Your Homestead is beautiful! Hi Mr. Wayna! Today I filled up 2 plastic containers full of dirt, mowed our yard, made a rum pineapple bundt cake with a light glaze on it. I had a smidge to taste and mmm delicious. Have a good evening. Love & hugs Laurie from Waterloo, Indiana.

I gave up on my raised beds, my neighbor has cats and couldn’t keep them out. So I’m like you. Eeww. No more raised bed 😔

Renea, I have a question. When the tomatoes reach the fish heads you said they're gonna go bananas. How do they go bananas...I thought they are tomatoes! 🤣🤣 Your place looks so nice. I LOVE your market stand! When I was young I had a stand in our local beauty shop where I sold baked goods. I would have had a blast having a stand like yours. I know it keeps you busy but also understand the love of making all you put in it.

Also you can cut the ends of the corn leave the husks on and put in microwave for 5 minutes and it's delicious and the silk comes right off from it

OH MYYYY I’m SOOO jealous, Indigo Buntings are my very favorite birds! I have all kinds of feeders in my bird garden in amongst all my huge moon flower & honeysuckle bushes. In all the years I’ve had it, I only had 1. Indigo buntings are bred in a bird sanctuary park here in PA, but they prefer forested areas. I’m 2 blocks away from a forest, yet I had a redneck grouse show up for a day once, but no buntings.

I put in an herb garden next to the house that has a small hyacinth & our rain barrel. I used landscape roll bc I want it to be full of perennial herbs.

This is our second year using the Ruth Stoudt method with our potatoes. Learned some lessons last year. We laid a layer of straw down then a thick layer of our compost, then bone meal, fertilizer & seed potatoes then buried them. We had a lot of insect damage. It’s also been raining hard for a week, we’re hoping that layer of straw will keep them from drowning & rotting. We lost a good bit to green last year, so we’re layering it even thicker this year. I have everything in but my tomatoes & green peppers bc I got those seeds late. My Greenstalks are doing great! We have one with all lettuce & spinach on our porch. So nice grabbing fresh salad fixings! I planted True Black Brandywine & Brown Sugar Baker Creek seeds, they ALL germinated. I’ll be sharing some of those. I just don’t want to plant them til they’re a little bigger so I don’t lose them.
