CATHERINE and Gabriella describe themselves as the ‘ultimate mother-daughter duo.’ Together the pair travel, shop, model and dress in matching outfits - all the time. Catherine has two other daughters - Lauren and Sophia who the pair refer to as ‘the sisters’. They think their mom and sister’s relationship is ‘weird’. Lauren said: “Everything they do together is a little extra.” Sophia added: “Everything they do is very cringe.” Catherine and Gabriella started creating videos on social media together. Gabriella said: “People love it but they also love to hate it.” Comments have ranged from positive to judgemental and have accused Catherine of having plastic surgery to look like her daughter and living life through her. Gabriella said: “If someone says online that our relationship is unhealthy like who are you? Why would we care?” While Lauren and Sophia said they agree with some of the comments about their mom and sister being over the top, they vehemently disagree with the idea that they’re neglected as daughters. Sophia said: “We definitely get a lot of attention.” Lauren added: “We don’t need any more attention, we’re good.”

Maybe she was just shocked at such question. I am a single mother and have a 14 year old and we have an amazing relationship. We sometimes wear matching t shirts or shoes. We do almost everything together and also have our own individual activities on the side

But on the show Smothered, Gabreilla wanted to move out and live in an apartment with one of her sisters; the mother freaked out. She also wanted to quit competing in beauty pageants and the mother completely lost it. Needless to say, she's still living at home and still competing in beauty pageants.

this clarified for me that their mother is truly sick. she reminded me of things i’ve experienced in my home. i hope these daughters get the much deserved space and privacy that any growing adult would request at their age. it’s 100% normal for a growing adult to request space & distance. and the mother freaking out, is a blaring red flag that she’s obsessive with her daughter. those girls need to get out of that house FAST and NEVER look back. the daughters are not responsible for how the mother will react when they leave her. i know the feeling of bearing the responsibility of someone’s happiness and purpose, its a horrible weight. but the mom needs to find that in something that isn’t her daughters. the mother will never change. i think the daughters know she cannot be helped and that’s not their problem, it’s the moms problem. it will not be easy escaping from that mom, but it can be accomplished. overtime the girls will be able to see they are better off without someone watching like a hawk.

especially the part where the mom sat with them on the first date??? absurd. i understand the mother being nearby because the daughter didn’t know the guy very well. BUT SAT AT THE TABLE???? she ruined that date for her daughter. i would’ve been pissed. why couldn’t she sit in the far back?? she did NOT need to sit in on her date. that is pure manipulation to live through her. they can think they’re “unique” all they want. but it’s just excusing toxic behavior.

You would think that she would be but she seemed like she enjoyed being so weirdly close to her mom. They are even making content about it. When they asked the girl if her and her mom would always be that way, she enthusiastically said yes and even said any future man of hers would have to accept her mom and her the way they are together. The daughter didn't show any signs of embarrassment that I could see. She seems like she enjoys it!

They were in the "Smothered" show the daughter didn't like that her mom always wanted to wear everything similar and when she wanted to date someone the mom had to be there too and get the protagonist the daughter hated it, she also wanted to quit modeling and her mom was frustrated. I think the mom pushes her daughter to be what she couldn't achieve (ms USA). Overwhelming!! 🤦

The hesitation when the camera man asked “Do you want to be away from your mother?” Also, I feel horrible for Lauren and Sophia. They have to wake up to this (unless they don’t live in the same house) everyday. Plus, Gabriella and her mom claim that “they aren’t being left out” yet Lauren and Sophia call their mom by her first name. That’s rough, and they have the right idea to think it’s strange.

This is devastatingly embarrassing and isn’t healthy at all imo. I’m super close with my mom, she’s my favorite person, but we still need our personal space and even though my mom likes trendy clothes, we do not walk around in the same outfits. The mother can deny it, but the optics aren’t in her favor: it very much looks like she’s living vicariously through her daughter and the daughter low key looks uncomfortable with the whole thing.

The two scapegoated/invisible daughter are actually blessed in this mess. They will realize that when they are older living their own lives, while their golden child sister is trapped smothered for the rest of her mother's life. Yeah, like my poor sister. I went no contact. My sister won't ever be free from our mother's control. Not even now, married, with two little children. Almost 40 and mother keeps controlling her life. Mother sees her as her bestie and the relationship is suffocating for my sister, but she cannot set boundaries, not even now. While I was only abused by my mother, never loved, I feel like I have it kinda better, because I could free myself from the abuse. I am married to an amazing man. I have loving, emphatic in-laws. My MIL loves both her sons the same and let them live lives the way they want.

This was so funny because me and my daughters are just like that, only a lot more toned down. When they were kids I used to dress them the same as well and I would try to match my outfit. When I see others like that on the street it's obvious they belong together. I would even dress a little friend similar. That way, when I was looking for one, I didn't have to think about what they were wearing to find them between other kids. Now my oldest daughter will often wear dresses while the other two never do. I might try to color match with one of my girls but as I'm twice their size, it's nothing like in this video.

The 'haters' are all those people who think the mum isn't right. That's not hating, it's a very valid opinion. Just because the mum says "this isn't unhealthy", means it's true. She needs to let her daughter find herself and be an individual, and find a nice young man to love, the rest is highly disruptive to her daughter's mental development.

I’m sorry but as much as I would love to have a close relationship with my daughter there is no way that I would do this, I wouldn’t mind us wearing a matching outfit once in awhile but this is going too far, children need their own identity not to copy others all the time
