I lived across the street from a marina. Our black lab, Fred, would jump the fence to go swimming at the marina. He then befriended a retired couple on a sailboat and they would come get him to take him sailing. That dog found us some life long friends. Everyone at the marina loved Fred and would come get him. I never had trouble finding a dog sitter when we went on vacation.

@@dwoodstwin Psychopathy is a personality disorder and a very dangerous one, so that doesn't change my previous statement. Throwing in race is so funny and overused. I suppose you're assuming I'm white? I don't live in America, nor Canada. English isn't even my main language. A lot of first world countries have high respect for dogs, as it should be. Humans have to earn respect. It is part of our social structure. To show such little regard towards a loyal creature is a major red flag.

Let me emphasize!!! He shot multiple times as this sweet dog was already maimed and fleeing. Then he held the family hostage! Several neighbors witnessed. All seem to be in full support of Dixie's family. The poor dog died at the scene.. The family was never allowed to help the dog. They have to live with this trauma. They were outraged! I am outraged! I can tell you, as a victim of domestic violence, in several relationships (until I realized that I was attracting the domestic abusers, and stopped allowing them in my life), an abuse victim will NOT have an affair for fear of being attacked by their abuser, and killed. So, she and her divorce attorney are throwing that into the mix to influence the judge's decision in her favor, but it is a false allegation. Her attorney is an ambulance chaser type, IMHO. Not above using lies to win the divorce for her with everything she's asking for. Now that she's being tried for conspiracy to commit murder, that's going to go in the husband's favor, not hers. She screwed her case.

We have a farmer, who lives a few miles from us, in Ohio. We used to buy feed for our goats and chickens, and milk replacer for a calf we had, who lost his mother. Since we live in the country, many dogs are just dropped off, when the owner doesn't want to, or can't keep it. We were talking about a recent dog, that showed up, the day my husband was going out of town, so we put it in a fenced area, with our chocolate lab, and planned to call animal control the next day. During the night it got out and maimed one goat so badly, I couldn't wait until morning to call the vet to put it down. It also bit three of our other goats. Anyway, when I told the farmer what happened, he told us about his practice, when a stray came to his house. He said he practices the three SSS's. "Shoot, Shovel, and Shut up!". I was appalled! Several years later,that farmer was arrested for molesting several young boys who worked on his farm! I agree that, when someone kills animals, they likely will go to other crimes, involving humans!

And if we can't be human, why the hell are we still alive Also, it's not just about the poor dog. It's about how serial killers start killing people by killing animals first. That is because you are misguided. It is wrong to kill people; a grievous, mortal sin. Killing animals is not on the same level as killing humans. Witness the slaughter of the American buffalo during the 1st part of America’s history or the slaughter of wild game in Africa so that Americans and Europeans could display the carcasses on their walls. No one protested that such slaughter was wrong or barbaric. Dogs are not part of anyone’s family. They are a different species. Dogs are pets like goldfish or cats or Guinea pigs.

Sole custody shouldn’t even be an option anymore, unless there is proven abuse, bc obviously the majority of parents can’t put their children ahead of their emotions & need to hurt each other. RIP Sweet Bear ❤
@ellaella5537
@ellaella5537 Жыл бұрын
It shouldn’t. In Canada, at least in Quebec, it’s very rare that a judge will award sole custody. They usually award 50-50 custody because they know that kids need both parents, unless one parent isn’t fit or because they live too far appart and it would be a problem for school or if a parent is away from the home for work too much.

Love this episode! I hope Rachel will come back. She is excellent. As for the cas with Bear, you ask who does a crime like this. I can tell you that it would be someone like my ex. He’s very intelligent. He worked for NASA at 19 and later on the NSA sought him out for his “moral flexibility”. He was charming and had me fooled for awhile. Oh, and he loved guns. We moved out to the country and the neighbors had several dogs that would get out and chase cars in the street just past our driveway. One day I came home from work to find a note that he had shot the neighbor’s dog because it came after him in the shop. He threw a tarp over it. I went out and saw the tarp but didn’t look under it until the sheriff deputies showed up (he was conveniently in the next county over at band practice). Of course they wanted to see the dog. It was essentially hog tied with rope and dragged over there. Beautiful Dalmatian. After they left, the neighbors came over and yelled at ME! I told them to take it up with my husband. I only knew what he told me. There’s a reason I’m not married to him anymore. Do I suspect he has the makings of a serial killer? Absolutely! I hope I never see or hear from him or about him ever again.

The people who torture and kill animals are the same people that abuse their children, their spouses, and often escalates to murder. There has been a cat serial killer on the loose in Jacksonville Florida, and at horrifies me. Someone witnessed someone punching into a bag and these were peoples beloved pets. We have to do much better, and these crimes need to be Felonise.

Thank you Ana and Rachel for another informative and insightful podcast episode. I am familiar with the case where the wife was conspiring with her lover and his friend in the Bahamas to have her husband killed. I will never comprehend why people don’t just get divorced instead of turning to more sinister resolutions. The other case is beyond heartbreaking and gut-wrenching. Our fur babies are beloved family members; the monster that committed such heinous and abhorrent acts on the neighbor’s dog is so reprehensible. I really think the laws for harming animals need to be harsher because they are often a precursor to even more vile acts. Besides, in addition to children and the elderly, animals are innocent and cannot protect themselves… they rely on us for care and protection. Those that harm animals need to face harsher sentences and consequences imo.

✨Aawww Ana, thank you for covering Bear's case🩷 I am so absolutely heartbroken, but I feel positive chances in Michigan laws (and hopefully nationwide) are coming... My praises to Michigan law enforcement and the judge, for recognizing the serious nature of this crime, and for addressing the fact that the punishment does not fit the crime. If we do create a new law to protect our animals right's, I hope we will name it "Bear's Law" in his honor⚖️🐕 And I just wanted to add that Rachel was a phenomenal guest!💗 She brought sooo much insightful information to the table, and I found her fascinating☺️ Hugs to you and a smooch to your new pooch, Maegan🌈

60 days for a felony... wow. Theres a lot of things that need changed in the judicial system. A man can close fist punch a woman and its a misdemeanor (in IL) domestic violence isn't taken too seriously so not TOO surprised animals arent either.

For a neighbour to slaughter and cut up the body of a defenceless dog is absolutely horrific. In the US, it happens to 10 billion animals inside slaughterhouses every year while a further 47 billion aquatic animals are forced to suffocate to death before they too are dismembered. It shouldn't happen to ANY animal.

Michigan is horrible about animal cruelty. Like 3 years ago my friends psycho neighbor who had cops called on him all the time broke onto my friends front porch and tortured her cat and it's 4 kittens to death and mutilated their bodies like literally ripped limbs off and horrific things. Cops came and said they can't do anything about it. Wtf! A man at a trailer park was setting cats on fire in front of screaming and crying children. He got a fine. A fucking fine for causing lifelong trauma to children and murdering animals. An ex sheriff (Jacob Wilkinson) murdered his own k9 dog after it "nipped at him" he duct taped it's legs together and duct taped it's mouth shut and shot it 3 times and hid the body. We all know animal torture more than not turns into human torture eventually so wtf are we doing giving these sickos slaps on the wrist so next time their victim can be a person?! Thank you so much for talking about this I love animals and it makes me so sick to know humans do these things.

One of my neighbors planned and killed all our neighbor's cats by leaving poisoned food on his roof. He killed my cat. He killed the kitty of a windowed lady and her granddaughter that were neighbors next door. The kitty was the only friend they had to bring happiness to their lives after the death of her husband of all life. My neighbor was angry because the cats urinated in his backyard. We called the police and they interviewed him, but nothing was done. He is living in the same place. This story is from another country. I feel here in USA there is more protection for animals. This is extremely sad.
