Thanks very much for the tip on how to keep viewing the source photo during the painting process. This has vexed me for a while and I feel a bit daft for never having come up with the solution.

Loved it when the shadows on the right went in, then the ping when the shadow of the lamp appeared and then the lamp itself! So atmospheric - a bright afternoon in an everyday street scene.

I've just painted this and did the whole painting with orange and blue (except for the yellow lines) and it worked out fine. Thanks Tim, it wasn't too difficult. Could I request that you do some paintings of Yorkshire? I need to learn how to paint dry stone walls as there's lots around here! I have the photos!

Always such an inspiration. I’d love to know how I can get over the fear I have of that first basic wash where all the paper is covered with areas of different shades. It always looks such a mess, but then the magic happens Tim, every time, as you add your darker values. How can I get over it after taking such care of the drawing, which is not difficult for me?
