remember Parade magazine! Even as a six-yr-old, I couldn’t wait for the Sunday paper to see what the feature story would be. Wonder if there’s updates to some of the stories?
