FILM DESCRIPTION:
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro teams up with Legendary Pictures to bring audiences a unique take on the monster film with this sci-fi production. Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) stars as a washed-out controller and pilot of a series of robots called Jaegers, which are put into production after Earth is invaded by a species of giant monsters, the Kaijus. The Brothers Bloom's Rinko Kikuchi co-stars as a trainee whom Hunnam is psychically paired with in order to pilot the last beacon of hope -- a decommissioned Jaeger assigned to stop the Kaijus once and for all. Thor's Idris Elba leads the rest of the starring cast, which includes Charlie Day, Rob Kazinsky and Ron Perlman.

It was such a missed opportunity to have a scene in the sequel where Mako gets into a Jaeger, starts to chase the RABIT, and then re-lives a meaningful conversation or encounter with Stacker that helps her turn it around. So many good set-ups, and the sequel didn't pay off a single one of them.

I love how Herc reacts to finding out his son is going to blow himself up. He doesn't try to stop him or anything. Both of them are tough as nails warriors, and I think he had all the respect for his sons heroic sacrifice.

I feel Herc was lucky, I was originally going to be Herc and Chuck who detonate the bomb, because Herc got injured in the fight against Leatherback and Otachi, that's why Stacker went into the Jaeger, so Chuck's death was always going to be there

Striker Eureka was no joke. Slatter was the biggest, meanest Kaiju ever seen and Striker still man handled it to the point Slatter had to call for back up to do anything against it. And that was underwater, where kaiju have an edge against Jaegers. Just shows that had Leatherback not EMP'd Striker, he also could have solo'd them both like Gypsy did

Probably even faster, honestly. It’s kinda confusing that, considering leatherback was designed to defeat Striker and succeeded, the precursors didn’t just give one of the final three an EMP weapon.

I love striker but the point of Gypsy soloing those two was that Beckett was more experienced and did what striker could in a Jaeger two generations older than it showing that Gypsy’s pilots were stronger pilots

The leatherback only had the EMP because of the scientist that merged with the kaiju, then the kaiju knew exactly what kind of monsters to create to destroy the jeagers, Otachi was created to kill Crimson Typhoon, and the leather back was created to kill Cherno Alpha and Striker Eureka, they underestimated Gypsy, gypsy did the best because he saw what powers the monster had, he ripped leather backs EMP organ out as well as Otachi’s acid sprayer

Having the Category 5 Kaiju survive a nuclear detonation at that close of a range was quite unrealistic, at that close range, no living cell would be able to survive let alone a Kaiju the size of a skyscraper

I have high hopes for the fact that Netflix is doing an anime for the series, I think it's gonna have at least 2 seasons but I could be wrong. From what I read it's about siblings who are trying to find their parents in the aftermath of all that's happened, using a jaeger to find their way in the world.

What makes it worse that it changes up the whole dynamic the two shared. There´s a clear implication that Mako was the only child he looked after and raised after the rescue. The fact that he had a son off screen makes his respect now be called into question and that apparently he was too focused on one child over the other. Its bullshit and ruins a simple character.

According to Guillermo del Toro, the design team wanted Gipsy Danger to "feel like a classic, old gunslinger" (John Wayne) and designed its anatomy after that of a cowboy. del Toro also referenced tanker ships and art deco as an influence in Gipsy Danger's design. In particular, there were large flat areas with a lot of plating, with spots in between showing the intricacies of its inner workings. -Pacific Rim Wiki Wrong, Gipsy danger isn't a girl because 1. It's a machine. 2. Even if it does have a gender, read the statement above.

There's a fanfic series out there called "Generation K" where they delve into that phrase. The fanfic isn't perfectly canon (Chuck, the Russian pilots, and 2 of the 3 Wei Siblings survive), but it's good.

Even after this heroic sacrifice, the sense of danger and the fear that Gypsy still might not make it still lingers, and even grows stronger when you realize they sort of have a burden from Striker. Truly a great film.

1:07 Did any one else noticed this detail? I did now: Gypsy has his leg damaged so it's limping, and the pilots are also limping, and the camera focus right there for us to see! One great thing about this movie is how it cares about details! To give us a sence of realism! From the heavy hits and angles, to this little one. That's one more thing that Uprising has failed with: Looked like the pilots were in a electric treadmill stead of piloting a colossal robot!

Well, this movie is quite rip off Neon Genesis Evangelion. Jaeger = Evangelion ( same concept of psychological control system ) Kaiju = Angel ( same concept of extra terrestrial being taking over the world even in human or monster form [possessed Newt]) Just watch them and you finally realizes there's a lot of similarities by polar opposite.

SAV1TAR Hansen(his dad) is both proud(for his selfless sacrifise) and sad(getting killed) of what happened to his son on one hand he was unable to reconcile there relationship as father and son(his son blames him for the death of his mom) 2nd no matter how his son hated him he was always there ready to assist him and to act as a father. After the death of Stacker P he replaced him after being promoted to Marshall of PPDC.

I always saw how solid and deadly a fighter like Stack was. He comes across the biggest & strongest Kaiju known and he and herc's son carve it up like its just a walk in the park. Had this been on land, the fight would have been more one sided. Striker would have not even needed help.

A teared up when I saw Striker Eureka Striker fight itself Gipsy Danger it's like so freaking sad to see that like they risk their own life for another Jager that's very very uncommon friends for a person to do and that's very cheering up so I cry doing this yeah that's very heroic Striker Eureka that's why it's one of my favorites

This scene basically confirms that they could've been more efficient in fighting the kaiju simply by surrounding the breach with massive proximity mines. They had tried to bomb the breach before... but then why would their next idea not be to try bombing them when they come out?

I like how the Kaijus are simply there to go on a rampage. I think they changed it on the second movie to go to some volcano. The concept is very simple in the first movie but the added detail kinda complicates it in the second movie

The point difference in both the movies was that Pacific Rim was a Pacific Rim movie with a weightage in direction by proficient director like Mr. Guillermo Del Toro, character development, great cinematography, to the point human emotions, a great script, the feel of risks taken with a cost of sacrifice, heaviness in the monster and robot movements and everything else. The sequel was just garbage D-grade movie with bad acting/ overacting from every actor especially Jon Boyega and Cailee Spaeny trying to please a chinese CGI crowd. Pathetic loss for a potential franchise.
