You should really visit Kerala before leaving India. One can't leave India without exploring South. Try house boat in Alleppey, Kerala. Your kids are going to love it . South India is the best. It's safe, clean, warm people and beautiful.

Bharat is a massive country compared to tiny uk. You should be fair and show all parts of BHarat where you get real luxuries you wont be able to afford the rich malls where you kids will get what you cannot afford in uk and then you purposely go to smaller places where kids are stronger and well looked after just not pampered because they are not spoilt. DO not give cliche statements this is reality-everything is reality-the reality is you guys stripped BHarat the golden bird bare muurdered people stole the jewels and much more and then come to Bharat and talk condescendingly as if you know everything-such pompous stupidity still exists? Correct your statement by saying if you come here they may nore blah blah blah but all places are not the same-omg western dumb wit-edness.

As an Indian (from the North-East, where the culture is quite different from mainstream India) living in Europe, I have always struggled to articulate what I feel about India. I often tell my girlfriend, India is an experience and that's it. It brings out all kind of emotions. India will make you mad, disgusted, happy, scared, amazed, irritated, melancholic, relaxed, enthusiastic, tired, lucky, shitty.... You stay in India long enough, it will bring the best and the worst in you. Somehow, after getting to know the world better, I have grown to love and appreciate India more than ever. It's not perfect, but that's exactly is the point.

I loved watching your travels to India. I went to Gujarat and started and finished in Ahmedabad. The pollution wasn’t bad and whilst there was no Taj Mahal the Jain Temples were beautiful and the beach at Mandvi was lovely. I’m a hand spinner and weaver so I booked this trip with this in mind and focused on seeing amazing local artisans. I was humbled by their skill whilst only having basic equipment. Beautiful to relive India thank you 🙏🏻

Love love love your travel to India. Visited a while ago and lived there for 8 years. Incredible country. Did not like Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal and Hyderabad but loved the rest of our stay and travels across Haryana, Maday Pardesh, Odisha, Chandigarh (except Punjab influence on it), Daman and Diu, Goa, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Mysore, Madurai and many places in Utar Pardesh. We want to visit northeast next time. Also felt that our media and academia in the US does a disservice in portraying that country. We actually enjoyed visiting temples and exploring Hindu way of life through vegetarian food (such a heaven for anyone vegetarian), yoga and learned about ayurveda. Hope Indians themselves can preserve all the goodness. Did not get used to the traffic and pollution so mostly stayed in places on a bit more upper middle class yet smaller towns. People are very hardworking there and seem to have gratitude. Very close to their families as well. Hope to visit again. PS: Forgot to add. It was surreal to see how welcoming and keen on sharing people are in that part of the world.

I agree with you both, it’s so amazing how much kids cope with travel, often better than we do. Our son was 4 when we did our first overseas trip. We did an around the world trip and we we away for 10 weeks. OMG the things he experienced and learnt. He’s a very social person and just like his late father, can hold a conversation with anyone. We travel with a cheap stroller, this allowed him to rest and sleep when needed. Food was never an issue for us, in Asia we didn’t eat on the street, every where else we ate where the locals did. He ate everything and anything, nothing delighted him more than having something new. Kids are awesome travel partners.

Where abouts were you in Goa? Such an excellent place for kids! My husband and I lived in Calangute Beach when it was a small sleepy fishing village in 1984/85 for a year after being on a 6 week whirl wind tour throughout India 5 months prior. Such great memories! I was just recently there in October on a work-ish holiday and touring around 12 women with my work friend. The ladies were all newbies to India so it was wonderful and challenging at the same time..😜. India is indeed an amazing place and holds a special place in my heart! Travelling with kids has to be different to travelling as adults. I took my kids on a 3 month trip around Europe (ages 10, 8 and 3) we took a trailer tent and purposely avoided the cities and stuck to the countryside - it was perfect! Because we drove we could go to places away from transport hubs (cities!) it’s a great way to plant the seed of curiosity- I now have three young adults who love to travel and see themselves as global citizens. My eldest studies international development and we have great discussions about global issues. Don’t hesitate to take your kids travelling - the world isn’t just beach holidays and hotels! I agree that India is a completely different world and has a place in my heart ❤️ (and I’m just back from Morocco - which was equally incredible!)

The pollution in North India is particularly bad during the winter season because of the stubble which the farmers burn in that season to prepare for the next crop. Coupled with that is the fact that there are more vehicles in Delhi than in any other city in India. North Indian cities, especially Delhi, should be avoided in winters. The best time to visit Delhi is in summers and monsoon between April and September. In winters south India is safe, including the cities.

I have always tried to take spices from countries I travel to for work to make food for my homebound children when they were young. I believe as a biologist that creating 'culinary imprints' in the brain of our babies can make them easy to adjust to foods of distant lands when they grow up and travel. I can surely vouch for it now that my grown up kids feel at home when they try supposedly exotic foods for them. You are making your babies world ready by doing this. Thank you for visiting my homeland, India even though I am geographically far from her.

Great vid guys, I admit I think my wife and I would have baulked taking our kid/s at the age your little Sawyer is at, only because there would be a lot of effort and the age might be too young to remember later on but I was very excited to see how much Carusoe took in, how much he was looking around and helping to look after his little brother. And he can talk about it afterwards and you know he has his memories stored. But what a great trip and those curries, and the smell of them would be heaven on a stick, we love curries and would have them with every meal….especially breakfast (nice veggie curry).

Tara, you were so honest at the end of the video, and that is so important for other parents who may be contemplating a visit like that. I have often heard it said that India is an "experience" rather than a holiday, especially on a budget. The last few days in Goa were like a reward for not hiding from the reality of India, the noise, the crowds and worst of all the pollution.

Thank you for everything you’ve shown us and said in your India Series! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again…. It’s the only way I’m going to get to explore this world…. Is as a witness to others adventures! I was in BRI in Bristol as I watched last weeks episode and this week I’m on tender hook awaiting news of future major surgery required, as a result of the investigations that day. Being so open and honest with us and not sugar coating or not showing us the down side of travelling - its refreshing and I love your approach in all aspects of your life! Travel, parenting and your mountain farm life! Travel just isn’t something I can plan right now…. But maybe one day, Northern Portugal may be somewhere I can explore! And if we do, I’ll be sure to get some hints and tips from you both before hand! Value your health above all else Newbys. ❤

Also Goa, such a relief from the big cities! wonderful! Thank you for sharing your journey. Touching and relatable. After all these years, I still miss the curry, the chapati's and the chai.

Made me remember my trip to India. The colours, smells and history overshadowed the pollution. Seeing the sights and changes to 1998 just makes me smile. PS I backpacked Europe Asia and Canada in 1982 at the age of 19. Just eat local if you do want to risk Delhi belly but carry your meds. I am from SA and also grew up in Plumtree.

Hi there Tara, John, Crusoe and Sawyer! I am SO pleased the trip was such a success, I have to admit being a bit worried when you set off, as my own solo 7 week trip there a few years ago was a big adventure and not all of it quite so positive or without incident lol😝. It's so interesting getting my memories back from that trip as I watch you travel, they remain in bright technicolour after nearly 10 years -like a vivid soul tattoo....it sounds like it's the same for you and I am so happy for that. Well done guys and it certainly was BEING BRAVE, THINKING BIG, and EXPLORING. With love to all T and Flossie in the UK x 🐾💕

hello , my name is Greta i have found your page , i live in Australia , i have travelled extensively In India , but my heart filled with love so much when i saw your family in Goa . i have my partner in Goa and unfortunately haven't been able to get back for the past 5 years . i thoroughly enjoyed the videos of you all in India , and i take my hat off to you those you chose to share India with your young children . you are correct , most people actually underestimate children's ability to adapt to different situations, but it was also because of your incredible parenting style that they were able to also enjoy what you showed them . they seemed to just adapt to anything that was put in front of them on a daily basis . i will look forward to the day i can also return to India and go to many of those places that you showed on your travels. and i will continue to watch your family on the videos , kind regards Greta Martin
