this glen must get some wealthy customers that understand plumbing... if we quoted a job and included all these fancy expensive clip systems, low loss headers etc we'd never get any quotes accepted.

Just a heads up NEVER use PVA for tiling as soon as moisture gets on it it will just peel always use acrylic primer like BAL APD 👍🏻

I have a 14 year's old Viessmann 200WB2B I just love the quality of build & how reliable the unit is ❤👍 when I move i just replace the old boiler in the new home with a Viessmann 200W Weather Compensation Boiler ❤ & put in Stelrad K3 oversized radiators ❤ then just run the flow temperature at 40°C use 28mm pipe to make sure flow is good 👍 I'm not a plumber by trade but an Aerospace Defence Hardware Test Qualification Verification engineer, but I know quality work when I see it 👍

@ 16:00I use Brake cleaner to remove silicone - but i have to keep the silicone wet with brake cleaner for a few minutes and it starts to soften it - I've used it successfully in the past to remove shower stall frames from tiles.... I still use brake cleaner when I drill holes with diamond cores and I don't want to stain the walls - if I used water the resulting mud would leave stains, but if I use brake cleaner I only leave traces of dust that can be brushed away... I also use brake cleaner to clean my accidental fingerprints from people's walls: I soak the napkins well with it and then I hold it pressed against the wall and all the grease from my fingerprints is absorbed in the napkins :) mai folosesc brake cleaner sa scap de stupii de viespii cand sm de lucrat in tablouri electrice de exemplu...

Hi Paul -- love your videos -- i mostly do services + breakdowns now -- i watched your video last night when you flooded the Baxi combi via the expansion vessls blocked flexible connection tube -- it's a minefield working on boilers , i've flooded a few myself -- best tool in the van is the hair dryer !!! -- when drying the PCB its always better to disconnect the connecting wire jack plugs to + dry them -- all you need is a drop of water to take the board out ! -- take care

If you are just cleaning up a few tiles, a little tip is to buy a really course flappy wheel disc ( like a sanding pad ) fits on your grinder. It cleans all the adhesive straight off.

I'm with you on remedying tilling jobs like that, very time consuming and the customer can't see why the labour content is what it is. If powder adhesive was used in the first place, the tiles would have stayed put. Important point, always leave grouting days rather than hours to allow proper curing of the adhesive. Interesting that OSO fit expansion vessels on their sides so must be a satisfactory method. Some manafacturers and many installers only consider air over water as exceptable, so I've always taken the view that either orientation is OK. I'm shaw to see many comments on the subject!

You don't need to tighten the joint with 577. That's the beauty of it!

Had them OSO cylinders on student accommodation, loads of them leaking where the expansion valve connects onto the brass block on the top of the cylinder, takes a while before the leak shows as the lagging soaks it up 😕

Never PVA around bath if PVA gets wet tiles will fall off just use a primer or mix up tile adhesive use on its own Regards

This sort of job is what I'd call a "stop gap job".....job done !

The reason the tiles have probably came off in the first place is PVA was used. Should always use Primer. PVA just peels off like wood glue

Tiles compromised... strip it out. Quick fix vs cure?? Tricky with rentals. Depends on how well the landlord wants tp look after their assets. Thanks for the awesome content!

if you don't like doing those sort of jobs then don't do them. you don't need the work. if a mate asks you then tell them you don't do that stuff any more, but as they're a mate you'll do it for them for free. if they really are a friend then they'll get the message and say no thanks, if they still want it done then you've earned yourself a big favour in return.

Used that BT-1 on my own bathroom this summer and it’s absolute shite! Dry the tray after use and still gets mould! Don’t use it. CT-1 is a brilliant product just not their new silicone.

Surprised u don't sub out the tiling job to a handyman and take a cut. Surely it's more economic to focus on boilers more technical jobs? Also most landlords who want a cheap job won't appreciate yr work with keeping existing tiles I'd just have bought some new white tiles n replaced bottom row??
