The fastest train in India is the Gatiman Express that runs between Delhi and Bhopal which reaches about 150 kph only in a small section between Delhi and Agra. That Vande Bharat train on paper can reach 180 kph but in practice runs only at 130 kph or 140 kph tops. The tracks in India can’t support more than 140 kph so the trains are limited by track capability. Same as Eurostar which on paper can reach 350 kph but operates and limited at 300 kph

Normally I would be sat on my sofa with Nigel, my husband on a Sunday morning watching your latest adventures. But today I am on my own watching as very sadly and suddenly Nigel passed away last weekend on the 17th, he was only 57. No illness, no symptoms and has left me and our 2 adult children, family and friends absolutely devastated. It brings me comfort watching you live our dream of travelling; we had so many plans to travel and even talked about buying a van. I am determined to visit all the places we talked about as a tribute to Nigel. Much love to you two and happy travelling. I will be watching every week. Andrea xxxx

Thank you. This video was quite emotional for me. My brother left the UK many years ago. He married an Indian girl, they lived in Mumbai. He died there age 59. His widow brought his ashes to his home town where they were scattered in the village where he played as a little boy. We were quite surprised that they were large pieces of bone, not ashes. I am so full of admiration for you both, to travel while you are still young. Make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. Lots of love. ilona xxx

Fab to see you visiting places I travelled to many years ago. I remember when I was in Varanasi we didn't go too close to the place the bodies were burnt to be respectful. Instead, we went on a boat trip and set leaves adrift to float with candles on the Ganges. The evening ceremony at the ghats was magical and coincided with a thunderstorm with lightning in the background. So atmospheric. I also got to see that amazing stupa at Sarnarth. What an amazing trip you've had. It will be hard to adjust coming home to the UK for sure. Thanks for sharing your Indian adventure with us.

We have to remember that the body is already empty when it is cremated. It wasn’t that long ago in the U.K. that bodies were kept at home for neighbors to pass their respects with the coffin open. Death is our only certainty ❤❤❤
@soniadownie8749
@soniadownie8749 4 ай бұрын
Yes I remember my grand mother telling me this. Bodies would be prepared and then taken home for viewings for the last goodbyes. Seems so much human to do this and normalises death and bodies rather than this fear and a taboo subject That way had far more meaning than the practices of today. Thank you for reminding us of those practices that many have forgotten 🙏🏼

🤣🤣🤣 What kind of "spiritual seekers" lies about babies, pregnant woman, snake bite victims sank in the Ganga as a practice ? 🤣🤣🤣 What kind of idiot believes such rubbish ? the bigoted kind seeking confirmation bias. That's who. What stops criminals from dumping bodies of their victims into the Ganga ? 😂 They actually had the gall to call the crematorium as a "public burning". As if "public" is invited to watch grief of survivors.😂 Have you ever seen a bigot call a graveyard as a "Public graveyard" ?

Ive heard that Death is so in your face in Varanasi that it just reinforces so hard that death is a part of life. It can be so taboo but really, we are all just made up of the elements, no matter what religion you believe in. In traditional Dharmic sense, the body is carried to the location where it connects with (Air) in the process, and then placed with wood and on the ground with (Earth), then set on (Fire) and finally the ashes released in (Water). Its symbolic of the earthly and temporary human body going back to the elements of mother Earth that gave us life in the first place. Varanasi gets a lot of flak sometimes because its the City of Death, but really, Death is just a part of life. A beautiful part of life, that is eternal and inevitable. The city of Death can be overwhelming if your previous Indian experience is the Blue city, Pink city, city of Joy and so on, but it really completes life.

I was lucky enough to visit Varanasi in 2007. I was very conscious to be respectful of the families and the cremation workers around the Ghatts. At that time, wood was getting scarce, so cremations were very costly. Much more expensive than a marriage, I was told. But it is essential for the family to do this for their parents if at all possible. It was a timeless experience for me, and I can see from the video that it doesn't seem to have changed at all. Very reassuring. I love India and her people. I would love to visit again when I retire.
@odomangulati7079
@odomangulati7079 5 ай бұрын
The ash and remains is immersed into the water because the soul still hangs around the body for a few day and feels the "burning", so the remains are immersed into the water to give it a feeling of calm. Also its symbolic of how the soul merges with "god", in the same way rivers merge with the Ocean. The soul has a tendency to hang around the mortal remains, so the mortal remains are quickly destroyed so that the soul can move on into the next stage.

My mum died on Thursday and watching this makes me wish we could do something similar. I don’t particularly want to watch her actively be cremated but something outside, in nature, where she would be returned to nature, would feel so peaceful, I think. The way we do it here is just so “conveyor belt” and impersonal.

The cremation ceremonies seem perfect, taking in the natural elements. That it is the family & friends of the deceased taking care of their last earthly journey feels precious. The clip of the 'Goat in a coat' made me chuckle, (yeah it was a tshirt, but that doesn't rhyme)😂. Have so enjoyed each & every Indian video. I have so enjoyed your trip through India and feel profound respect and admiration for this ancient land. Although I spent quite a bit of time in India, I was in an ashram and so didn't get to see much beyond that. I will miss your adventures here! A shame that Liam got a virus and glad he is better. Brilliant thank you 🙏 Me and my husband (from the Midlands, UK) arrived in Chennai on 1 March and are currently travelling in Tamil Nadu. We have Varanasi planned for May so it was super interesting to watch this episode. In fact we’ve loved all your videos and we’re including some of the places you’ve been to as they looked so cool. Happy travels 🙏

Time flies by when I watch one of your vlogs. It's been such an inspiring journey you've both had...so many ups, downs, twists and turns.. and yet you both just accept where you are on the journey and adjust accordingly!! Just like life in general! It was normally Liam looking after Jeanine when not being well... like on the Camino...and now the other way round... such a strong couple/team! I hope you feel stronger now Liam! I loved seeing the people you both met...they reacted to your positive and friendly auras ✨️✨️ Thanks for taking us along!! I can't wait to see what you both get up to next!! Respect to you both on the commentaries, filming, editing and gorgeous choices of music 🎶 🎵 👌 🙏🕯✨️✨️✨️✨️💛💛💛💛👏👏👏😀🤗😍

Thanks for another amazingly presented chapter of your Indian travels, top class once again. What an incredible culture and people they are, full of love, generosity, and respect for everyone around them. The West could learn so much from them.

Aww honestly guys I’ve loved every minute of this whole “India” series. You’ve both done such a good job and it’s felt like we’ve travelled along with you. How a TV company hasn’t picked you up yet is beyond me. I remember back in the day, watching an episode of Alan Whicker where he visited the border and always thought I’d love to visit and see it for myself one day. I never made it but thanks to this video, you’ve brought it a bit closer. Thank you

Words fail me, you two are incredibly respectful and the warmth you receive from the lovely locals is a testament to the way you both are and how open they are to tourists. You were always gentle people but i can see a shift in your demeanour towards softness. You must be tired and enriched in equal measures. Thank you for sharing your travels 💚
