We as a country cannot let a vehicle like this retire, why not keep this platform and continue with a new more powerful engine and new technology on the weapons

Great vehicle. They say that it wasn't produced in time to make a difference in the border war but it wouldn't have made a difference but still a great vehicle. They need to upgrade the armor and engine and it is good to go for another 10 years. They've added sensors and thermal and navigation. Absolutely brilliant. Needs the British additional armor and really top apc.

Ratel, very reliable, durable, rugged.. OTT did a very good job in upgrading the vehicle.. the only capability it needs It's an amphioubius capability..

Old tech with a bit more skin, some flashy but nothing hugely exciting gadgetry and a new paint job! Looks good, but how will it compare on the battle field?

Probably about the same. I mean the upgrades are only there to extend the Ratel's lifespan until the Badger can replace it.

Too late. SANDF already ordered 244 new badger IFV. Way better than this upgraded Ratel.

@@Hamilton_ZA stalled forever due to two decades of budget cuts and corruption. Denel will NEVER afford the badger, much like medupi and Kusile we looking at over a decade of "stalling"
