Good job getting a breakdown out so quickly! You did well to notice Shelton Cape Realty - I didn't pick up on that, although I heard Joy explaining it to her wife later. I also loved Joy's arc this season. Episode 4 was amazing. I kind of agree about Rhett and Marie. They didn't have enough to do, and they seemed to be on the periphery of the action most of the time. And I missed the interaction between the two brothers. The "random girl" Royal was kissing was "Sissy Abbott," according to imdb and the actress's social media (Ashlynn Hideman). I assume they're sisters, but I have no idea why anyone would have daughters called Cece and Sissy. Sissy is also the woman in the dream sequence at the end. The older couple at the far left seem to be Royal's adoptive parents (Cecelia and Sissy's parents) as Ashlynn Hideman posted images of the two Abbott sisters together with the parents. Falling Star tells Joy she came from 1972, not 1976. Autumn does mention that she was adopted as a nine-year-old, having remembered nothing before her "accident," so we can assume the person she's on the phone with is her adoptive mother. I don't necessarily agree with your reasoning that the cult must be "a mixture of the women from the shelter and maybe others from Cece's congregation" because most of her followers are "easily manipulated." This is because (a) the cult members shown are a good mix of men and women, not predominantly women; (b) we have no reason to conclude that women at a shelter or people at Cece's church are "easily manipulated," and (c) research suggests that people who are taken in by cults are not "easily manipulated." They're often very intelligent. The process of inducting intelligent people into a cult is incredibly complex and involves gradually breaking down barriers and changing thought processes. In Autumn's case, she's obviously relying heavily on the supernatural power of the mineral she smears on the mouths of her followers. So we couldn't really accuse them of being easily manipulated when there's actual magic (or whatever) involved. The ringing ears happen when the hole reappears. Young-adult-Royal explains this to Perry. I don't think we have any evidence that Amy landed on her head, and if she did, a head injury severe enough to cause long-term amnesia usually causes other physical symptoms. In other words, she probably wouldn't be sitting up and talking. I'm not sure why travelling in time affected her this way, although I had the impression that she travelled geographically, i.e. landed somewhere other than the West pasture. There's no mountain range visible behind Amy or in the opposite direction behind the hikers. The hikers who find her don't look futuristic in any way. Another thing I noticed is that the moment Autumn dies (before she comes back to life) we cut to Amy lying motionless on the plain. When Autumn resurrects, Amy suddenly wakes up, and both Amy and Autumn gasp for air simultaneously. Maybe the death/resurrection of her future self has something to do with Amy's memory loss or confusion about her identity. Cecelia mentioned earlier that Autumn's scars had disappeared, and at one point said "she's not our Amy." So maybe there are multiple Autumns and Amys, and maybe Autumn's consciousness entered Amy. That could be why Amy develops mental health problems (for which her adoptive mother medicates her). The Autumn in the present could now have ended up with Amy's relatively calm persona.

When Amy fell into the hole she did so at a crazy, kinda like side spinning angle, I felt like majority of others fell into the hole almost in slow motion, *Royal falling backwards grabbing at air* *Perry diving in* *Wayne diving in* idk something about Amy’s just felt more aggressive in a way and I wonder if that’s why she wakes up all shooken up and forgetful because he path through the hole was so violent

I found this season interesting but I totally agree that it wasn't as cohesive and rounded as season 1. I'm guessing this could be because they changed the showrunner. Outer Range was created by Brian Watkins but he left (or was dropped??) and was replaced for season 2. Having the creator not carry on may certainly have contributed to the creative differences between the two seasons . Having said that there was enough to keep me interested BUT I hope there is an end strategy in place and the show doesn't just keep going on and on (eg by continually creating more mysteries to be answered!)

Just got around to watching and loved it. Didn't know they changed showrunner but pretty sure they mapped out the story in advance. I think this was planned as 3 or 4 season story. I love time travel sci-fi and this reminds me of Dark which was a pain to watch reading subtitles. They developed the story and characters further and now it seems everyone is jumping into the hole to solve life's problems and creating a time loop mess. So far season 2 is as good as season 1 and we got a glimpse of what's to come in season 1 episode 2 as the gov't and everyone wants a piece of that land and everyone wants to time travel. One thing that's confusing is how did Joy travel back to the past as she didn't fall into a hole. The sci-fi is bonkers.

Also what people have to realize is there was a massive writer’s strike immediately after season 1 of this series. They changed the show runner from season one and brought in the guy for Sons of Anarchy which ran for SEVEN seasons! I’m happy not everything was figured out in season 2, we got questions answered from season 1 and we got even more questions gained from season 2, that’s exactly what you want from a show, to keep you asking for more! Very excited to see where this series goes for season 3 and hope without a writer strike and front office change, that we’ll get it even sooner than season 2 💪🏽💪🏽

Season 2 we have a lot more questions but when it comes to time travel you're not gonna get all the answers and not everything makes sense. What's cool in season 2 is we see everyone wants to jump in the hole to solve life's problem and it's starting to create a time loop mess. The gov't scientists looks like they're going to move in on the land.

@@Hereregoagain This is where it gets confusing. Roy started it jumping into the hole to escape killing his dad and Joy jumped in trying to save him. Perry jumped into the hole out of depression or maybe to look for his wife and ends up meeting his younger dad back to the future style. Autumn pushes Roy into the hole taking him to the future so he quickly jumps back. Autumn throws her younger self Amy into the hole to start the snake eating its tail loop. Perry throws his dead self into the hole to take his double's place in a new future reality. Roy did the same throwing Trevor's dead body into the hole to cover up the murder only for the body to turn up on a hilltop. Then Wayne the insane dad burns his own house down for whatever reason and jumps in the hole looking for who knows what... salvation? But Joy never jumped in the hole when she traveled back in time she just walked along a path of black dust and somehow sees stampeding buffalo so you don't need to jump in the hole to travel thru time. This show is kinda like Dark but good thing here is I don't have to read subtitles. I'm loving this show so far. Let's hope we get another season.

My thoughts pretty much align with yours in this thorough review! If you liked Joy, check her out (Tamara Podemski) in Reservation Dogs where she plays Teenie. One of the best shows ever made. Yeah, this season, I really wasn't invested in Rhett's story, he was basically just a cameo, whereas last season, he was the only sort of pure-hearted Abbott, and I liked his character a lot. I really didn't like Cecilia assaulting Louis, but I think it was part of the theme of "we think we're the goodies but we're doing baddie stuff" this season. Autumn, Billy and Luke are part of that theme, and Perry. Joy sitting parked across from the real estate agency owned by the descendants of that guy was a great meditation of "the more things (times?) change, the more they stay the same" and the loss of land and horrors of colonization. Land disputes being also pretty central to the show. Like you I was most invested in the Royal, Autumn, and Joy storylines. Cecilia, too, but she also got on my nerves assaulting Louis, so that's a draw for me. Perry didn't seem like he learned much from the past. Only enough to stop himself killing Trevor. But then, dumping his own body into the hole knowing Trevor's body resurfaced on the mountain when he and Rhett dumped it in the hole last season was a real head scratcher for me. Why you gonna risk the same happening in THIS timeline, with your own body, like... that's gonna raise a LOT of eyebrows, too! He's a frustrating character for me. I liked young Royal, though. Christian James did a great Josh Brolin voice, and presence, and would have made a great new DCU Superman, I thought. He can do the farm guy thing, and he could wear the suit as well. I would buy him as Clark Kent, new reporter from the Midwest, and as Superman. Overall, I liked the season, but we did a LOT of treading the same ground, and not a lot of mysteries answered or new clues. Seems we're jumping timelines, not just times. Perry is in a whole new reality now. Really hoping the show doesn't get cancelled because I would like resolution to this story, and not some kinda Raised By Wolves type cancellation.

She's knocked unconscious and obviously suffered enough of a concussion that she has no clear memory of her self, and remembers Autumn's name out of trauma. Much the same way Royal forgot he had killed his own father.

Perry’s actions in the past will show up in season 3. He’s left the tillers on boy alive instead of killing him. There WILL BE repercussions for that. Also Abott farm had been save in the future but I think they’ll lose it now that all 3 boys are alive in the past (so the domino affect of the other two dying/going rogue may not happen) thus causing Royal to actually lose the farm (as in autumn & royals visions all thru both seasons so far) bc of the original deeds saying it is Tillerson land. Also, Perry DID likely make sure his parent get together by Showing Cecilia that Wayne is a cheater. (No way will she stay w him in my opinion bc she’ll be aware and watching for more clues of him cheating, if she doesn’t just dump him outright)

I replayed the scene where Perry finds Royal on the side of the house kissing the other woman in episode 6 and I believe that is the woman you are referring to in Royals vision. The unknown woman could be an alternate timeline of Royals where he ends up with her instead of Cecilia. But if that's the case, then wouldn't that create a timeline without any of the Abbotts as we've come to know in these first 2 seasons? I would have liked more answers about the hole and it's time traveling properties but I am intrigued to see if some of the changes in the timeline with Perry creates a butterfly effect or an alternate universe.

This show feels like a really interesting concept that the writers simply have no idea what to do with or how to explore. I get this impression based on all the filler they throw at us. How many empty minutes of Royal driving around do we need to see? How many times do we need to see Autumn carrying on like a banana nut muffin or Wayne Tillerson having a meltdown or Luke shadow boxing himself or Billy singing a song? I'm sure it's great fun for the actors, but none of it moves the story forward. They don't give us - the audience - anything really. There's no discernible story unfolding. I don't really care about this family because across 2 seasons they've never really let the audience in or give us a chance to get to know them. How can you get to know people if they are always alone or missing? The line "we'll talk about that later" should never be in any script ever. You gathered all the actors, the camera man, the audience is listening ... talk about it NOW. Talk about something that helps us know the characters, their relationships, their history better.

@@MovieFiles yeah but they weren't together at all in the past Cecelia was with Tillerson. Remember Royal was also with the Native woman. So maybe by him exposing Tillerson for being a cheat and a liar, a long the way, she and Royal got together and got married. Because even when Cecelia went to him about borrowing the money for the farm he said yes but Royal has to apologize to him for taking Cecelia away from him. Which means something in the past altered them from being together which has to be Perry. Because remember Royal said to Perry that he was the first person to tell Cecelia the truth about Tillerson being a cheater. Remember that Royal himself can't remember some stuff and he actually said he made a mistake hunting and killed his father but in actuality Joy put the pieces together and it was he intentionally shot his father to save Joy. So maybe 🤔 by Perry exposing Tillerson for not being a good man that she and Royal linked up and got married instead therefore stopping Tillerson from receiving the land he so desperately wanted if he married Cecelia.

I really enjoyed this season and thought many of the plots (even the boring ones) made sense. I have a feeling that most of the characters have some kind of motivation to move the show forward... they went beyond the "good vs evil" of Royal and Auttum. Regarding the cause and effect thing, I had a feeling that there's no linear timeline, maybe there are parallels timelines ocurring... Joy went back on the same timeline, but Perry skipped to an "alternate". Maybe when Royal and Auttum touch each other they kind of flatten the timelines and they get overlapped (that's why Joy went back without going through the hole and the reason why other people saw wierd things come in and out of reality).

Royal’s Dad when walking him into town to buy the shoes says something along the lines of “Son, don’t you ever mistake an Indian for a white man” and I think the grief of killing his father in general, paired with the fact that he did it to save an Indian, was why Royal lied about how it happened. But I believe now based on realizing he saved Joy’s life and their relationship in the current time, I think he finds closure in doing what he did and gains a little freedom that way. A release if you will.

Perry switched clothes. I'm thinking they'll find the body of "Ben Younger" in the timeline he was in before. Perry not killing Trevor greatly changes the whole course of the show. New timeline created. But it's inconsistent with the need for Autumn to throw young Amy in the hole for her to exist because in her timeline it already happened. Time travel is the worst kind of fiction to write. I love it but it can go off the rails very easily.
