Wow just wow, I’m tearing up. I’ve been watching you since the AT & always felt a bond or connection I couldn’t quite put my finger on. I am five & a half years sober! When I got sober I had so many plans, but got laid up due to a collapsed hip & total hip replacement from the alcoholism…while in dual recovery I found KZfaq backpacking such as Liz Kidder, IBTAT, and you( not knowing your story just had a feeling). It rekindled my love for backpacking that I lost or was stolen from me due to the alcoholism and gave me motivation to get outdoors! I’ve nerded out on gear, got loaded out and never looked back. Backpacking fills so many voids mentally and physically. Gratitude is number one and your attitude of gratitude is what I strive to live by. Thank You so much for all the videos…I am grateful for you and your story. 🙏🤙

Whom the Son sets free is Free indeed!!! Hallelujah! He does the work! Submit ourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee! James 4:7. The first part of that verse is key, we can do nothing, Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe! Girl, thank you for being obedient to share your story, it does take courage to be vulnerable to others. May the Lord bless you. As always your cinematography is out of this world! I hope one day to meet you and Jonathon.

Gazelle, all my adult life I struggled with my weight - have to eat- temptation was always there , through much prayer on my knees and daily surrendering my body , my life , my all - at 56 I lost 90 lbs and I have kept it all off with a normal fluctuation of 10 lbs depending on what is going on. I asked Jesus and the Holy Spirit to help me eat to live not live to eat and take away the desire to eat mindlessly, and to do all thing in moderation. I surrendered my whole being to him daily and hourly and He delivered me !! Hallelujah. If I could I show you a picture. Keep pressing in to Jesus, He is the answer. From 24- 56 I weighed anywhere from 200 to 250. I’m only 5.4. I wanted to live and not die. He rescued me.

Everyone struggles. The best thing I could ever teach my children is the verse that says “the devil roams the earth like a roaring lion seeking who he can devour”. And he devours people in very similar ways: greed, addictions, self righteousness, pride, and idolatry.

You are a miracle. Isn’t it wonderful to see how He can help us do what we can’t do on our own. It’s so empowering to own our powerlessness and let Him carry us up and out of our wretchedness that we all at one time or another fall into. The earth heals itself. Our bodies can heal itself in many ways when we make healthy choices. It’s all how He designed us. He loved us so much that He sent His only son to redeem us. Where would we be without that tremendously loving Heavenly Father? You feel that love even more when we get to be in nature. The stretch you are in tends to be warm so be glad you did it early in the year. The stretch after Lassen can be brutal. No shade. Completely exposed and few water sources. At least this stretch you did in this section has creeks here and there. Thanks for sharing your struggles. There are many people out there who need to know others made it out of the dark hole they were in. So can they.

We were curious about doing the trail AF (we’ve wanted to hike the PCT since way before we became sober) and also curious as to why you never drank on the trail, wondering what your story might be. And despite all the fire closures, we were able to complete the entire hike. Thank you, Lord! The areas opened up each time we came to the point where it was closed. This fall we plan on hiking the state of Washington. Any recommendations or advice for us in Washington? Ellen
