Had the pleasure of accompanying my son, Ryan when he picked up his new Peterbilt. Enjoyed the interaction with Steve. Steve is extremely knowledgeable with all facets relating to trucking, transportation, and racing. It made the trip to Tulsa more enjoyable than a vacation to Disney World. We also met the associates in the install shop, parts department, administrators, and other salesmen. Everyone was so nice. Thanks again for the great coffee, my new Peterbilt hat, floor mats and the shop tour. The trip home was my first time in an “18 wheeler” and brought back memories of flying B-52s and FB-111s. I have a new appreciation of the professionals in this industry.

Awesome video!! I have a question about the split tank. I run dump trailers so it's a potential thing for me but I have never had one. What is the consensus on no support strap where the tank is welded? I would feel like that is a weak spot for weld failure in the future causing a mixture of fluids and/or leakage outside? Thank You

If Peterbilt does what Kenworth has done with the W990 and use this cab and sleeper and add a long hood like the 389, that would look sweet! Of course if they were to do that, the 389 guys would probably throw a fit like the W900 guys did about the W990. I've heard that it's in the works so I'm not sure if it'll happen.

@deegodarkwulf12284 жыл бұрын
Looks aren't everything in trucking for some people. The wide-cab configuration that Paccar offers is superior in some ways to the traditional narrow cab on the 389. Also, the interior of the 389 hasn't been updated since 2005, while the wide cab in the Platinum trim has a much more premium feel (and the Heritage even more). Then there's the wheelbase of the 389 impacting the types of trailers you can pull in certain regions (Canada and California specifically), where the shorter hood on the 567 gives you better visibility without impacting tractor length as much. You can also order a 567 in a SBFA configuration, which allows for better weight distribution for bulk or heavy haul applications. I've been seeing more and more 567's on the road these days (more than 389's in a lot of heavy haul applications as well), and while the 389 remains the Peterbilt flagship, the 567 is becoming significantly more popular than when it first came out.

Anything more than 450/1650 is pretty much a waste for anyone looking to run 80k gross or less in the US. 500/1850+ is just a hot rod that'll run heavy weights up steep grades and not drop gears. Personally, if I were looking to make the most amount of money out of a truck at 80k gross, I would run 450/1650 with a 3.73 rear end and 18-speed transmission. Cruise at 65 to save on tires and avoid wind resistance killing fuel economy.
@SteveCarbone4 жыл бұрын
I have not sold a 3:73 in any HP for many years because it kills fuel economy. Most of the little engine trucks I have done have been 3.25-3.08 ratios
@deegodarkwulf12284 жыл бұрын
@@SteveCarbone it'll only kill fuel economy if you drive faster than 65mph. On the Canadian side of the border, most trucks are 3.70/3.90 due to heavier gross weights (100k for tridem, 140k for Super-B) and lower speed limits. Most of the prairies is 68 max, Ontario is 65 max. A small part of British Columbia is the only place you'll see a 75 mph speed limit (120 kph). And really, unless you're looking to spend a lot more on tires, there's no need to run much faster than 70 mph.
@fredbezemer394 Жыл бұрын
You are still in the 80's and 90's with today's engines you can run @ 1050 rpm all day long my is a Canadian truck with a 12 speed Eaton endurance with 2:79 ratio no problem to get over 8 mpg U.S. gal. and that running Toronto- L.A. every week
