It was Kyra's mother who was poisoning her, not a doctor. The mom wasn't wearing a doctor's coat (which is usually white), she was wearing a bright red jacket at her daughter's funeral instead of black clothes like everyone else. her mom had a mental health condition called Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. A caregiver (usually a parent) who craves attention & sympathy resorts to inflicting injury or causes illness so other people will feel sorry for them & give praise for "being such a loving & caring" person. One of the most famous & horrific incidents is the recent case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard & her mother, Dee-Dee, whom she had killed in order to escape the abuse she suffered for years. Gypsy Rose ended up serving 10 years in prison & was released last December.

Watching them watch this movie made me realize what a masterpiece this movie is. They thought this was a drama about childhood abuse for like the first 45 mins of the movie, then they thought it was a horror movie for about 30 mins, then it became a feel-good movie about helping ghosts, and by the end they're both choking up ready to cry -- then and only then do they realize the main character has been dead the entire film and they literally saw it happen in the opening scene. Masterpiece.

@@DaKidsReact Fun reaction. First time watching you two. I saw this in the theaters when it first came out. Walked in having zero clue what the movie was about, which is the best way to watch this. I don't trust people who figure out the ending beforehand. I think they either got tipped off somehow, or have a super power I don't want to know about. Seeing this in a fairly packed theater, and having a whole theater gasp at the ending like they just saw a magic trick, was like no other movie experience ever. It literally felt like all the air left the theater.

You’d think Vincent of all people should have known that suicide would be no escape. No, I can understand the Mom being mad, as much as I understand Cole not wanting to tell her. She promised not to be mad if he told her the truth- that is, if he confessed to taking the bumblebee pendant. She couldn’t conceive any other possible explanation; so she believed he was lying to her. And as much as this was a mistake on her part, I honestly can’t really blame her. In a larger sense it meant she felt she was losing him. That’s why she got mad. It was the mom (or possibly the stepmom?) who was poisoning the girl. The way she was talking and interacting with her in the video- that isn’t how a doctor would be. And also the way the father reacted as he was watching, the way he confronted her afterwards? this was an _intimate_ betrayal.

No one ever remembers that Cole actually went to Kira's house ALONE. Malcom was there, but only in spirit. Literally.

There are several clues throughout the movie. At the beginning, Cole asks Malcolm if he is a good doctor, and Malcolm answer that he USED to be. At the end, as Cole reaches for the shiny silver door handle of Kiera's bedroom, you can't see Malcolm's reflection.

So glad that no one ruined that ending for you. This is the movie that put M. Night Shyamalan on the map. I saw this in the theater and everyone in there was in shock at the end. Really a spectacular film all around. Acting was amazing and that twist. OMG! I thought you both almost had it near the middle of the movie when you said that his wife got cold every time she went into the basement.

In the Pop-Tarts scene, it was a ghost who opened the cabinets. If you ever get a chance to watch the original "Poltergeist" movie from the 1980s, it establishes that ghosts can move objects like that. Other ghost movies have established the trope about the temperature getting cold when ghosts are upset, and the light halo in photos around the heads of people who are in the presence of a spirit.

Donnie Wahlberg is totally unrecognisable as his killer/old patient but absolutely unforgettable. He wasn't asked to lose all the weight he did for the role but he said it fit the character perfectly. ❤ this movie it was fantastic to watch in the cinema and the reaction to the twist was wild making it even better.

The Dr at the ER questioning the mom why Cole had those bruises is, M. Night Shyamalan. The director of the movie. He makes a couple of appearances in his films. Another would be the movie "Signs." That's a good 1

The writer and director of this movie's name is M. Night Shymalan. You saw him in the movie. He played the role of the doctor that wanted the social worker to come in and ask the Mom some questions. If you want to see another really good movie of his, check out the movie "Signs." It's a fantastic movie, of the same caliber as this movie. You'll shit yourselves. No cap.

I ended up sitting next to one of them that I hadn’t met yet, and we have now been together 24 years.
