I honestly dont mind it on a flight when a baby cries, if it bothers people they can turn up their movie in the headphones or wear ear plugs.

Me too! I have a 20 month old and we just got home from a visit to family, and she’s really good on the plane. But those occasional moments when she’s talking kind of loud I remind myself of this, I think; “I don’t mind when other mama’s babies cry, so people probably don’t think it’s as big of a deal when my daughter is loud as I think.”

Exactly u can't help with infants crying. But parents who let their 2+ year Olds howl like it's the end of the world, without batting an eyelash at them, need to have some consideration for others. I was on a 9 hour flight with a 6 year old who howled for the most part of the flight to have her way with her parents. It was an overnight flight, I had to work right after and had barely gotten any sleep and the kid who very well knew she was inconveniencing everyone on the flight. The parents were to blame as they just sat through the flight without saying a word to ask her to shut up. It was a terrible flight.

I agree! I always admire seeing parents with their children on a flight. I’m not a parent but I understand how stressful it is because they don’t want to bug anyone. It’s not bothersome to me ever! Babies cry sometimes, be graceful and get over it people!

My best advice (3 kids in) is don’t hold too tightly to the schedule during the flight, follow baby’s lead - with my first I was soooo stressed bc he would get off schedule and I would feel like “everything is ruined, nothing will go well now.” When really he would feel my stress and that would set him off way more than the schedule. With my 3rd kid we just lose expectations during travel, she sleeps when she sleeps and wakes when she wakes, and we just adjust as needed the next day. Then I’m not stressed, and she’s not stressed, we just go with the flow! Also with the milk supply thing, that’s what happened to me when I was pregnant! I had no idea why it seemed like I was producing so little, but it turned out pregnancy lol I wish you the best, will pray your next travels go much better!

Started tearing up with you when you talked about the anxiety you felt on the flight. Had a similar experience on a road trip with our baby girl so I feel you completely! Can’t imagine being trapped on a plane knowing she’s probably hungry and not being able to do anything about it for hours! 😭

We recently flew from New Zealand to Germany with our 8 month old, and the best thing we did was book a baby bassinet for her, which I would highly recommend. We also brought a big dark cloth to hang over the bassinet, so it would be really dark and cozy for her and we tried to do the same bedtime routine with her on the flight as we would do at home (sang her song, put her in her PJs that smelled like home). We also brought a "water spray" to spray over her bassinet a couple of times during the flight because the air was super super dry and we had a lot of formula with us. The flight went really well and I'm sure your baby will be fine as well! It's also important that you as the parents are relaxed because the baby can sense how we are feeling :) good luck and don't worry too much, it'll be fine!

It’s so encouraging to other new moms to know that other moms struggle too. Thanks for showing that. We usually only see the hood on social media. I feel so much empathy for you throughout this! Especially related to the schedule change and “feeling so bad” about it. Those are the things that keep me up at night crying. From guilt. Not every moment will be perfectly on schedule all the time, even though we want to be as considerate as possible to our babies ❤ You’re doing an amazing job.

I honestly love how honest you were in this vlog. You didn’t sugarcoat it and you didn’t romanticise or make it look easy because you did struggle and travelling with a baby/child is hard no matter the age! I personally think you did exceptionally well carrying yourself through this with gratitude in your heart 🤍 I travelled with my 2 year old from Sydney to New York which was a 20hr flight and lemme just say, there were lots of tears from both of us 😂 but like some people have already said, don’t stress too much on staying on schedule and follow bub’s lead! They feel your worries and stress so try to take each hour as it comes and you should be fine 🥰🫶🏽 sending so much love to you & your adorable family, Jess! ✨

Hey Jess! I love your videos... just wanted to say that I've flown with a baby back and forth multiple times a year on a 12 hour flight (my husband and I lived in Europe for 4 years before we moved back to the states) - sometimes it's hard, sometimes it's okay, but I think mentally preparing yourself that you're not going to have a lot of down time helps. There will be a lot of holding, playing, soothing, etc., but you can get through it! Formula on the flight definitely helps. I also bring extra pacifiers (they always fall on the floor) and baby snacks, and I bring infant motrin and tylenol in case their ears hurt. Hope your next flight is easier!

You got this! Whenever I hear someone else’s baby cry on a plane, it genuinely doesn’t bother me. I feel bad for the parents because I know most of them feel pressure to not be bothersome to others. The truth is, babies will be babies 👶🏻 We can’t help what they do. Plus, you will never see these people on the flight again.

As a mom of 3 kids, I’ve totally been there. It feels like a rite of passage into parenthood to have a really rough experience traveling with your baby (and with adjusting sleep schedules). However, if it makes you feel better, it gets easier over time and with your other kids. My youngest is 10 months and I still get stressed, but it is so much easier now. It’s almost like because you’ve already been through the worst and survived, you know it’ll be okay. Even if it still feels scary to try again. I’m glad you’re flying with her again soon! Kids tend to get easier as they get used to new experiences, it just takes time. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is an easy way around it, you just have to go through it. You’re doing such a good job, you are a great mama! Also, we had a crying baby right next to us on our last flight and it didn’t bother us at all. I let also didn’t bother any one around us. That’s just how it goes!

You’re allowed to be beginners and learn ideas for what would work better next time. And I love what your friend said - not every flight will be bad, this was just one. My heart when you described/showed Makaiah using your hand to soothe/block out everything 😭 so sweet! If I remember right (from all the bebes my mother breastfed 😅) it’s normal to occasionally have a dip in supply, especially if you’re going through stress or change in someway. I hope things go back to normal for you both!

it was interesting watching this because i struggle with the same type of anxiety (what you were explaining as far as symptoms) and for some reason, i just thought when im a mom & have a baby life will be perfect & i won't have panic attacks anymore. it was almost comforting in a way to hear you talking about struggling with anxiety while having your baby, because now i know if i have a panic attack when im in that season, im not alone and it's not like something is wildly wrong with me. i also am so glad i realized this now instead of then! we have Jesus to rely on in every season, whether the highest of highs or the lowest of lows. thank you so much for being so vulnerable and sharing this side of your life. love you Jess 🤍

Awwww I teared up listening to all the concerns you had about her routine, how little sleep she was getting during the day, your milk supply, the bumping vs nursing and formula delimma... THAT IS A LOT OF WORRYING to live with in a short amount of time! Not to mention feeling guilty and sad on top of the problem solving you were trying to apply to every situation! HONEY! May God bless you and strengthen you. You did an amazing job with what you had, not to mention the flight delays left and right which pissed me off a ton on your behalf because OH MY GOD I can relate to everything you felt and experienced including the external changes of plans. Beautiful Jess you are an amazing mom. God bless you. Hope you're back on routine and that your milk supply restabilized. Oh by the way, night nursing is the best remedy for low milk supply ... especially that dream feed at 10 pm if I remember correctly. If she's sleeping well through the night, that's probably why your milk supply is decreasing. Also, the more she nurses on the breast, the better it is for sending signals to your body to produce more milk. As for some tips on overseas flights, have lots of snacks she can munch on when she's getting bored and loud. Get a blackout cover which you could put over her car seat AND a mini fan so she's doesn't overheat while covered (place it safely at a distance from her somehow underneath the cover) and with some caresses like you did, she will hopeful fall asleep much more easily on any flight ❤

My heart goes out to you momma. When our babies cry and are stressed or hungry it is seriously so hard. And when we don’t have our normal “mom tool box” it gets really stressful. All I can say is that I have always found my milk supply to be hugely dependent on my stress level or lack thereof. Traveling on a plane, often dehydrated, and then super stressed would definitely make it hard to supply my babe. I say this because when I’m aware of my stress and how it affects my milk supply im better able to calm myself in the situation and drink some water and have my milk letdown for the babe. This might not be your situation at all but when I was a first time mom I hadn’t heard of a strong stress/milk supply relationship talked about before and it really helped me once I knew how my body worked. Best of luck on your future travels.

My husband and I moved to Hawaii from North Carolina while our daughter was 17 months. She still nurses so I can relate. Depending on when you fly if you still have frozen milk some airlines will actually let you bring that along with you. If you just keep it in a cooler back pack type carrier or a milk carrier. You can count that as either Makaiah’s carry on or yours. That way you have enough milk to help keep her comfy and full if you aren’t ready to introduce formula. That was a life saver for our very long day of travel. Praying for your travels back home! You are doing great, motherhood is full of joy but also a hard times but the joy outweighs those. If you have an extra seat for her, you can buy those blow up things that make the entire seat and where leg area would be INTO a bed which she can use and be more comfortable in, maybe bring a dock a tot thing to go on top too. I precord shows like "miss rachel" and "blippi" on my phone to show my daughter. Although she was 2 months old when we flew to Germany however she was A VERY COLICKY newborn. Always having a bottle ready is key. Lots of snacks! and some of her favorite toys.

Recommendation for Australian flight…ask for the seats with a bassinet. I recently watched a you tube channel that was able to get these seats by request. Game changer.

thank you for being so real with us Jess! And for sharing so much with us. I know this will bless so many current mums, future mums, single women (myself included) - knowing that some days are going to be harder than others, and that we're not the only one struggling. Praise God that He is our comforter. And He knows exactly what we need in this season of our lives - His word, peace, joy etc. I am so in awe of how much He has grown and is growing you Jess in every season of your life. May His grace always be sufficient for you in every season of your life! Sending you lots of love x

Praying for an increase in your supply, your schedule being off/you being stressed or anxious from the trip may have just contributed to a slight dip! Praying that she does well on your trip to Australia too, it will be great!!❤️🇦🇺

Oh Jess! So sorry you had a hard time on your first flight! I have a 3 month old baby and my husband and I travel lots already with him. Best advice I can give you is take a big breath and remember you're doing so great! 🥰 Practically, the formula will help you on these flights, also I'm not sure how much you do this, but wearing Makaiah might be quite helpful to help her keep her sleep time while you're at the airport. Once you need to get her in her car seat it might be easier to transfer her, since she's been close to you for a little while! Give it a try, and see if it works for you. Little sweet Makaiah will adapt ♥️ You and Gabe are doing so great by her. Just a learning curve for us mommas with our little ones. Sending you encouragement, and peace for your upcoming trip!

Hey Jess, Firstly - you're doing an AMAZING job. Travelling kids is difficult. We've travelled with 3 out of 4 kids. 2 were fine, the other HATED it. Sometimes it's just them. I've nursed all four kids and I found taking Blackmores Pregnancy & Breast-Feeding Gold and fenugreek tables helped soooo much with my milk supply. Stress never helps which is hard in a difficult situation. We've flown Brisbane to NZ twice and Interstate from Brisbane - we find snacks, stickers, fidget toys, clothes pegs (lol) - pretty much plan 1 activity for 5 minutes for an hour and then cycle through. All the best with your flight back home - praying for you all.

Video like this will be so useful for future moms. Specially those who need to travel with their baby to go back home from the US. I'm from the PH and will be living in the US in the future because my boyfriend is from the US. So I can totally go back to this kind of video. Thank you Jess❤ and whenever you have anxiety attacks, breathing technique is so helpful, trust me, because it always works for me. So much love for you guys ❤

I have done a 14-hour flight to Australia when my baby was 9 months, and again recently when we turned 18 months. My advice is to not stress about their routine on the flight...there are way too many distractions on the plane for them to stay on schedule (lights, buttons, sounds, people). Let them get to sleep when they are ready. I always found that when I forced it, he felt my stress and got stressed himself. Keep yourself as calm as possible and remember how worth it will be when you land and get to hug all of your favorite people in the world! Have an amazing trip x

I have a 6mo and what helps me is to remind myself that when I'm away I'm not in routine either. I found if I was stressing about keeping bubs in routine I was spoiling the time I had with my family. Praying for your trip to Australia, she might be amazing you just never know but what ever it is God will be with you.

That’s so valid that you were feeling stressed about your milk. That would worry me if it were me and I couldn’t feed my baby. You guys did a great job. Travelling with kids is hard. I traveled on two plains with my two kids 3 yr old and 1yr old basically by myself and it was soooo hard.

For flights and the noise, you can get baby headphones (soft ones) just to soften harsh noises!

Wow this video made me feel so much less alone! My baby is so happy but really loves his routines and will react the same way if anything changes in them! I love that you shared this because the only videos I’ve seen so far are like “we travelled with our baby 38 times this month and they slept the whole time, had no problems at all” 😂

Jess! I feel this. We traveled north for a week with a 3 month old and a 2 year old and wow 😳 the nap schedule being off was a bigger deal than I thought it would be. Just like you said, they’re happy babies so I thought it’d be okay. Our flights were at bedtime and we had tears from both kids. My husband and I took turns walking a kid in the aisle. We tried all the distractions- books, snacks, toys, screen time. Nothing helped perfectly! It’s hard! You just want your babies to be happy. You don’t want to disturb other passengers. Sometimes it’s embarrassing. And it’s DEFINITELY exhausting- mentally and physically. But it is what it is! You have no control over your baby or other people or delayed flights lol. We’re all just out here doing our best. You’re shepherding your child’s heart- at home on a routine or on a plane when she’s overtired. Leave the control to God! You’re doing amazing and I give you props for being intentional with far away family- that in itself is also hard. 😂❤

You've got this mama. I've not been on a flight with my kids (now 11 & 3) but I had the same thing when breastfeeding both of them, I only managed 3/4 months and felt my supply had dried up. As soon as they had formula, they were the happiest of babies. Fed is always best ❤

I’ve been planning for so many years to move to australia - I think it’s so beautiful and I’ve wanted to be there for so long. as someone who also wants children when I grow up, I share many of the concerns you have too so I just wanted to say that you’re not alone jess.. I don’t know you personally jess but from what I’ve seen, you and gabriel are by far the best parents god could give to makaiah 💗 I reckon travelling that far will be a little stressful but I have full faith you guys.. I send all the love towards you.. 🥰
