One of the best brands !! Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha are super reliable bikes! congrats, V-Strom 800 DE is good choise too, and less weight, good for off road, Transalp Honda are very good with only 208kg !!! one of the best!

Hey Oliver....congrats on the new Steed.....one of the machines that i truly admire- a machine that can literally take you anywhere to any terrain with ease and comfort, with a pillion too. Back in my country this is no more available only the 650 is. Here is wishing you both loads of happiness and miles in the days to come. Love from India.

Another British couple went around the world on a used CX500 Honda they paid 1400 dollars, the replaced the stator several times, the VStrom is one of the best but the simpler carbed lower center gravity cx might win.

Yes this has a pretty high centre of gravity but hopefully it won't mean too many falls 😂 Stay tuned to find out how our bike handles the trip! 😁🙏

A good choice. It's a well proven engine and should be comfortable for the pair of you. One of the riders from the MotorcyclingTO KZfaq channel used one of these when riding the TET through Greece etc. And it coped ok. Just don't get too ambitious.😀 Looking forward to the next vids.👍

@@LaviandOllie Suzuki VStrom is a very reliable bike to travel round the world with. Setup your luggage system carefully, install an additional pair of auxiliary lights, get a set of good crash bars to protect the sides of the bike, radiator guard to protect the radiator, thick skid plate to protect the underbelly of the bike and the bike is ready to go.

Interesting that you saw the Moto Guzzi. That's what I'm looking at buying, and why I ended up on your channel, because I want to travel around the world, and thinking the V85TT might be the one for me :D The downside to Moto Guzzi is that the dealer network is pretty limited. It's a shaft drive which means it's pretty reliable, BUT if something goes wrong in the middle of Africa, you're not going to have as much luck as the bike you bought.

Good luck on your trip. Being boring and pedantic...how will you get your visa's and work permits in all the different countries and pay your taxes?? What a nightmare..Love the idea, would hate the admin. Stay safe, keep us up to date and good luck!!!

It's easy for that because we won't earn any money so we don't need to pay taxes or get work permits! 😂 For visas nearly all the countries we've chosen are visa free or on arrival! 😁🙏
