Love. One of the best bands to come out of Los Angeles in the 1960's. One of the first interracial bands in rock history. And "Forever Changes" (which this is from) is one of the best ALBUMS in rock history. RIP Arthur Lee.

This is one of my favorite bands. Often overlooked. I recommend "You Set the Scene" & "She Comes In Colors". This came out in 1967. Along with Jimi Hendrix, Arthur Lee was one of the few black artists doing psychedelic rock back then. Sadly all but one of the band members passed away. The instrument was a trumpet played with a Spanish style & flare.

Right. Mexican trumpets and strings. They say Bryan (writer) couldn't reach the notes in this song, so Arthur sang it.

This Album " Forever Changes " by Love is really good. I had heard it was an all time great album from the 60s, but I didn't immediately like it that much. I put it on again a few weeks later and again a couple more weeks and on about the 3rd or 4th listen it clicked with me and I came to Love it.

I bought the album from which this track is taken on release in 1967. It took a few months, but I eventually realised it's a masterpiece, still never topped, in my humble opinion. As for this track, not only the string/brass arrangement, but also Arthur Lee's quite brilliant harmony line help elevate it to the rare heights of sublimity. Great reaction from you both, obviously people of discerning taste!

Guys, SO COOL that Love’s music still hits today like in the late ‘60s in LA. Arthur Lee was so very talented. Give a listen to “Stephanie Knows Who.”

If you ever heard Linda Ronstadt sing with the Stone Poneys "Different Drum" it's about the 60s free love movement. Contrasted here is Love, where 2 bandmates agreed on saying no the free love and wanted solid relationship with their girls. Thus here "...the times I waited patiently for you...." and "...I heard a funny thing / somebody said to me / you know that I could be in love with almost everyone..." That line was funny to them because it's contrary to their beliefs.

Let's see here: Love -"alone Again Or" is an all-time classis, covered by multiple artists over 5+ decades. The album it is from is in the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Rollings Stones 500 Greatest Album list, and the Library of Congress. The Dokken song, on the other hand, is a decent example of Hair Metal. But, like virtually every Hair Metal song ever made, it was formulaic and not particularly original, and is now outdated, largely forgotten, and barely a blip in musical history. Yep, the Dokken song is much better. You should have listened to that one instead.....
