Great Video and helpful information. The Spray Bottle is a good idea as it has more than one use. Spray yourself on a hot day, quick shower, and clean car windows as well as Fire fighting. Uses minimal water.

I would put in some cordage such as paracord so that if you're stranded you could tie up your space blanket or rescue sheet for some shade. I also have a bushcraft style knife with a ferro rod and sharpener in the sheath or maybe a multi tool could be useful. A torch or head torch would also be handy. Some protein type bars etc for a bit of sustenance if you're stuck for a day or two as well. I'm not sure how your sat phone is charged but a phone battery bank and a cable could come in handy. One of mine has a solar cell built into it but I suspect it will only charge it very slowly. On a different note the latest iPhones, and likely Android by now, have an app that allows you to contact emergency services via text over the satellite network as well as other contacts. Not a replacement for the items you have but maybe another layer of security.

Excellent information. A few years ago our car broke down 2 hrs out of Birdsville into the desert, we were able to make contact with a local cattle station with out UHF, they contacted the recovery in Birdsville and they sent a recovery truck. So in our outback a UHF is invaluable. I include a good survival knife

A small pocketknife and a larger knife , maybe a waterpurifier and a one liter bottle sturidy in which you could boil water, some meters of paracord. Get a first aid training course done befor the trip, a first aid kit is good, but if you dont know the basics...

Bingo !! A great subject & Share!!👍👍 I was about to say a Space blanket, but you got there. We have a wind up torch (no batteries needed) a tarp & some para cord (shade can be a huge issue out in the sticks!) I notice someone else has already mentioned a mirror (also part of a boaties kit) I never thought of a small laser torch for at night! Also so make sure there is some plastic of some kind (the bag for the Vee sheet or something else or even just a few freezer bags) they will make water if you pop them over a branch of leaves & tie them off, but I bet you already know that one. (EDIT: I just noticed someone has also mentioned that!) That kinda takes me to knowledge. As I'm an ex scouter, I would like to think I have a few skills. That includes being able to tie knots, find or make water, find food, even make a snare to catch something to eat if need be which is something we also have in our bug out bag.... Food!! while the long life dehydrated stuff doesn't taste real good, if you needed it, I bet you'd be thankful to have it. I'm fortunate enough to have done hands on bush survival as a young bloke, getting sent out with bugger all & expected to come back! Oh!! Yes, we have a pack of cards too! I laughed when I saw them come out. One of my biggest takes with all this (like packing any 4wd I guess) is thinking of multiple uses for everything. If only our wind up torch could charge a hand held UHF or a sat phone, that would be great, though buy good quality items usually means their batteries last a long time between charges (so people, don't forget to charge those items "before" you go!) I do have a few other things from my scouting days, like a decent knife but that would just get boring!! I would never have thought of the spray bottle either! 👍Cheers!!

Just as a passing comment - in the old days before sat phones etc / when they were prohibitively expensiove, I used to carry an airband VHF radio. A good friend and Qantas pilot talked me into that one. Very little of Aust is not traversed by commercial aircraft and they all monitor 121.5 MHz constantly - air distress channel. As he said, no one is going to mind a call on that channel if you are in serious trouble. In fact old epirbs transmitted on that channel. Also he said they could locate you as well.

Some people keep condoms in their first aid kit. They are a good compact vessel for water storage!

Maybe you carry a small knife at your belt, otherwise put one in the bag?
