Buenas noches, Just returned to Cuenca two hours ago. From a week long first tour of the coast. Salinas, Montanita , Olon and Manta. Stayed in small hotels and hostels . Most expensive $20 All on or very near the beach . interacted almost exclusively with ecuadorians. { know very little Spanish } Happy to report . Had a fantastic and enriching time.

I wouldn't use the word "commanding" lead. The number of people who will vote blank and don't know for whom to vote is much higher. Looks like there's a lot of uncertainty in the minds of Ecuadorians. I guess we'll only know when.the results are in. Thanks for the informative video. It's appreciated.

Can a home be purchased and financed in Ecuador with US income . What are the requirements if you live and work in US and want to buy a vacation property and finance it?
@KrisandMike5 күн бұрын
Hi. Great question. Houses here purchased by foreigners is very easy however they must be paid for in cash. This usually means using a home equity type loan from your house in the USA or Canada. Thanks for watching

If my Social Security from USA is not quite enough for the Retirement Visa, may I do Investment Visa in buying or building a home for me to live in as my Investment? What is the minimum that would cost, and is it true that housing costs much less in Ecuador than in the States? I do not have much money. I do not think that I need to be on the beach, nor to have a view, and I really do not like windows that are too large. I want to ship a container and so I would not need my home to be furnished. I would expect to have basic light fixtures and kitchen cupboards but not much more than that. Am I allowed to purchase my container and have it placed for many years in the back lawn? So that I can unload it whenever and not have to hurry at that? Any suggestions? I am thinking Cuenca area of Ecuador. Maybe some more affordable outlying area. Rather than "wow" factor, I am interested in having ample interior space. Maybe 2000 square feet or 200 square meters. In the states, I have a 3-bedroom 1 and half bath with partial basement and an outdoor storage shed. After moving, I would sell my home in the states, so as to have a little money to live off of. I do not live in an area in the USA that will sell for much money, and my house is old and way overdue for a remodel, which I could never afford and I did not need. I want to obtain permanent residence or even citizen of Ecuador and obtain my 2nd passport.
@KrisandMike10 күн бұрын
Yes housing costs are much cheaper. Simple nice homes are under 100k. We will be doing a video on different types of visas soon.
@yosefmacgruber192010 күн бұрын
@@KrisandMike How much do I need to spend on a house, in order to do the Investment Visa in Ecuador? Is that a permanent route that leads to what I want? I have no plans to keep on moving around. I just want to get out of the has-been USA before everything implodes.

Hello from Peru. They are very good houses but something I noticed from the first moment . I saw the ceilings of those houses. At the beginning I was not sure, came back with my eye-glasses and see it again. They are built using bamboo , and bamboo cut into strips. It is the worst possible material for a ceiling, specially in tropical areas. Here bamboo is dirt cheap building material. It needs a long period of treatment, for not being edible for termites. Most of those treatments do not exists in Ecuador and in Peru are not very popular too. Bamboo is just dry up , installed and painted. Probably good for the first years, but after some few years, termites will be living there. Once termite is installed inside the cavities of bamboo, it is almost imposible to get rid of them. It is a never ending problem. I know you aren't aware of this, but is very important to mention it. Here we have good hardwood as madera tornillo, madera capirona, madera Quinilla, madera huayruro, etc. Cheap and affortable for lasting during hundreds of years. Those woods are even better than Oregon Pine from USA. Thanks for reading.
@davidveraok12 күн бұрын
Posdata -> not all the houses I saw have bamboo , but one of them is quite visible, the bamboo pipe are going from inside to the outside exposing the pipe to even faster deterioration in direct contact with humidity and rain. Here we are using salt hot water bath for treating the pipes, but it has to be a rigurous process and should be done once it is harvested. Not very common to see here. Better using hardwoods. Be careful because softwoods as Pino Radiata looks like hardwoods after wood dyeing.
@KrisandMike12 күн бұрын
Thanks for your note. The bamboo is just for decoration on the inside. The real roof is not bamboo.

Usually the bamboo here is topped by cement. It's a nuisance because the cement filters through from above and is a daily mess to clean. Thanks for pointing that out to folks who are news to Equatorial South America. I've been here for over 16 years on the coast and there is much that northerners do not know and are apt to learn only by error or by the kindness of strangers. Those in real estate are not about to give you the downsides of the homes they are selling to unsuspecting buyers. It is always best to RENT FOR A YEAR before buying any property in Ecuador. The learning curve is steep and this is NOT North America.

People who live in abject poverty eating rice and potatoes daily and maybe eat meat once a month and do not eat any of the beautiful fruit and vegetables they work 14 hrs a day to sell for $10/day …it’s just a suggestion…anyway I really enjoyed seeing your video and do thank you for it.
