I love this conversation because I am the second oldest of technically 7 but 6 that lived in one household and I am so used to handling things because it was me and my older sister who had to hold things down… and we still do. This topic of relinquishing control is so powerful because so many of us black women struggle with it because we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders.

Man… my brain cannot be silent. I am always thinking of the next task. My daughter will be talking to me and I’m answering her in my head instead of out loud because I spend so much time in my head. Working on doing better but it’s a lot!

I get the spirit of what you’re saying R but for us introverted people, we cannot easily create our own villages. I used to do all sorts of activities with my daughter hoping to make some mom friends but I just sit there not making friends 😅. Considering moving back home because I need my village.

Agree Cheyenne… so much fighting between moms. All that matters is that the baby was born and the baby is fed. We have to start supporting each other and stop criticizing. I did not breastfeed because it was too hard after my c-section. I tried to pump for a while but my OB was like “unless this is important to you, stop forcing yourself” and I do not have perky boobs either and my daughter was on formula. I attempted to breast feed for 6 weeks lol. So I think it’s just that lady’s genetics.

It's normal in the netherlands to have a month of before giving birt.

I think the doula I thought about hiring was charging about $3500. This was for before birth and 1 or 2 visits after birth. This was in 2022.
