Outrage as UN picks Saudi Arabia to head women's rights commission | DW News

Saudi Arabia will now be responsible for promoting gender equality worldwide. The kingdom has been chosen as the next chair of the UN's top forum for women's rights, despite its questionable record at home.
The kingdom's ambassador to the UN, Abdulaziz Alwasil, will lead the Commission on the Status of Women. Saudi Arabia's unopposed bid has been heavily criticized by human rights groups. The Saudi government has repeatedly jailed women's rights activists.

The other day I read that Saudi Arabia was projecting its own 2030 agenda with a modernization of the country, with investments and advancing gender equality, "such as recognizing the right of women to drive." However, leaving aside the natural laughter, it cannot be denied that the son is different from the father, in fact, for the first time in history a Saudi woman is going to participate in miss universe, that is, she is going without a hijab, with bikini and stuff. I know it seems very little, but the changes are slow, although the intention seems clear and in a good way. However, for directing, I think he is still a little green.@@johnd2058

I find it good it was on Dubai. All those energy changes in Europe plus the gas deal breaking between Russia and Germany did cost us a lot of money and many people can't pay their energy bills anymore. Nice to see people not to live on such eschatologic visions like our government with hailing the earth warmth pumps all the time.
