Would love if you could demo it in it's roof top tent mode (per their website), as contemplating it for the dual purpose of RTT and ground tent👌

We don't have any plans to demo this at the moment sorry, swagging sisters. All you really need to achieve this though is a flat roof rack large enough to support and secure the tent, and one that offers a comfortable sleeping surface if a mattress was laid on top of it. We'll put a video together if we can but I can't make any promises right now sorry. ~ Ben

I have an RV1 and the problem I can see with making this into a rooftop tent is the pack up, there is not enough head height to stand fully upright inside the RV1 like the other RV,s and unless you are on your knees at the edge of the car roof you would need to reach inside the tent and release the 2 side folding bars while holding the centre top tag standing on a ladder ! If you want to just drop the tent flat leaving its footprint corners secured to a base you would need to make a pretty good cover and tent tie down straps to protect it during transport . In Snowys pics of the RV1 you can see it mounted on a trailer and a roof so it works but I am just pointing out a few possible problems I can see given I use my RV1 quite a bit. The RV1 is a great tent and I prefer it to My RV3, its best to see an RV1 set up but most places don't display the RV1 without prior appointment, I took a punt and bought one without seeing it set up and was surprised with its size and usability..

Trying to buy an RV-1 but can’t find them in stock anywhere, are they still making them or have they been discontinued?

Ive been wanting to get this RV1 for years but still haven’t bought it due to its weight and packing size. Not sure if it can be transported in a sedan car or not.

It'll be tough in a sedan, Grace, unless you have roof racks. You could possible slide it through from the boot to the back seat if the seats are folded down and your sedan is long enough, but this isn't the most convenient way of packing it given you'll likely have a heap of other gear also. ~ Ben

I just found about these tents today. Can you fit a double blowup bed in here?

You could probably squeeze it in, PsYc87, but I don't think it would be overly functional. It would push against the sloped back wall, and there wouldn't be much sleeping space for the person at the rear of the tent. You'd be better off getting a larger version like the RV3 or RV4 I reckon. ~ Ben

How hot does it become with no insulation?

It will become hot, Robert, you are best maximising ventilation if you are in direct hot sunlight to keep the tent as cool as possible. ~ Ben

They are different widths, the zips will work but they the tent will be narrower than the awning. ~ Ben
