I love watching Mr. Wayna, I had my own Mr. like him. Mine passed away last June, and we had 50 years together just like these two. It brings me so much happiness seeing these two together. I wish southern Illinois had stores like this. Blessings to you both.

You can tell John was cooped up in the car for a while, he's such a hoot! I love listening to him, he has opened up so much just since I started watching you. His personality is shining through! You sure did get a lot of good deals. That yeast is still a good price compared to the jars I buy. I keep mine in the refrigerator but have found that if I don't bring it to room temp before making bread my loaves don't rise well. I've been baking bread all my life and went through a period where it just wouldn't rise the way it always had...even when testing my water with a thermometer (which I had never done!). When I finally thought about cold yeast & let it warm up they were back to normal.

@@dianeb9435 I hoped it would be helpful to others. I've been baking bread since before I was 10 & never noticed that before. But I have been buying it in jars for the last few years and that may keep it cold longer too. Having it in my cold house through the winter may have all led to the difference.

I keep my yeast in the freezer but always let it come to room temperature first.

Amazing prices! You two are so enjoyable to watch. I was shocked that you think $5 is a lot fir the yeast! Here in Canada the tiny 4 ounce jar is 5.49 at Walmart. But I get a friend to pick me up the Red Star 2 pound brick at Costco for 11.99. Which is fir me amazing price. Well as long as we are getting the best price for our area that’s what matters! We use to have an Amish ( what they called salvage grocery store) but they changed it and only sell their stuff now. So sad because we use to shop there all the time. Now we just go for a few things but the prices are high

John…you made my day! And you should have done the larded pig dance over that Crisco because it was 11 bucks at Meijer just last week. Hunny DID get a deal but I don’t need to defend Renae because she is the queen of sniffing out a good deal. I think your grocery bill was nowhere near outrageous with the cooking done in the Wayna kitchen. I just love your sense of humor John and my hunny gets so much enjoyment from your appearances and that is priceless in this house. Having to endure 3 days a week in dialysis doesn’t leave Jack much energy so I’m grateful to you for entertaining us. Looking forward to anything on the menu and with just today’s haul alone I can see lots and lots of good cooking and baking!!!:):):)
