Hi Angela. I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to watercolour painting. I look at beautiful landscape photos and think how can I simplify them and make them into a beautiful watercolour. You've nailed it in you lesson. Thank you! Can't wait to start trying. Francie 🌷👍😃

Thank you Angela! So often I get overwhelmed by a photo and you really got to the essence of the subject. Also the suggestion of the freedom to sketch a subject so many times and learning from each try. You did a brilliant job at conveying the message!

I use a lot of M Graham watercolor paints that have strong pigments that do that spidery thing but I love the movement of the color so I can just roll a brush over it or draw it out if I don't want that look. The honey really makes it move.

Thank you Angela what a wonderful tutorial. Breaking it down step by step gave me a better understanding about simplifying my landscapes. Living in the mountains with all the beautiful scenery can be a little overwhelming to paint. I’m going to look at my photos differently now and start eliminating things

Thank you, once again, Angela, for such an amazing lesson. I really learned a lot from this! I am often challenged with composition, and leading the eye to the correct place in the painting. My paintings can be confusing, as I have too many places for the eye to rest, so thank you for explaining so simply. It is a real challenge for me, so this really helped. You have such a wonderful teaching ability, to simplify and explain how to work on different aspects of what makes a painting work.

I think I am the Queen of " just one more thing", and POOF , one thing to much! Then put it away for a day and come back and try to add some balance. The good news is it's only paper and I can flip it over and paint on the back. Lol. 6 months into this glorious journey and I feel I can keep growing for the rest of my life. Such a happy feeling. Thanks so much Angela for giving people like me such wonderful licence to experiment and not be in a tightly controlled box.💙💚💛💜

I haven’t painted since I took your classes.Been feeling bored and annoyed. Until today, watching your class here!! It is sending me back to what I love the most.watercolor landscapes with no pencils. I feel like I came home to mom.But that can’t be ,as I am a bit older then you. But the feeling inside of me. Thankyou so much.Getting my grove back, thanks to your words I have heard before.,but needed again!! Hugs,Maddy

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing that you often paint the same painting multiple times! I thought that I was the only one who struggled with this. It is so helpful to me to know that even experts refine their work by practicing painting a scene several times. I learn something new with each attempt!

This video is perfect timing for me - I've been participating in World Watercolor Month after being away from painting for the past few months. I picked up some Qor paints when I was in Kelowna last month and they're very new to me, but I painted a picture yesterday with them that I was pretty happy with. I also feel that the challenge this month will encourage me to paint more loosely because of time constraints, and I'm hoping that'll eliminate my habit of overworking pieces. Thank you so much for the wonderful video and instruction! I love the new Qor tins, that would be so useful to have! :)

I am newer than new at watercolor, or any art for that matter. I have been watching all your videos yet hesitant to take the investment plunge for fear I just won’t be succesful. I'm 57 and have never tried my hand in art. Recently I feel my heart longing for it and I love to watch you work. You make it seem so easy. I absolutely LOVE your work. In this painting, how did you think to use purple for the hills beyond the river? I think I would have muddied it up with more green as it appears to me in the photo.

I'm a relative newbie too, and not a young person either. And, I'm here to tell you that it is GREAT FUN to play at any age or skill level. As a way to counter my normal operating mode of attention to detail and getting things just right, I find my creative pursuits, painting included, a great way to let go, have fun and sometimes actually enjoy the outcome as much as the process. It is only paint, paper and time. If you enjoy the time, your on the right track regardless of outcome. Come play with us!

That tension to do well is very uncomfortable and it does not actually help us do better. I was getting nausea from it during the watercolor challenge. I now check in with myself physically to release tension before, during and after. I check in mentally before, during and after to see what my unconscious expectations are and I adjust them accordingly. Feeling better as I keep up this practice.
