Stede, like Ed, doesn't know how to get over a breakup without trying to get himself killed, but in his defense I will say: 1. Flattery is a drug to him. When he receive it he don't know when to stop. 2. At that time his crew was his only family and he felt like they were being taken away from him. Ed left him, he can't return to Mary and the children, he doesn't have a house or land either. Buttoms turned into a bird and the Swedish boy stayed with Jackie.

The way Stede reacts to flattery is very similar to how Ed acted in Season 1 on that french boat.

Wow the middle school trauma of your friends abandoning you for the new kid in the block is so real here. At least Izzy’s totally got his back in this scene..❤

I wonder if the show is going to use Stede Bonnet's other alias, "Captain Thomas."

I was thinking it's kinda interesting to have a lead character who just keeps getting emasculated. Whilst I love how badarse Zheng is I did feel bad for him, he really loves Olu and they've always got on so well. He has behaved like a dick with all the hubris though and pride does come before a fall.

I think Stede fights a bit better when he at least perceives his target as an actual threat/challenge. His arrogance in this episode severely blinded him from that. Compare this fight to his duel with Izzy in 1x06 (he even tries to use the same throwing-the-nearest-object-or-material move but couldn't accurately land it.) Also, why'd you kill Steaky, Zheng? Why? :,-(

@@thescarvedinsect yes I think that was his problem here, he had got too big for his boots, and very quickly

Who else felt like Zheng’s character wasn’t supposed to be in the show? Everything that happened could’ve happened without her. Like what did she do? Attack Stede after taking his crew?
@faelaneoin7 ай бұрын
What do you mean? If it weren't for her Stede would still probably be looking for Ed and she's the whole reason everything went to shit in this final scene.
@Catcatcathat7 ай бұрын
@@faelaneoin it was a poor writing choice, there were plenty of ways to go with the same story line without adding a character for no reason
@faelaneoin7 ай бұрын
@@Catcatcathat Ah I get what you're saying, and I kind of agree. We could have had more of Ricky, who is actually supposed to be the villain, and instead they made her a recurring character. I do think it's cool they decided to put famous female pirates in the show though.
@parrotcracker66297 ай бұрын
I like her character. It's very refreshing to see a GOOD pirate captain. Ed was abusive, Stede was incompetent, Jackie is a bully. Even in history Zheng accomplished a WHOLE lot more than her male counterparts and got to make a deal with the Chinese authorities before retiring and making sure her crew got off Scott free as well as keeping their loot and getting the government to pay them to stop.
@Catcatcathat7 ай бұрын
Yeah but it was poorly executed and adding another female character just for that (that isn’t developed and is just supposed to be perceived as a strong female character) is actually kind of insulting. Jackie is way better
