Yes, and I was given price from person who shipped wood box down from MN of $8,000. The question is can you buy comparable (or better) in EC. US beds are loaded w chemicals (anti-imflammatory/fire etc) if EC beds can be bought high quality and dont have all the chemicals thats a WIN WIN (for example) . Sounds like sheets arent as high a thread count in EC ? T or F ?

@@KrisandMike Are you talking dishes here? Porclain and stoneware is high fired. Not porous. Doesnt chip easy. Those stylish holiday etc dishes , pretty from Portugal (you know what I mean) are earthenware. Those type dishes (mexico etc) are low temp fired. Often have lead in glazes. Years ago, I brought beautiful mexican mugs, Blue and white, home from trip to Oaxaca. Drinking coffee out of them, it changed the taste and I believe I was drawying lead from glaze. Started getting head aches.

Thanks a lot for sharing 😊 you are still enjoying I can see and yes, it's a bit strange with the dead thing we owe and, am sure we will miss.. When I come down, I will bring probably 2 suitcases, my self and my personal papers plus off course my laptop - as well as, my readyness for my next home..nothing more.. planning to leave Europe behind, except maybe one place here - because of it's extraordinary beauty, people, animals and nature but, I don't, need more dead things for that either.. Having moved countries before, I know I don't need or want more 😊 Thanks again for sharing..happy to see you look relaxed and happy... Just over 2:and a half years and counting and I'll "invade" Ecuador as well..can't wait...😊 Take care

That's how I traveled. Even then a regret the suitcases were so heavy at 50pounds each. In April 2022 you had to do all the heavy lifting yourself. Hopefully that changes where airport staff does more. My friend had a lot of photos and did a big move, she transferred them all to hard drives digitally with some sort of device took ages but she wouldn't have space for it where she moved. Other things are those old photos will deteriorate over time. Another thing is if family won't take treasured heirlooms now, would they if you passed away? I found several people who lived closer to me to take these things using Facebook share groups. They appreciated vintage but not valuable things passed to me from my great grandmother. Imagine knowing no family member would take them. It was illuminating

It's interesting, if you ever asked about it in fb, I would have been one saying you can get it all here lol. Remember, as Canadians we are already used to paying more than US folks do, plus they have more selection. Especially as you are in a smaller location, your now shopping with less selection, but others going to cuenca or manta or near to guayaquil really have lots to select from. The thing that always gets me are those who push the narrative you can't find towels, bedding, sheets here. No idea where they live or shop, tbh. I will say tvs cost more, but do you really want to bring in delicate stuff like that? I dont

Shipped a container from Vancouver. The shipping date kept getting pushed into the future. A nightmare to say the least. Then when the container arrived in Guayaquil the shipping agent said we had too many books and clothes. He asked to give the border agents half an hour to take stuff for themselves. Then they would allow the container to enter. Needless to say they grabbed power tools and art pieces etc. The amazing thing is a 4 foot by 8 foot painting disappeared. The shipping windows placed a lot of pressure on us. Every day the container is stuck in customs costs a lot of money. Would I do it again . Probably not.

We are also from Ontario. My regret was bringing a fridge, stove, freezer, air conditioner, television, and portable heaters, (some of which we already owned). Things I did not regret were our security cameras, sectional, power washer, area rugs (even with the warm climate we just power wash them), fans, art including but not limited to wooden carvings, family heirlooms that my children could not take but I did not want to give them either, cutlery, utensils, knife set, plates, bowls, pots, pans, air fryer, dehydrators, bedding, pillows, mattresses, towels, power tools, small generator, toaster, other small appliances, spices, some favourite food items as treats, extra shoes, snorkeling gear, battery backup to protect our electronics, surge protectors, propane bbq with extra parts, gardening tools, plastic totes, sealed food storage containers, vaccuum, bedframes, and a few more. Things I wish I packed would be a wet/dry shop vac (small one here is $150), weed whacker, more surge protectors, more tall socks for the husband because he is weird, more pants and t-shirts for the both of us, steak knives, and a few extra little things. Would I do it again? Yes, for the sake of my husband's eyesight but definitely not a 40.
