I can't seem to remember more than one main course of food in UK. In turkey you definitely get more food. Pols wedding is different. Lots of small food and a big salmon or some big fish. Ham , these savory jellies, nice soup. Lots of vodka!!! Games and songs!!!

Hello Megan and Madga, I enjoyed watching your channel, please keep filming your experiences in Turkey. We are planning to move to Ankara from London and I would like to ask you what advice can you give to my 11 year old daughter, who doesn't speak any Turkish and she has anxieties about the move. My husband is turkish and unable to get uk visa unfortunately to come to London...
@meganandmagdainturkey58257 жыл бұрын
Dina Guleryuz there are many foreigners living in turkey and most of them don't speak Turkish it doesn't cause them any problems with communicating in big cities like ankara, istanbul or izmir people are used to foreigners. There are many private schools here where education is English, so I don't think not knowing Turkish will be a problem. But I can tell u Turkish isn't that difficult foreigners pick up Turkish easy so I think your 11 yrs old daughter won't have problems to learn Turkish either😃

Megan and Magda in Turkey thank you for your reply. I agree with what you are saying about the language, but on top of this she has a lot of anxieties about moving to different culture, leaving all her friends in london, getting used to new school (probably private turkish, cause we cant afford english school) etc. You are both very positive people, who made this move. She watched some of your videos and liked them too. You are a good example of how foreigners can still be happy living in turkey, for my daughter its like the end of the world...

Anxiety is due to having such parents like you. Having parents with an obvious Turkish names and asking foreigners for an advice. Get a life!!!

Daralyn Potter as we work and live in Aydin (west part of turkey) we don't know much about working conditions in Istanbul and sometimes from city to city it can change so we don't want to give u wrong informations.

Taking shoes off is not common only in Turkey, even the Japanese or Koreans do that. ;)

And also in Iran. I would like to give a personal opinion too: we cannot count it as a right thing or a wrong thing. It is something in every nation's culture, and I believe WHEN IN ROME you'd better DO AS ROMANS DO, but when you're home, do as you wish :) it's good to be both respectful (to other cultures) and flexible (to try other cultures as well, sometime you find other cultures better fit, so why not give them a try)

Well, these “ experiences” obviously are classified with your limited observations. Generalizing these kind of cultural activities is not eligible or ethical I think. There are many species in this country and as you two girls know, financial status make people do such different things for example the way that you did not like ceremony of weddings. To me you should try to be more flexible. At the end, you are just sharing your own thoughts but even I did not like this video, I support and appreciate you :)

Anyone who has basic hygiene takes the shoes off before entering a home. Somehow these two find this strange. I guess cleanliness is not part of their life style.

khan sab it's quite simple you just have to have lived in Turkey for 5 years, and not to have left for over 6 months. I'm not sure if the same rule applies to all countries but it's seems to be, hope that can help you
