You know what is the irony? The game they showed is called Nexuiz, or, if it was recorded recently - Xonotic. It was built on Darkplaces engine, which is a Quake 1 (Not 3) on steroids, with modern features. The system requirements for it are extremely low for modern PC's, you don't have to own a beast to get 200 fps even on some old crappy office computers. The question i'm trying to ask here: HOW THE FUCK DID THEY ACHIEVED 4 FPS???

GPL code can be used in commercial products, it just means that you have to ship the source.
@SonicBoone567 жыл бұрын
Jock Murphy I mean, Red Hat uses GPL all the time yet make lots of money. Other ways to make money than software alone.
@mipmipmipmipmip5 жыл бұрын
Yeah so the open source argument in this video isn't very well thought out. Open source is super succesful in most commercial software engineering. The whole internet runs on open source and the top earning companies continuously release open source code. The large userbase is the best way to create complex platforms. A lot of games will use open source elements in the background. Doesn't affect the commercial potential of your product if you have to add in your release that you use some open network stack.
@Ianstuff20235 жыл бұрын
So? That doesn't change the fact that they were lying and saying that the game console wrote those games by itself with AI who cares about the GPL has nothing to do with it
@stigrabbid5895 жыл бұрын
@@mipmipmipmipmip Not only that, but all major Operating systems nowadays include Open Source software of some sort. Microsoft made the .Net Framework open source a few years back, and also made Windows Powershell open source (and people ported Powershell to Linux because of that), so Windows 10 includes open source software that Microsoft made, and it also includes open source codecs such as FLAC and OGG audio codecs. Mac OS includes a customized version of the open source font rendering engine, FreeType, and has a lot of other open source tech. FreeType is also used in iOS, Android, Linux, BSD, and the operating systems that both the PS3 and PS4 use. Google has a webfont service named Google Fonts which is made up of exclusively open source typefaces. Many well known companies have made and/or commissioned Open Source Typefaces, including Microsoft, Mozilla, Red Hat, IBM, and Google for a few examples. Firefox is open source, Google Chrome's engine is open source and Google also made a fully open source Chrome variation named Chromium. Open Source is a big part of the Future of computing, as well as the present.

The Turing Test is done as an assessment in some computer science courses. Normally as a group you create a text based AI and at the end they are tested in the scenario with your grade being dependent on how long it can keep the guesser convinced it is human. If they can't distinguish or get it wrong after X amount of time you get top grades.

Thing about the turing test I would say to find out who is who is not find where the robot where fail but find where the human would fail. Humans are kind of the flaw in that test. Unless the computer is going to purposfully delay itself to appear more human but that gets more into deception.
@StopDropRetro6 жыл бұрын
But some people make seemingly mechanical errors where they interpret something too literally or don't consider an important factor. It happens all the time whereas it's very rare to see a computer seem human. So if we looked for the human failure we would be getting false flags everywhere.
@dark6661056 жыл бұрын
No I meant more like ask for calculations just about no human would be able to do on the fly. If they answer quickly, most likely an AI. Unless they deceptively delay to make it seem like they are more human.

I had some free time to walk the room, check on video displays, gauge the complementary wifi and the like. Being a gamer, his setup caught my eye. At the time, he had the Android console. The guts were housed in a black box worse in fabrication than a Parkinson's patient with a bent Dremel tool could have constructed. He was running a broken AOSP, and I tried to advise him on how to better compile the source and do something tighter. It was Android x86 set to boot on a lower-end computer board. Not surprised he ended up here.

"I can create games" Anybody with even a basic grasp of how programming works would know how full of crap that statement is.
@kodekristian6 жыл бұрын
Actually, not really. When we one day manage to create a genuine, self-evolving AI, it could well learn to make games. Anything a human can learn, it would be able to learn, and as long as the action doesn't require an actual body, it would be able to do it much more efficiently than a human ever could. An entire game studio could easily be taken over by a single AI, which could create hundreds of completely original games in the time humans would take to make a single one, without loss of quality or imagination. We are still a long way from such a scenario, but still, once the flood gates open, anything a human brain can do, a machine will be able to do, only better.

you mention already existing virtual assistants when talking about the turing test well I tried, and on the lastest version of windows, if you ask cortana if she can pass the turing test she just brings up the wikipedia page, literally the same thing

Fast forward to now, and you can get consoles from China (like the Super console X cube 3) that have up to 117,000 games from numerous consoles that take you retro without the expense. This OTON X looked doomed before it got started. Great video!

I am really curious where they found the enclosures for the EVO and the OTON? OTON one looks very much like a Modem/Router enclosure
lol so they didn't use any original game footage? cuz that 90s style shooter is xonitc/nexuiz.

Yeah, I later saw in one of their other videos they do have the logo so at least they didn't outright steal and sprite swap that one. It's still funny to see how it runs just fine on everything else but on OTON it's 10fps, I wish I included that!

+StopDrop&Retro I think what he was saying about the AyR is that it will scan your surroundings and then blend that real time recording with CGI game stuff and stream it into your goggles... Or maybe the goggles are just goggles but a projector displays the images holographically on your lens? Like a more advanced R-Zone...

11:05 - Ayr is actually the name of a small country town in Australia. I know because I've visited Ayr.

The only thing that can save No Man's Sky is to FIX the AWFUL ENDING (along with other things, but they need to start there.)
@StopDropRetro7 жыл бұрын
I still want to try it. But it needs to go down to like $10.

Actually, the section with online FPS games is Unreal Tournament. Albeit, a poor mans Unreal Tournament.
