8 Grammies, a golden globe, over 100 million records sold and one of the worlds best drummers who just happens to sing abit. Phil is our national treasure and my heart is breaking seeing him today being too ill that he can never drum again, at least we have these magnificent videos to keep him and genesis alive for many more years to come. Thankyou for the music and the good days 💕

BRAVO! YOU GOT IT!!!! I have watched over a 100 reactions to this video and YOU ARE THE FIRST to realize and say that the beginning was SUSPENCE. Everyone else talks about the relaxing music/vibes and misses the point that the whole first 6-7 minutes are suspenseful and leading up to the drum beat drop. I grew up listening to Phil Collins, this song came out my senior year of high school. My favorite song EVER! So glad you understood the lead up. 👏

Not bad for a drummer who sings a bit! :) Anyway, we are talking about one of the best drummer living!!! Phil joined Genesis in 1970 as their drummer. He did some backing vocals to the singer, Peter Gabriel, and also as the singer on 2 tracks up until 1976. Peter Gabriel left 1975 after the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway tour and the search for a new singer began. After MANY auditions for a new singer, the band decided that Phil would be the new Genesis singer. They released the 1976 album A Trick Of The Tail with Phil Collins on vocals and drums. For tours they hired an additional drummer, Bill Bruford and in 1977 they hired Chester Thompson (the other drummer in this video) who played on tours. He also played almost every Phil Collins solo tours. Phil Collins is one of only three artists that has sold over 100 million albums as a solo artist and with a group. The other two is Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. A busy drummer who sings a bit!

This song was actually released in the early 80's, and did very well but didn't get the respect that it deserved on the charts. A couple years later, when miami vice came out, and they used it the opening for the the show, it charted for a second time. This time it went MUCH higher on the charts. This one of very few songs that have made back into the top 40 after falling out the first time, and specifically doing better the 2nd time around. This is a total masterpiece. Undisputed.

Phil Collins is for me, the GOAT. One of only 3 people who have ever sold over 100 million records solo and over 100 million in a band; the other two - Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. I saw him play this song in a middle of a 2.5 hour set where he sang, ran around the stage, played keyboard and played the drums - he’s an astonishing musician. Check out some of the early genesis stuff or brand x to see his hard core drumming!

This is the best staging of the live performance Phil did aa a drummer and singer (Paris 2003) . The layer by layer of the various instruments and Phil’s paced walk around the entire stage was just masterful. You do need to find videos that have been posted from Phil’s 2016 to 2019 tour where is son Nic takes over as the drummer (started the tour at age 15 and as 18 when the tour ended. If you just listen, you can’t tell the difference. Genesis (the band) has made Nic an official member, and they’ll begin a Genesis tour n late 2021.

Rumor was he saw a drowning and a man closeby watched this man drown without trying to help. Phil wrote this song and invited the man to his concert and sang it looking at him. Said the man felt so guilty he committed suicide. Now that's just the rumor back then. Phil Collins was the drummer for a group named Genesis when the lead singer quit. The members asked him to sing til they could find another. He really just wanted to drum but agreed. That was over 45 years ago!
