How to overcome client objections? Why do I lose project bids? What do I need to do to win clients?
Jose Caballer and Chris Do tackle the difficult issue of closing the sale.
Annotations:
--
1:08 Shift the conversation away from dollar amount and give it context.
1:50 Roleplay: Overcoming price objections
6:05 Clarify and surface clients underlying objections
7:35 Spend time learning what the real problem to solve is, and be ready to change what you are selling to accommodate when you hit a barrier
8:50 Find the problems, challenges, and needs as it pertains to the person you are talking to
9:45 If you are a solopreneur or don't have a large office space for meetings, dress sharp, and go to your clients office
10:45 Don't focus on the aesthetics: focus on what the business objectives are
11:33 Enlist the help of the company advocate to reposition the service a create a proposal that makes sense.
12:30 Point out the asymmetrical logic when it comes to services
14:12 For much larger bids, if you have a qualified network, assemble an all-star team of experts to lend credibility to your bid
18:06 If you don't have that network, reach out to people who you believe can be mutually benefited from your proposition
19:35 People will pay a premium for the insurance of getting things done as expected (or better than)
19:52 The Punch: Create a Top 7 Reasons/Strengths List of why your client should award you the bid
21:10 Get References: ask for clients to be a reference if they are over the moon with the experience before ending the engagement
21:45 Be Yourself, be authentic
21:30 Q: How do you deal with the 'no'?
26:16 If you were referred but still got a no, you can try enlisting the referrer into influencing the decision with the client
27:59 How to deal with 'Not right now'
30:00 If the person you are talking to personally wants to do the deal, but for other reasons, their higher ups wouldn't sit well with it, see if you can enlist their help to frame your offer to assuage their objections and exceed their expectations
31:17 Brake down the project in a way that makes them more comfortable to get them on-board
32:50 Manage expectations of everyone on the team with live feedback throughout the process

It is so crazy to see The Futur's journey. I am loving all of their videos and watching this from so long really speaks to their mission. I literally started watching the videos about two weeks ago and I am getting recommended videos from 7 years ago. I would almost love Chris to do a reaction video or "look at the past" kind of video.

You guys are offering so much value to me. I am just starting my video business. I had done video gigs in the past for low prices. But this time I am revamping myself to a Video Marketing Consultant with higher priced packages (or rates that I actually value them at!). Your channel + videos has been helping me shift my focus and thinking in very positive and uplifting ways! Thank you Chris, Jose!

Great Ep fellas. Having been a salesman for many years I think for many creatives understanding his or her sales process is important. You gave great strategies to use for objections and it doesn't matter whether you are selling a marketing strategy or a plane, objections will come. Understanding and listening and then not getting flustered is something you can only gain exposure on by doing. Again, great episode.

I think the title of this video isn't catchy enough. I would have never clicked without the shorts teaser but found it really interesting in the end

This happened to me with a big client actually but I quoted on a book design. I guess there's also the aspect that clients will look at as an individual or worse an employee and break it down hourly.
@thefutur
@thefutur 7 жыл бұрын
you are allowed to dictate the terms in which you will work. if the client insists on hourly rates, you can always say no. it's not my policy to work that way.
@great567

Right. I think what I meant to say, is that I'll give a quote and people will break it down into time because that's how they earn their living. For example, I gave my point of contact a 6 figure quote over 9.5 months for the book, and she replied "That's more than I make a year"-------I should have corrected her and said, it's not about time but rather value or like you said, start with a small step of the contract to give it to her boss. Instead, I pointed out that it took a least 3 salaries to write the book so far (Manager, editors etc) so in reality, design was the smallest expense. (This is a very big organisation and they run ads on TV)

He just brought up several complicated pitching scenarios from past events, that’s the baggage I was referring to. It was a bit counter productive at times.

Jose's arbitrary scenarios bring up a good problem though. When/how do you know when it's time to walk on a client? When you've identified a non-sale or a client that just isn't worth the trouble?

Hi Chris, first of all great video very informative i have actually started using these tips in my conversation with clients, but i do have one question though these tips works great when you are having a b2c conversation or business but how should i convince the client when its b2b like i will give you an example i am a freelance 3d visualizer and when i am dealing with an architect who wants me to make some 3d images for a client of his but he thinks i am charging too much.

He is all over the place with his troughs. I don't think you should do so much approval seeking and instead just say her this is the price. If the object just say well my price is this but lets talk ways to get around this objection. What would make this work for you? Or how can we make this easier to move forward with this?
