There was homeless people camping at my apartment complex in Spokane. It took the manager fighting with the cops, city council and courts 6 months to get them off the property. As soon as they were gone all the crime seemed to stop.

The police told me that if you allow one to stay more are going to show up and stay and it'll be very difficult to get them to leave. There was a guy who lives in an rv that parked in the parking lot of my store, I knocked on his door and he said that he refuses to pay rent or a mortgage. I called the police and trespassed him.

I would love to see the old Canton Grill run as a 24 hour restaurant... if cars were parked there then the tents would not be there.

I think that this shows that you must take a hard line when it comes to the homeless situation. It seems heartless, but the only way to reduce homelessness is to be harsh with it. Sad but true.

It makes no sense and is completely nauseating concerning the amount of tolerance,that goes on with Homeless in Metro Portland and Oregon. Really I would love to sit down with those that support all this catering to Homeless, and discuss all the problems that come with it. I'm really curious why so many are OK with Homelessness, and tents and camps all over the damn area. It's disgusting and I can't for the life of me understand why hard working people, are expected to tolerate this abuse to them. I'm sorry Portland but I think its disgusting that this issue is allowed to continue. I just came back form a trip to the Northeast, and yes I saw homeless. What I did not see is the massive amounts of homeless, nor did I see the control the homeless have over the cities and population centers. The homelessness is Portland is clearly tolerated and is an accepted lifestyle, that is why the issue never seems to become a lesser problem.

Portland and many other cities need to relocate these encampment out of the city limits. Get fed land and move them there, let the feds take care of them. Hey, they have the boarders wide open, might as well do the same for those less fortunate. Maybe they will deal with the mental illness. An idol body and mind is not ones friend! Put them to work even if just menial tasks picking up garbage, sweeping streets with a broom. Oh, doesn't work, was tried in Albany NY in the 60's and the politicians took so much heat they stopped the program.
