I know I speak for the very minority of us, so you do you. The reason I watch your videos is to see parts of the world I may never get to see myself from a perspective I enjoy. Really cool episode. Love the J, cut my teeth on a J 24 in Annapolis. Would really like some attention to your excellent B&G system and how you use it. Here, you talked about sailing to your polars on the B&G, but I suspect many don't know what that is, or what the display is relaying to you to help you get the most course made good. I know it's a bit nerdy, but all us speed nerds are attracted to your channel, because you are not just adventurers, but speed freaks like us.

Beautiful places... it's like going on board. 95% of the sailboat tacks like in the America's Cup sailing, largely because Kate reaches the new perfect angle. We continue to be very entertained and we wish you excellent sailing.

Great video but may I politely suggest... if you are going to demonstrate sail trim you also mention what the wind strength etc is doing at that time... in just seconds, you did show your display a few times but it was gone before it could be absorbed ... I understood what you were doing so I'm just suggesting a way to deliver more to your overall audience... regardless... love your content

Backstay - adjusting the backstay a bit, is part of your "we're not racing, but cruising" approach to sailing? I wasn't even aware some boats would allow this kind of on the fly adjustment. My limitation, though. That said, it seems finicky to do so and to require a very deep insight into sailing (under sail) performance optimisation. I guess that's a compliment. Yes, it is.

Love the info on boat trimming. I don’t sail much, have a little Hobie Cat 14 currently and the family had a Blue Jay when I was in high school. Will be starting own adventure on land with a 20 ft Airstream travel trailer. Hopefully our first trip will be soon, even though we coming to the end of Fall and Thanksgiving.

I replaced my inner forestay with a dyneema stay on a quick release pin. I can now remove it for light air short tacking coastal sailing...so much easier. I can still have the staysail on there when I want it. Offshore the staysail lives there permanently, just as it used to.

Roxy has only been seasick once and that was in rough seas after licking a potato salad bowl. Would not give her anything with mayo in bed weather for the future. We are very luck with her!

speaking of heat ... don't forget, you pay for insulation once, and after that, it pays you. it's a saying in wisconsin here. i know insulating a sailboat is tricky, but that 2#/ft^2 Positive Buoyancy Foam is also insulation.... i mean slating dead space, for that peace of mind, can also keep you warm.

If a bit late(!!) reefing the main due to increased wind, does I in advance need to release all tension on the sail before reefing at all... in other words heading right into the wind?
