Excellent demonstration of what it takes to survive a night in the snow. Especially valuable was showing your several attempts to make a fire, and how you analyzed each failure and adapted your tactics to finally overcome them. That's huge. Morale, a positive attitude, determination, and laser focusing on your next goal is so important to survival. Thank you for posting this and for your detailed explanations.

That grass must have been moist. It takes off much slower. Normally with that much smoke there is an ember for sure. The moisture must have wicked it away till the heat dried it. I live in the NE US. Used to moisture with friction fire. I'm dying to see your hunting skills!

Good job man I like the video. Here's my take though: You look like you are out there a ways into the wilderness. With that being said, lets assume your plane crashed and you managed to survive. Hopefully the survivor can manage to pull off the friction fire because why would you have thought not to bring a magnesium stick LOL

I ve learnt from german survival teacher Joe Vogel to prepare a small tinder/sticks firetipi giving a easier firestarting setting the ignited tinder in the tipi. Great you didnt give up. If i ever get to oregon or calif. i have to book a beginners course at your school. cheers from switzerland.

Would love to see you put together an extended stay cold weather bag. Not primitive or minimalistic. Pack for the month. What's in it and how it would be used. 30 days or more. It's interesting and gives a huge amount of info on long term survival. 25lbs not including your bag. This community is flooded with videos of people with minimal skills and fantasy shit.
