Today i'm sharing my very personal review on what I consider some overhyped, overrated AND over used skincare products of 2020. Plus, two products you thought were overhyped this year! These brands and tools have been popping up all over instagram and youtube and people have been raving about them! But are they any good? From Tik Tok famous The Ordinary's The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, Glossier's Future Dew, Tatcha Rice Cleanser!
These are some of the most overhyped skincare products on the internet today!
Let me know what you think of these products in the comments box down below!

Present - Gifted Item (Product was sent to me as a gift, no money has been exchanged and there is no obligation to feature product(s) on social platforms)
AD Megaphone - Sponsored item (Brand has paid me money and I have signed a contract for the item to appear in the video. This may be a quick feature or a whole dedicated product)
Chain Link - Sponsored Affiliate Link (The video has been sponsored and an affiliate link to the sponsored product is a requirement in the video. The link used for the sponsored item is tracked by the brand and I make a small percentage of that sale)
Dollar Bill - Bought with my own money (Product was paid for with my own money and I have no attachment to the brand in the particular video)

Also, i'm obviously not a dermatologist or a doctor, so all opinions on products and anything else i'm presenting, is results and findings from my own experience and research.
And that's why i'm here, to share my research and my findings that go further than what is said on the bottle or google!
But, everything I present is always a discussion for you to join in with :)
If you have any serious skin concerns, please see a dermatologist / doctor.

JUST BECAUSE I KNOW NOT EVERYONE WATCHES THE WHOLE VIDEO BEFORE COMMENTING: CeraVe was picked as an 'overhyped' brand from my Instagram followers. I personally do not agree with this at all! Do i PERSONALLY find it boring and not necessarily the best for my skin? Yes. But I don't think a brand that is popular for a good reason (because the products actually work for the vast majority of people) can be classed as overhyped. This also applies to The Ordinary, amazing products, some products were....overused....this year. But again, popular does not equal overhyped, especially if they work!

I think that James refers to CeraVe being too simple from a product prospective. I have my 1L bottle and I think it is effective, but I must agree with James that from a formulation stand point it is basic and sometimes the skin needs something "better", even if it means paying a bit more.

I can go from one year to the next and never see a pimple or break out. Two weeks after using cerave it’s like I’m wearing someone else’s skin. And these spots just will not go. Thank you! No person's opinion is fact because it is just an opinion. I do a lot of eye rolling when scrolling through Hyram's and other creators' comments. @@Ac-he6eu no hate on him, not blaming him at all! And the disclaimer is all well and good, but i think seeing someone speaking with so much certainty as a young person is just gonna generate an assumption that they’re right. It’s not on him per se, but he could do a little better to present a more balanced perspective. I just feel like he sticks to a very one-sided argument, and we can’t really blame 15 y/os for not doing tons of research. as the partner of a cannabis chemist, I can tell you that 99% of non-medical products are not going to give you benefits associated with cbd. there's also not enough research afaik to say that cbd actually has benefits for your skin. if you want topicals and creams, go to the dispensary or other medical establishment if you can access one. if not, I personally wouldn't spend the extra money to buy a marked-up cream that says CBD on the packaging.

I don't understand the fact that even though sunscreen has to be used a LOT in a day, companies pack a few mls in a bottle and overprice it. It's in tiny tiny bottle and I hate that. Create sunscreen in larger quantities and then people may use enough. Otherwise it's a splurge for some people.

Oh my god, what you said about the AHA/BHA solution brought back a lot of bad memories. I work in a job, where during a 48 hr. shift, there's no time to indulge in skincare. I'd get back home and couldn't wait to get all the grime off my face. This was my nightmare deep clean routine: Double-cleans, exfoliating scrub and then fall asleep with the AHA/BHA solution on my face for several hours. Always had breakouts the following days and couldn't understand, why? My skin was so clean!😆 Thanks to channels like this, I got my skincare sorted and I even get to practice it, when I'm on shift. I work in a children's home with teenagers and we now have regular "pamper evenings". We talk about skincare, the importance of sun protection and the kids are loving it. Thanks, James, from myself and the kids.🥰
