I am in my 60s and had four children. My own mother used to say children are lended to us by God so we can love them teach them and prepare them to go on their own. You have done that you can be proud.

As the dad of a daughter who just got married a couple of weeks ago, I certainly empathize with the feelings you have when your daughter marries her "best friend" and a guy who you know will take care of her and put a smile on her face. 😮Somethings my late grandfather told me about building, 1, find a place with great drainage, he built on a 40 t0 50' gravel hill. 2, make sure you have plenty of water, he fell three large cedar trees and dug his well there on the gravel hill. 3 when building with logs, if live trees then remove bark around a inch from bottom and leave trees standing for one year so you have seasoned logs that won't split. I never got to use his advice so instead pass it on.

Congrats to Caroline and Matt. Love that Peter is learning to sail on a laser. That's how I learned to sail. I'm a life long sailor here in San Francisco. I upgraded to a 50' sloop, and I donate my free time to raise money for charities. I'm at $160k for Great Buddies, American Heart Association, California Highway Patrol 1199 Foundation, and a few others.. If any of you visit SF Bay, let's go sailing and raise money for your favorite foundation. Oh, and I drive a JLUR. Love your channel!

You are happy and joyful but there is a melancholy too as you come to the end of that chapter of your life and your kids leave home. It's definitely a transition and there is definitely some emotional longing to it as well. Everything changes. You made a great decision to spend all that time with them.And as they grow and marry and have kids of their own.Then you'll get to experience the most amazing joy of being grandparents and it is absolutely incredibly different than being a parent. As a mom it’s so bittersweet to see our babies grow and move on. A part of my heart left me when my youngest moved out and got married. I miss her so much! There is something about the mother daughter relationship. I have to say these last 6 years have allowed our relationship to grow into such a friendship and I value that so much too! I've been following your family for a number of years now and as empty nesters I feel your emotion for your kids moving into adulthood and entering in new chapters of their lives. I watched you most resent cooking video with Mama Carol and Caroline together and this was before the engagement announcement. I've seen Caroline is a lot of your videos and while she is always beautiful, there was a special glow and smile in that video that said to me something special, a happiness is going on with her. Oh my goodness! I have only known about EFRT for a month or two fish but I have watched episodes from the beginning until the present; and the same for the Adventure Guys, Dan van Stralen and Peter Jr's new channel. I am giddy now with all you have shared. Advice-wise; alaska will always be 'there' the wedding plans and pre nuptial events will only occur now until the wedding. I'd stay close but go get the truck, you can explore quick trips near home. I understand your feelings as I have 6 who have mostly grown and gone and they and their children ,my grandchildren, aged 20 to 26 have grown too fast and a new generation looms. How fun. All I have to do is live! Oh heck; I forgot I watch all your cooking channel shows too usually multiple times so I can write down what, how much etc. Fun. Maybe you could find a vacant, nearby island and 'sell' lots to your kids. God bless you all. This is an adventure all by itself and you still have the boys to go through it with later. Thank you so much for a great show. Prayers for a great summer and fall.

Sounds to me that life is good for your family. Change is one of those unstoppable things which normally can lead to wonderful things. Congratulations Caroline and Matt. Carol and Peter you have raised 3 amazing kids that have turned into amazing adults. Looking forward to see what Dan and Pete do with there own channels. And I wouldn't be too surprised if Caroline and Matt end up with a channel of there own with Caroline behind the camera. Ahh…looks like a Laser. I learned to sail on that boat and the Sunfish in the late 70’s. My dad sailed competitively. P.S. your lakefront cabin property is the perfect venue for a wedding. You (& bride and groom) don’t need to spend a fortune to have a most amazing and memorable wedding. I see too many people blow fortunes on expensive venues, party favors, catering and various accouterments…most of it entirely forgettable.

They are beautiful moments. The sale of your motor home would have been a monumental farewell of a huge stage of your lives enabling you as a family to start these amazing adventures. Wow…this brings back memories as to how it felt when kids left/married. Tugs at the heart! With 3 children we weren’t sure how to handle wedding $. So we heard of the idea of deciding on a lump sum to give to each one for their wedding. They could choose what to do with it. It worked out perfect. Every sunday we get ready for church then sit down and watch EFRT before we go. My mama heart was tearing up and my makeup was ruined lolol. I feel ya sister. My family is a very short time behind your. We have a son in high school and a daughter in college. For the past 4 years we have had a wonderful young man joining our adventure. He obviously loves our daughter. He is a protector, an adventurer, a man of God, a man of respect, he loves his parents and family, and he love my family. He recently became a police officer. As Carol said, I did not know I could love someone the way I love my kids. I know God is real when I am flooded with love for my wife and these kids. I love to see the smiles on your faces each week and I have loved to see how your family interacts for all these years. You guys are truly a gift to my heart. God bless your family as you represent him so well.
