I started young with my son of being firm and having a firm voice and plucking him if he starts testing me. Just like Shanan said I put that firm fear in him.

Love this as always! Then tent is taking me out I don't know if I can stay in a tent. The bugs are definitely outside of America. I just do a lot of complaining. Can't go to Thailand because I only at chicken and can't go to Mexico because I'm scared of bugs. Then the 24hr flight alone. I'm Stressed!

R my younger brother used to have the body flailing tantrums till he was like 12 and now he’s emotionless and internalizes everything at 28 years old because my dad spanked him a lot for it. I think you have crack the code of getting through to him without scarring him for life because I’ve been trying to get him to open up more recently when I sense he is going through something and at the same time trying to figure out why he suddenly changed.

I never had the sex talk at home and Zach 🤦‍♀️ 😂. There was a girl in 4th grade talking about some boy “grabbing her cat” and that was almost 3 decades ago. My daughter and I have those body autonomy conversations and she’s only 6. Kids are exposed to so much at school. We have to teach a lot earlier these days because some kids are on TikTok and they pick up so much. I’m scurred.

I only ditched on senior ditch day but I had my fair share of suspensions even though I was Student of the Month for an entire year lol😂. Principal told me “ to punish you, I am going to remove you as student of the month” and I said “so, I’ll still be the smartest one in my classes” 🤣.

I have 3 boys. They are all different but they all learned at a very young age that they will respect me. There is nothing worse than being around a kid that don’t get disciplined, I like how Kyle was talking about he don’t know what’s his feeling are and talks it out, Shannon,Chey and Zach just sit speechless. You can tell they are dying to say whoop that ass😂😂😂 in my opinion.

36:31 sometimes you have to reason with and explain things to children, but in some situations you need to just discipline them (like when it's obvious they are just challenging you/being unreasonable)… sometimes overexplaining yourself to a child undermines your authority because then they feel like you always have to answer to them and then they always want to argue, question, and talk back. It's a delicate balance. Because kids also need to know when they simply need to listen to you because you said so (this is essential in emergencies when they need to immediately follow instructions so that you can keep them safe, for example). You gotta alternate between that explaining/talking it through, and that "don't play with me" 😂😂😂

Lol Shanan, I love that. I would have said the same like okay, do it. Cheyenne, been there 🤣. I asked my daughter to tell me what “s” word her friend said because usually it’s nothing bad and my daughter gave a few side glances and was like “shit.” I love how our girls tell all the Tea. I know who is failing, who makes “bad choices etc… I’m like I’m so glad I don’t have tea of my own.

R, spanking doesn’t work for me but my daughter is easy now. Baaz is at a challenging age where he is going to try you but they grow out of it. It is just a phase. I usually talk to my daughter about what she’s doing while she’s in time out and she hates it. For her, the punishment is the lecture. I have also taken off TV time.

Spot on R. I do not believe in parenting through fear either. I think it ultimately doesn’t help and it teaches them to use violence to get the results they want. No shade to anyone who parents differently because we all have our own parenting styles but that’s my perspective. Edit: actually I agree that putting the fear in at a young age g age makes sense. It can be the tone or a pop. I did have to pop my daughter a couple times but only for severe infractions but now I don’t because I felt soooo bad. Last time was when she was 4 and she kept hitting me and I popped her hard and now she still mentions it.

Based on what you’ve said in previous episodes, Baaz is in pain. I would honestly put him in therapy to work through the issues with his dad. I had to put my daughter in therapy for a short time because she became a selective mute. In the black community, we shy away from therapy because we don’t realize how many things impact them at such a young age. A lot of what he’s going through is likely acting out because he’s hurt and does not understand why he went through those life changes. Sending you lots of love because it’s a lot to deal with.

And please know I didn’t mean this disrespectfully. My daughter is very much like Baaz in that she will not let me go anywhere without her. It’s a struggle to even have my family do anything without her. Even when I had my wisdom teeth removed she was not having it. Told her I wanted to go on a vacation without her and she was like “no.” So I might be putting her in therapy again if I ever date because she needs to work through that possessiveness but chalk it up to being an amazing single mom R… that’s why he’s so attached.

Baaz does struggle with his Dad not physically being around and I have been looking for someone outside of myself aka a therapists for him to talk to and express himself. He will not tell his dad how he feels. I do believe that I have an open line of communication and Baaz lets me know how he feels OFTEN. I am very pro therapy - I started as a teen. // It is coming!

R, My suggestion is demand that RESPECT now from your boys. Having raised 2 boys (27 and 21), one day they will be bigger then you and you don’t want them to walk all over you. I do love how you parent:) I needed some of your calmness when i was younger:) My husband is a football coach so we are around TONS of young men. You can tell the ones that were raised w love and a stern foundation of giving and showing respect. It may only take you one time to buss his a**** really good. I was a firm believer if I am talking, you and you need me you ask to interrupt me, you give respect and respect will given. I agree, with how kids are not all the same. My 2 boys were not, and we had to be harder on the oldest one. They got spankings, yanked by the coller ... and i have even popped them in the mouth. Talk back if you want to. NOW... my daughter the baby gurl who is 16. Yall send me help!! I can do the boys all day:)LOL!!! You got this R!! Get that respect NOW! ITs not too late!
