Tip of the day ; Take a 5 gallon bucket of seawater and pour it slowly over the frozen lines at the cleats, it will defrost them enough to make it a lot easier to untie. Once free dunk the whole line into the water to defrost it , coil them up and leave them on deck till it warms or in the shower. the water temperature was warm enough where you were to defrost the lines.

That 76 is a small ship. My favorites are still the Fleming yachts. But, I love the Nordhavn’s also. I currently have a Grand Banks, its nice to be able to do 20kts when you want to get somewhere fast. Glad I live on the gulf coast where it never gets that cold.

Excellent boat handling !!!! especially use of the wing engine and understanding how to use it in a very tight situation. If not handle properly you can get yourself into a big mess. Hats off to the Captain. I would feel at ease with you at the wheel. I have never done winter boating and would always feel uneasy with icing up.

@@mvfreedom looking in my pae paperwork here, looks like a 76 has a base price of $6.4m. of course that is stripped down with nothing, then you have all you customizations on top of that. i assume on a boat of that size you would have a min of $500k of add ons up to whatever you want to spend

Have you considered using the "port backing" tendancy of a single screw in conjunction with hard right rudder and jockeying ahead then astern while using the thruster to move the bow? The stern will move out to port, headway will be neglible, and the thruster moves the bow inder control.

Yay! We’re winter mooring at Point Hudson and the wind at night has been a pretty regular occurrence. Makes me feel better to know a seasoned boater thinks it’s bad too! This is not regular rolly go to sleep wind in a marina - it’s being slammed against the dock 😋 the views, town, and people make up for it! We’ve also gotten more creative with dock lines going in and out of the slip too.

Yes, the centrifugal force causes the prop to open while engaged in gear. Once disengaged from gear the water pressure when making forward way will force the prop closed.

I noticed his shirts are so short, every time he bends over to do something us viewers get a front row seat to white back & butt crack lol. Oh, and he also needs a belt! Keep up the videos, they're great! 👍🏾 You do a wonderful job at trying to curve out or pixel many of those crack moments. 😆

Not trying to be a know it all and there are many ways to dock and leave the dock. But I see a lot left for you to learn on how your lines can be used for assistance so you don’t have to look so rushed all the time in unfavorable conditions, Especially with all that space you have boating out of season. A great time to practice new more advanced techniques. I’m not a big life jacket guy but with all the options today and in that weather I’d wear them on icy docks etc. coming for a guy who road a motorcycle without a helmet for years I’m even surprised I’m saying that.
