Showcasing how we designed it, this is the first part to our mini-series on low voltage (12VDC, 24V & 48 volts) which can accommodate outdoor devices system such as video security and surveillance system, landscape lighting, holiday decor lighting - rope, fairy, firefly etc. In this series we will also show you how to install or mount cameras (wired or wi-fi) on a tree or a structure / building far away from power source or house without the expensive undertaking of hiring electricians to run 110V or other high voltage wiring underground. Most of the lower voltage lights are energy efficient and will be powered by electricity in the range of 12-volts. This kind of innovative lighting system can offer lots of benefits and are widely used not only around our home landscapes but can also be used outside an industrial and commercial buildings exterior as it can offer a high-quality brilliant luminance around the property, which is unique and cost-effective too.
Besides these low voltage lights being energy efficient and more environmentally friendly outdoors, you will find that LED landscape style lights will last much longer than any other type of conventional light bulbs such as incandescent or halogen equivalent lights.
What are the advantages of low voltage?
There is a reduced risk of electrical shock, making them more DIY-friendly. Cost-Effective: Low-voltage systems are generally more cost-effective than their high-voltage counterparts. The components and installation costs are typically lower, making them accessible to a wider range of homeowners.
Drawbacks of Low Voltage Outdoor Lighting
Low-voltage outdoor lighting can be more susceptible to voltage drop, which can cause the lights to become dimmer the further they are from the transformer. This is why it is important to ensure the home run wires are thicker 10 to 12 gauge cable.
