The first two times we tried overnight RV camping in parking lots didn't go so well so we were determined to finally make it work...but sadly, the third time wasn't the charm. 😫 While we loved staying (and eating!) at Cracker Barrel, we had a huge mishap with our trailer that left us stranded in the cold.

The Cracker Barrels we've stayed at all had designated RV parking. Nice to know those in shopping areas may not. We always eat there as I feel it's a way to thank them for allowing campers to stay overnight.

Here's an idea... keep an extra key in your truck or a magnet box somewhere for now.

You should always pull your trucks nose into the last spot and turn the wheels outward to make it easy to pull out. This keeps anyone from parking in front of you and in back of you and blocking you in.

Yay! Now entering New England! So much to see here, Vermont Country Store, Cog Railway in New Hampshire, Kittery Trading Post in Maine, Cape Cod Massachusetts, Newport Rhode Island Mansions, Then Somewhere in Connecticut, lol, I'm in the SouthCoast area of Mass. with Battleship cove and a Borden Flatts Lighthome Lighthouse in Fall River, Ma. you can actually rent and stay overnight., My wife and I look forward to your vids. you remind us of ourselves when we had your energy!

Fun fact, the original Cracker Barrel was down the road about a mile from my house. They tried to move the original build to the fair ground, but it fell a part. Now, there is a new build that has a Mexican restaurant.

We just recently started staying at Cracker Barrel. On our first night, we backed our van over the curb, trying to save space (it was a Friday night). We parked in a corner near a couple other campers. We had to move around 1 AM when the sprinklers came on and started washing the bottom of the back end of the van where we were sleeping. I just pulled forward, taking up 2 spots (or so I thought, I really took up 4). When we left the next day, we spotted the RV parking spots behind the store.

@@Theendlessadventure right! And our van got a little underside wash lol . . . We’ve also learned that you can sometimes pick up Cracker Barrel’s free Wi-Fi from the parking lot. Or the wifi of a nearby hotel.

having a companion to share your locked out adventure(it happens to a nomad eventually-ex key in truck etc) is all what its about-meals and all that togetherness shared -seems like simple stuff-yet completely different alone. embrace that and be thankful for each other. forget your this is the way its supposed to be attitude and you will feel your life is special. best wishes

We frequent the local Cracker Barrel here in Connecticut often and regular, and it's not at all unusual to see one or more RVs or camper vans parked overnight in the lot. They have yummy food there, plus great merchandise in the store!! And they all look the same! Once, while vacationing in Florida, I stopped at one assuming they'd carry more summer clothes than they do up here in New England. Nope! Exactly the same merchandise as in CT. In fact, one of the employees told me that the merchandise actually comes with instructions on where it must be placed in the store so that every CB looks the same! I'm glad over-nighting there worked out for you. Thanks for another fun video!

We had our lock fail on a brand new RV when we were on the way to the beach with our 2 small (3&4 year old) grandchildren. Ours has a laundry chute in the bedroom closet just over the cargo hold. We had the 4 year old climb through it and open the door. We did replace the lock with something more substantial. It created a fun memory and all the new littles had to try it. 😂

Due to life circumstances, I ended up living in my SUV for over 4 months this summer. Staying one night at a Cracker Barrel was very comfortable for me! However, I did end up spending most nights on top of a hospital parking garage closer to my storage unit. I usually had the corner all to myself and felt very comfortable and safe. I especially loved it during thunderstorms! 😁🤗

I've never been to a Cracker Barrel! Looks way better than what I'd have thought. I grew up on the East Coast (of Canada), so this beautiful Fall scenery is making me pretty nostalgic. I currently live in Southern Spain, and seriously miss having proper four seasons. 😢

Why did you pic Cracker Barrel? You should let them know you are staying in parking lot and ‘ask if ok’. Some city laws don’t allow overnite parking,and talking to them , they will tell you ‘where’ to park , not to take up 10 Reg parking , CB’s have designated RV spots to ‘drive in’

I've been RV'ing for 40+ years and never knew you could park at Cracker Barrel. Nice!!!! Your spot was perfect for us because we travel with dogs, so an easy place to walk them. Perfect!! Safe travels!!!

We prefer Cracker Barrel. I don't know if you know this but every Cracker Barrel has a billboard on the highway near it's location regardless of the direction of travel. To help RVers out, on the billboard usually in the lower corner, look for the bus icon. This indicates it has dedicated extended parking spots for buses and RVers. Another tip for great stays is using RVParky. Safe travels.

Cracker Barrel! The first and only times I went was while I was in your childhood home state. Some great memories from my time in Missouri were had there! There is nothing like that restaurant. You almost feel like you’re living in a slightly different time period, a few decades in the past. It’s the best!!! Such a great United States experience. I’m from Canada we definitely don’t have any here! Also, I love that your first memory of staying at a Cracker Barrel includes locking yourselves out! Honestly the best! 🔐😂♥️

Love Cracker Barrel! I used to work in the music industry and went on bus tours with bands across the country. Memories of Cracker Barrel stops in Tennessee and in Pennsylvania. I love their fried okra! They now have some here in California!

@@Theendlessadventure The two that I know of are in Camarillo (about an hour north of LA) and Santa Maria (an hour north of Santa Barbara). Both are stand alones but share a parking lot with outdoor shopping centers.

Love your videos. Welcome to Vermont. Looks like you came up RT 9 Bennington VT area. There are a ton of Boondocking areas in VT. Green Mnt Forest. Have fun while you are here. Burlington way up North has a ton of restaurants. Brattleboro has a lot as well.

really cool video and I love your camper! If someone has not already said this, the keyless entry is super easy to install took me about 20 minutes tops. I love it now I don’t know how I went without it for these years.

Oh yes, I've been locked out before too. Nothing like a locksmith to brighten the day so you can warm the toes once inside. Cracker Barrel has good food and it's so nice of them to allow overnight parking. Can you order another lock for the door to replace the other one? You two are great at posing in costumes. Such great body language and expressions. Perhaps you should be in acting?

I locked our keys in our camper, luckily (?) The keys that go to your outdoor storage areas are universal. I borrowed a key from a neighboring camper and called underneath our queen size bed slash storage area, was able to unlock the door. It was not a fun moment it was very awkward but we didn't have to call a locksmith LOL

When you swing through Connecticut, I suggest checking out the Mark Twain and Harriet Beacher Stowe houses in Hartford. Plus we have a Cracker Barrel right up the road!

So funny to see you driving around "my" Cracker Barrel (the one my parents always take me to when they pick me up from the Airport) Ha! Edit: I finished watching the video, and so happy to see you head into Vermont! My favorite spot to visit in Vermont is the King Arthur Flour Baking Center in Norwich, right on the border with New Hampshire. Can eat delicious lunch and fresh baked treats, shop in the store, and take baking classes too.

If it makes you feel better, we are getting work done on our sailboat, so we are renting a bedroom in Colamia, Mexico. I did not realize that if you leave your room, you should NOT press the lock button on the inside of the bedroom (or bathroom), because even a key to the room (or bathroom) will NOT unlock the door! They had to get a knife and break in!

The real beauty of staying overnight at a Cracker Barrel is that local law enforcement expects to see RVs parked there. A commonly accepted practice using Cracker Barrels is to try and time your arrival at about closing time (9PM Sunday-Thursday, 10PM Fridays and Saturdays) and do your best to be on your way around opening time at 7AM. The objective is to enjoy their hospitality for a good night’s rest, not move in and set up camp. And yes, be aware there are sprinklers that can come on at around 3AM and park accordingly.

Cool video. Buy a couple of lanyards to hold keys around neck. Never have to worry. Mangione locksmith was not to far from you. That was my Cracker Barrel neighborhood store. Always great food and service there. Safe travels 🙏

Oh man! So glad you guys had a phone on you so you could at least call someone right away. And yes, we all make mistakes and I'm glad you show them because literally zero people on this planet have ever had everything go perfectly every single time. No judgement here eating at a Cracker Barrel - there's actually one in my CA town, too, but I've only ever been once as a kid. That fried chicken changed my mind. Was it better than Jollibee?

Three cheers for Cracker Barrel! If they're letting you park up I think it's fair that you have dinner in their store. I do the same at country pubs in the UK. Over here, Cracker Barrel is actually a name of a brand of cheese. I think its owners, Kraft, have had a few run-ins with your country store chain over the use of the name on certain products. Speaking of country ways, I think you two should go back to the old "homestead lock" of a heavy plank barring the door. The Black Series lock looks a bit too sophisticated for you. Good film.

Kraft Cracker Barrel cheese is common for a long time in USA grocery stores at least on the east coast. Guess they worked out the name issue a long time ago. Cracker Barrel restaurants are everywhere and usually right next to highways and shopping malls.

Southern Missouri Branson, Missouri on the 76 strips hwy red road has 1 Crackers Barrel Restaurant and Roger , northwest Arkansas as 1 Crackers Barrel Restaurant and Branson, Crackers Barrel Restaurant is kinda small parking lot no room to put in a trailer and big bus and Regular Motorhome since it so small to turn around in . But I guess IHOP restaurant across the street from the Crackers Barrel Restaurant on 76 strips roadway IHOP restaurant will allowed Trailer and Big motorhomes and buss and IHOP restaurant used to be open 24 hours but Illegal China dictator Wuhan Bio-Weapons Grade Lab scientist W.H.O. 's Virus putting a stop to all the Walmart Supercenter stores and restaurants out of business and installed only 14 to 16 hours opening up and closing down from 7 am to 9 pm to 11 pm only . I really really missed 24 hours open up Walmart Supercenter stores and restaurants IHOP restaurant and Denny's restaurant and Dunkin donuts and Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee Shop and Western Steakhouse used to be open 24 hours in Missouri and Texas and Oklahoma and Kansas and Arkansas and I never wanted to go to California and Oregon and Washington State and Arizona and Colorado and Chicago Illinois and New York and New Jersey since Demoncrats Party Mayors and Governor and Sentors of their own STATES and City are still unsafe and too many criminals Organization Group normalizing stealing and looting and killing innocent people and kids in those States owned by Demoncrats Party Mayors and Governor and Sentors of their own STATES and City with defunded Police department and defunded Jailers and jails are shutdown without any criminals behind jails and still running around stealing and killing again and again and Those STATES are unlivable for regular REAL American people since Oregon and Washington State and Arizona and Colorado and Chicago and New York and New Jersey people are leaving Demoncrats Party's Controlled STATES to moved to Texas and Florida and Arkansas and Missouri and Oklahoma and Kansas and Tennessee and Kentucky . My classmates in Oregon and my mom's co- workers for the Insurance company in Oregon and Washington State and California used to have our friends in those States in Oregon and Washington State killed off my classmates and my friends and co-workers by Demoncrats Party's AntiAmerica AntiGOD Marxist Anti-capitalist racist bigotry White Supremacists Antifascist Rioters looters and Killers millionaire and AntiAmerica AntiGOD Marxist Anti-capitalist Demoncrats Party's white supremacists Terrorists Organization Group Black Lives Matter rioters looters and Killers millionaire and billionaires killed off my friend and classmates and co-workers in Oregon and Washington State and California and some of my friends in New York City in summer and fall 2020 and Spring and summer of 2021 and I still haven't heard from anybody else my classmates and my mom co-workers and family members in Washington State and Oregon yet this year 2022 . I don't have any money to travel to Oregon and Washington State to help out my family and friends since it takes too much money to fill up the truck and my Small utility trailer are still not safe to pull and no locks can keep it safe from rioters looters across America STATES .

On the very first trip I took in my motorhome, the wind blew my door shut and I was officially locked out. That taught me VERY quickly to hide a spare key on the underbelly. After I traded my motorhome for a travel trailer, I thought I was safe from that lock-out concern, because It has a keypad lock. Nope. I, once again, got locked out, cuz the lock got stuck and the pin code wouldn’t work. Like you, I had my phone with me, so I googled the brand of the lock, called customer service and learned that “stuck” means the door isn’t fully closed somehow (how does that even happen?) and by pushing on the door and simultaneously tapping in my pin code, the keypad would magically work again. Thank Goodness!! I quickly got back on the road, but MAN! Getting locked out is super stress inducing, right?

On the plus side you didn't have anyone banging on the door early morning, the minus side was you were locked out early in the morning. I think this is a good lesson for not putting off repair jobs that need attention 😁

Make an extra key and hide it somewhere on the outside of your camper or truck. Magnet key boxes work really well.

We stay at Cracker Barrels all the time. Most have RV spaces but if not that is how we park. Like all the past memories. Chicken and dumplings is my favorite.

I always remember the mason jars full of jawbreakers from Cracker Barrel. I also love their pecan pancakes. Guess I need to find one now. 😂

We have Cracker Barrels here in Michigan too. We stop mostly when traveling. I've had their fried chicken too. It is very tasty, but there is so much of it I end up taking a lot home.
