He really has!!! And Emil, thanks for appreciating and encouraging other painters! There's no reason to be competitive, there's plenty of love to go around for all the great fig painters. Vince V., Sergio Calvo, Kujo Painting, and SQUIDMAR are my absolute faves, and I've improved & learned so much from you guys. And "Ninjon" is becoming a favorite, as well. I love it when you guys encourage each other and show some ❤️ to other painters!😁 And PS: I'm following your friend who did the dragon wings on Insta now. He's not making tutorials, but his work is so beautiful. I love the idea of a "community" among the great painters, that shares techniques & triumphs. You guys are just so inspiring!!💥💥💥💥💥

I did a WW1 diorama for my dad last year (he collects stamps and is specialised in ww1) The big strong dude went very emotional and now displays it on his desk and brags about it to all his buddies. Something you created is the most personal gift you could come up with. It's a great idea & I'm sure your ma is gonna love the bust you painted for her!

I've been trying to think of something to paint for my mum for a while. But what I've realised is that she actually prefers the dioramas I do over just painted models. Even if it's zombie stuff or whatever, she loves that. I want to make a replica of her house, but I've been putting it off for ages.

I painted something for my mom last year, too. Her absolute favorite cat died last fall. He had a very particular way of sitting, which I couldn't find a model for, so I made my own in blender (worked surprisingly well for my first real foray into 3D sculpting), printed it and made a little glass-domed (pretty much same exact dome you used here) diorama of him sitting on a cliff, next to a waterfall, looking out at some cotton clouds lit from below with some LEDs. Turned out pretty well, and she absolutely loved it. That paintjob of yours here is nuts btw. I'm itching to try some of these ideas myself, but I'll wait till my own Squidmar H&S gets here.

Hey I'm a little late to the party, but this particular video has started what is now some kind of tradition. I started by painting a fairy bust for my mom's birthday, and for once I thought I actually did a decent job painting it. She even cried a little. At this point in time, my 3 brothers also each got something I painted, and I made my first diorama for my dad, and they all love it, and not only do they want more, but one of my brothers actually would like to start collecting and painting minis *evil laughter* Plus I get to talk profusely about my passion to an interested audience, and that's pretty cool. So I have you to thank for all that !

I'm still a fairly novice painter, I think I have about 15 minis under my belt now, but roughly a third of those minis were gifts to my friends. I find myself so much more motivated to paint well when someone else will enjoy it than my own. I wish I was better to make it an actual good present, but they always seem to like it regardless, which makes all the frustration worth it

Great idea dude, I literally just finished a small diorama for my mother, all scratch built including my first attempt at sculpting a miniature of her grandfather. Can’t wait to see her reaction. Although after assembling the final product I noticed I’d screwed the scale, model looks about 25% too small 😓 I’d like to start again and get it right, but I’d never finish it before Xmas which is irritating

My mom is also a huge lover of all geeky things; I definitely get it from her. I found a model kit for the 1989 Michael Keaton Batmobile, which is not only her favorite Batman movie, but her favorite version of the Batmobile in general. I was going to paint it for her, but she actually loves crafty things as well, so instead I’m going to gift her the kit AND my time to work with her on painting it. Considering the current cost of ammunition, that was a hell of a present from Darrel. Wish I was on his Christmas list. I really enjoyed watching you work on this, especially where you admitted it wasn't something you'd done before, and pointed out that nature isn't perfect. I'm going to start looking at my mistakes as "giving my models character," rather than a lousy paint job. Watching you and learning from you, I can see a definite improvement in my skills from when I started my army to when I finish them. Am I going to go back and repaint the first ones? Not a chance. Same reason I never rebuilt my first sword. It hangs in a place of honor in my forge, as a reminder of where I started and how far I've come. I'm sure your Mom will love your mini!

Mom appreciates both a good Harlequin model and a clever bit of witchcraft, so I've got an easy task there.

Great gift! I think that as long as receiver is satisfied it's a great gift! In other cases it's better to have additional gift.

My mom is a big LOTR fan so I've been painting the Fellowship for her over the last several years. I was just working on Saruman on horseback when this video popped up. Saruman can wait a few minutes.

Love the Daryl content and your humor as always. You manage to blend(ha! Painting joke!) a lovely and sentimental message while providing lessons and entertainment. You're on poin Jon, great work all around. God bless you and your loved ones. Be well.

You know what I actually might paint one for me mum. I never thought she would actually enjoy it because I couldn’t imagine what she would do with one but I think just having something I spent a couple hours on is enough to make it valuable

That bust looks amazing! I've found 3D printing is also great for gifting minis as there's so many different franchises you can print and paint minis from

haha well done, I did a video on my channel on mothers day for my mom. It was titled " The adult version of a macaroni necklace". She love seahorses, green and the beach so I made an amalgamation of the three. At the end I had to give my best Boston accent and say, "Don't forget to call your mutha"

I made some gifts for my mom, she always showed them to everyone and cared for them. If you haven't, do its awkward but also feels really nice, even tho you know your works every flaw, they love it anyhow. In her last hours, she wanted to see some pictures of my brother, who was on vacation. Do know , if you are lucky, you are everything to her.
