Rare problem with shaft , used tractors with 4 wheel drive for 50 years never seen that happen, bearing problems and leaks of oil are normal , possibility metal fatigue. You were lucky it happened on back road , not on steep hill or at high speed. Enjoy your videos here in Scotland thanks for sharing.

The reason the Pinion shaft breaks is that you run the tractor in 4wd on hard surfaces eg the road you get wind up between the front and rear wheels.

I had a deutz did similar thing it was a major and some 100k tofix as we kept driving in 2wd and did even more damage after corkscrewing the driveshaft from it engaging the 4wd when hitting brakes At 55km. Make sure transfer output shaft is all good, as if it has damage bearing can vibrate and self destruct . 😅

That was a fun vid.( apart from the tractor breakdown 😢)Loads packed in there. Seeing the old cars reminded me of a relative of mine who drove me up the Coromandel on metal roads....in a Ford Anglia She was 85 .....😬😅 This is so awkward,I’m gonna have to rethink my business model. Mine was going to be called Merhemp....🤠

Pretty sure thats similar to what one of my neighbours deutz did during the cyclone. Engineering company managed to weld it back together for a cheap fix.

Uncle of mine collects restores vintage tractors. Has a wee mccormack you could eat off. My brother a deisel mechanic out on his own now could help you (is in Timaru and MF man!). How old was the Doitz When you got it? Hope the Milford trip went well

@@kiwifarmernz weird because it disappeared. Was just saying that D&E are the worst to deal with in my experience. Northern Tractors in Fernside are expecting a big shipment of Valtras very soon
