O-dog has always been right about these group of guys.They rely on skill and luck but aren't willing to put in the grind and work it takes to win. They wanted to be payed like champions but can't play competitive smh

So the big 4 for Toronto haven’t scored but it has nothing to do with Florida, wow theses guys are true homers ,

I've always said that these young Leafs, in their hearts, don't give af if they win. It's just a job. No pride, no passion and no real connection to what it has meant to be a Maple Leaf. I went to game 5 last series in Toronto and ran into "Killer" and he had more intensity,pre-game than any of the current Leaf Players. They all need to watch a few playoff games from the 90's to see what actual heart looks like. I bought tickets for game 5 of this current series believing that there was no way the Leafs get swept. Now, I'm just waiting for my refund post game tomorrow. Truly sad and pathetic.

Don’t you guys get it??? Marner plays the game of hockey to make sure he avoids and body contact at Any costs. Every single shift that is the strategy. Avoid contact first. When he has some space hes fine to make plays. In the playoffs everything happens a bit quicker and space is closed down much faster. Marner has no use on this hockey team. At his Cap hit the Leafs are buried. Wont be easy to trade him.

I never bought into the Leafs winning a round, so they accomplished more than I thought they would. Pretty sad expectations.

I’ve been saying this… they need to go 100% and give a complete effort as a team without caring about any extra bumps and bruises you get from playing that certain style of hockey, look at MR44 and what he’s willing to do for the team (the man crashes the net, battles for the puck, and takes all those extra bumps and bruises like a champ before you see him back at it and he gets rewarded for those plays… he makes me proud to have a MR44 jersey, even when he had a rough season because I knew he had it in him) and now I expect them to actually give the effort to win games, both sides of the red line, because their back is against the wall.

5 straight playoff games with 2 goals scored is unnaceptable.

All this time I thought the Panthers were on the verge of sweeping the Leafs because they're playing intense, lights out hockey , turns out its only because the Leafs dont want it as much....

The only positive thing going into next game is there’s no pressure on them anymore because everyone has counted them out. I know a comeback is next to impossible but damn people would go crazy if it happened.

MLSE understands that “playoff hockey” doesn’t sell an 82 game season. Core-four hits all the marketing buttons, sells luxury boxes, and the regular season calls penalties which favours open-ice “flashy” play. Having said that, navigating the No trade clauses in the core four contracts will be tricky, and they’ll have to time trades to maximize the return on them.

The leafs came out for five minutes firing on all cylinders and then it just switched to a regular season game like what happened .

Had to see this coming... Leafs were very lucky to get past a banged up Tampa team, so how did everyone think they were going to magically turn it up against a team that had just knocked off the Bruins? They seemed totally unprepared for Florida, underestimated them (they owned them in the "regular season"), and as usual thought all they had to was show up. Lots of blame to go around, but Keefe has lot of things to answer for. Think he's out of a job already. Pretty clear they won't go anywhere with this "soft centre" core. Time for some drastic changes.

Marner has played his worst game for us. Marner is the only one that knows how to carry this team offensively. They keep trying with Mathews and never has happened. Hence, the blowout we are experiencing. Marner is fine without Mathews. Give him the time to shine and we win. Its a miracle we got out of the last round because we played like crap there too at least we were getting some scoring. But after a great start last round Manrer was disappearing against Tampa and its now showing into the Florida series.

Dubas, and Keefe are finished. Might as well throw Shanahan in the mix too.

Why does Shanahan get a pass? You walk from Lamoriello to get a boy wonder from the AHL. Then you sign off on a goofy plan to spend half your cap on 4 forwards. Then you allow boy wonder to walk from a Stanley Cup winning coach to snap up an AHL coach. Who has won nothing. This is Shanahan's team. And he's got to own the results.

When Florida was T O in regular season Maurice absolutely lost his stuff on the bench when his team wasn't playing well, they in turn whent on to win the game, where is the response from Keefe....should he have to go down the bench and hug each player? Very frustrating being a leaf fan for 50 years and not seeing some intensity from the core 4!

It's time for "Attack Mode game plan ", stay with the 11-7 lineup. If the final outcome is a 8-6, so be it. Line combo's that were effective once upon a time- Matthews with Nylander and Jankrok (brings more offensive options then Bunting), O'Reilly with Marner and Tavares ( LW less defensive responsibilities on the wall). Rotate remaining 5 fwds in any combo, while keeping the above mentioned 2 lines intact. Roll with Rotation of 3 lines , NOT 4. Win/improve Neutral Zone puck battles, very least be even ( gm 3- Fla 13-3). Better "chasing down offensive Rebounds- 2nd shots", especially by the Leafs 3rd high slot fwd. "Attack mode", Leafs need to play on their toes and put Fla on their heels approach. Go Leafs Go

Its very simple regarding Marner, he is simply NOT TOUGH ENOUGH for playoff hockey. He is afraid to get hit, can't hit back, just not a playoff competitor.

Florida won Presidents trophy last year and are arguably better now with Tkachuk.

I agree with you guys 100%. But, what I think your missing is these core 4 guys are who they are. They aren't going to do what they've never had to do. They're not going to knock their opponent around or impose their will on anyone. Slick plays and cool twirls work in the regular season but not now. The playoffs are a dog fight. The Leafs have no dog in the fight opening up time and space for the skill guys. This team is not built for the playoffs. It's just not in their DNA.

I think you can build a team around Marner but the leafs are not built to compliment him. I think he needs guys who will win board battles and gives him a bit of room. So I say this summer sign Mathews for 8yrs at max. Trade Marner to strengthen the defence. Get a reliable goalie health wise and I think this team will be better for playoffs.

Marner.. at all costs tries to avoid giving or taking a hit, very frustrating how soft he is out there. He's accustom to having more time to make a fancy play, obviously he's not built for the Playoffs.

How can any of you be surprised!? HOW!? Also, I have a bridge for sale, by the way. Pristine bridge. Totally awesome bridge that I’m maybe looking to sell. I’m not hell bent on moving it, but for the right offer I’d be willing to part with this bridge. It’s a pretty sweet bridge. I can paint it blue and white for an additional fee, which won’t be that much. The bridge itself is worth much more than what I’d be willing to sell it for. And on top of all of that, I have a reputable bank willing to give loans out to buy this bridge. Owning a bridge is definitely a long term investment. How about saying what no one is comfortable saying. This team doesn’t care about the Stanley Cup. It is hard to win, there’s not much money in wining the SCF (the whole teams gets a bonus of $3.75 million, that’s about $100-150K per person depending on how the team divides the bonus, that’s about 1% of their salary. Why risk injury and kill themselves to win the cup when they can take it easy, play golf and relax. Teams need to want to win the cup. The Leafs couldn’t care less!

Yes Matthews & Marner , but... what is the coach's job ? Here I'll answer; to get every player on the team to play with intensity and really engage. For the past 4 yrs. these Leafs don't do that. They do not listen to Keefe. Fire Keefe & Dubas both. Dubas once again gets a player past his prime; O'Reilly. Remember Thornton and Marleau ?

Kerfoot, Jarnkrok, Bunting, Brodie, Holl, Gio, Lilly, ZAR should not be back next year. If Matthews or Willie don't resign both should be gone at the trade deadline.

Hope I’m still around in 2042 when the leafs break the second round curse They don’t play with any heart or grit, only interested in their contract. Only players that have the grit to win are Reilly and O’Reilly, everyone else hit the snooze 2 mins into the game(s) the top scorers are doing enough but passing it back and forth and making foolish plays, I doubt I will watch game 4. I’ll watch Picard all over again or something more entraining.

Toronto simply isn't good enough to get it done. Their experiment failed. When you're paying that much money to only a few players, and they don't get it done, you cripple the team.

Mr game 7 Justin Williams..hes a guy who knows what it takes to win. I always wished he would have played for the Leafs, they could definitely use a guy like that. O'Reilly has brought something different that they haven't had before, but its not enough.
