Two items I've installed to my version of this setup (inspired by your africa jeep)... First is a flow rate adjuster. I keep it fairly low for cooking/ water bottle fill up but I can adjust it so the pump is full blast. Helpful with the sprayer if the dogs are dirty. Second is on the output side I have another tee fitting. One side goes to a fixed sink on the end of the JKs tailgate and the other end goes to a sprayer. Best of both worlds!

Great work. One small suggestion would be to put a switch protector over the on/off switch to protect from accidental bumps as you are driving over rough terrain and your load shifts.

Very good system I built something very similar. I would run water out of the tank through the pump and filter then back into the tank to give all the water a good clean if it was getting stagnant.

To save your system filter cartridge, if the water source is noticeably less than pristine, it could be pre-filtered using some dense cloth when it is poured into the bucket the water will be suctioned from. Then these pre-filtering cloths could be hand washed, dried, and reused for the same purpose when needed. It would probably make the store bought ($$) system cartridges last longer.

Yes, most new carbon filters will make the water black. Best thing to do is to run a gallon through that you can use for something else. Those pumps are super durable. It looks like you selected some great parts.

Looks great! When filling from a pressurized hose, you could just leave both "input" valves open, and the pressurized water would just push into the tank, bypassing the pump.

I’d be cautious about hard-fixing the tank with the built-in bolts, given the stresses that corrugations / off-road bumps could cause. Strapping the tank in, and a good piece of sturdy foam underneath might protect the tank better.

If you cant find it in at the corner hardware store in Australia. you have to go to industry specific stores. Ie irrigation suppliers…There is no problem we haven’t encounter before. When we did anything with water on our last camper we went to a plastic injection moulder for the tank, we chose one of there pre designed template that would fit the space the best, went to an RV place for the pump as they had it in stock and available on the spot. And any piping and filters we went to an irrigation specialist in town. Almost any large community centre out in the bush have an irrigation shops. People just thinks it for crops only. as far as I know they all do food grade too, they have every thread under the sun any pipe and connectors in what ever materiel you want and huge selection of filters. Down side it’s more expensive, but it looks the part and lasts.

Definitely informative. Thanks for sharing Dan. 👍 If you don’t mind I say so, maybe doing a short length suction to hang just below your switch box may remove chances of water wetting the tank surrounds. This short length pipe with a clip adapter can be a more permanent setup and can be connected ( plug or unplug ) to your normal flexible suction pipe. Just my two cents worth. Haha!

I would have made one of the fittings in the bottom of the tank, so i could have a gravity fed valve if the pump is not working. Are those bottom 90 bend in Plastic? They are the only thing to stop the tank from draining if they break. I would have one gravity fed brass valve on one of them, and plug the other one. Drill new holes from the top, and use stiff pipe to the bottom.

Always concerns me having all my drinking water in one tank. If it leaks you could loose the lot. I have travelled extensively in Sahara and carry my water in jerrycans, strong, simple, unlikely to leak but if I do get a leak I only loose 20l. I particularly don,t like your tank inlet/ outlet at the bottom of the tank. Why would you want to create a potential leak in the bottom of your tank?
