I saw this in STO.... it's a variant of the Vesta class. I love that series of ships, and I am not normally into science STO ships, but their abilities when fully collected and utilised always left me wanting more

This was the first t6 ship I bought for sto. I fell in love with the design. It has always looked to me like the head of a spear.

As Star Trek vessels go, it has a *very* aggressive look to it, which sets it apart from the herd. Definitely a 'post-Borg' conflict design. P.S. -- as to the size of flight deck for the shuttle bay, it's large size allows the ship to 'piggy-back' a number of the larger shuttles to assist in it's recon role.

The Aventine is one class in a group of three that make up the T5-u Multi Mission Explorer Class of ships. One for each career path: Tactical, Engineer, Science. This ship you’re discussing is one of the three T6 versions of the Multi Mission Explorers. The T5s are basically the older Admiral level grade of ship. The T5u designates upgradeable mastery that offered buffs to the ship as you earned experience in it. The T6s came out more recently which was a push sell to new ships by STO. They offer better crew seating, and one extra console slot. Basically they offer the players more powerful classes in the game store for purchase. So in reality this is an upgraded version of the Aventine classes. I own them all and none of them are bad. This one is pretty darn good in the game, its my favorite of the six Multi Mission offerings. The real fun begins when you start customizing the appearance of your ship which gives you six options for your saucer, hull, pylons, and nacelles, not to mention multiple skins. With six ship’s parts to choose from you get anywhere from ridiculous looking to, oh hell yes make way for the next hero of Starfleet! (Thanks for covering this class, there are some really great and some really bad ships in STO).

Its the tier 6 version of the vesta class which is the base model for the aventine. Its primarily a science vessel but has 3 variants.

Of course something to keep in mind with STO ships is that there made for kitbashing. So this being of the Vesta line of ships it need to work as a ship that can kitbash with those. But also offer a very unique style to those ships. If the parts are to similar then is not as fun to make you own thing out of it. Why I like when they do go a bit the extreme with ships. As well as having a more moderate based to. Gives you options. Rather then having 4 different spoon saucer you get one arrow, one spoon, one round, and one blocky saucer. Just a example. Most will prefer one style over the other. But we all have different tastes. ^_^ Of course part of the trick is also making them still work well with each other. It is a balancing act that they sometimes do well in STO and sometimes mess up. Though I do like the Vesta line of ships. Gives you pretty good options for kitbashing.

Sto has quite a few nice designs but so far the tactical command battlecruiser ( presidio class ) has got to be one of my favourites would recommend giving that ship a look

"I'm gettng Aventine vibes ...." GEE, I wonder why! IT'S a GOD DAMN MYSTERY! Who knows! Joking aside: The USS Aventine is a Vesta Class ship. This ship is a Vesta Class Variant.

Not a saucer. Not a spoon. Not a pizza-cutter. A sharp-nosed, rail-splitting wedge, with warp nacelles. The primary hull surrounds the secondary rather than sit above it. When the combat options are reduced to "ramming speed," this thing is going to do a hell of a lot of damage. The Bridge module isn't the usual super-obvious, "Shoot-Me-First" bullseye target like every other Starfleet main vessel has. Maybe it's there, but recesses into the ship during battle mode. The large panels along the wedge are also reminiscent of Admiral Janeway's patent-pending deployable Borg-proof armor modules. If the hulls are capable of separation, I could easily imagine the primary growing itself a pair of nacelles, from somewhere on the ventral side.

I personally think it's a little unfair to compare STO ships with established canon ships since they can be customized and kitbashed essentially changing the ship class entirely. You guys should do videos of viewer submitted ships customized from STO. I for one love seeing what people come up with.

It has that 80's euro econo box feel. Streamlined around cargo capacity with crisp lines. It needs a session in Foose's bodyshop to add swoopiness. It would get more volume and look sleeker. The Andorians probably love the lines of the ship.

Perhaps that deck on the back is like the cargo bay entrance on the undercut on the Excelsior class - and the floor has elevator in it to bring cargo or rock samples or captured ship etc inside - as well as to provide an "instant launch ability" and have a Runabout or Federation scout sit there if it's to large to fit well inside.

T6 Vesta Class version, i got me one as soon as they came out, to upgrade my old Vesta build on my Sci Char and what can i say...combined with Yellowstone Runabouts and some nice Weapons and co...this ship is fun and looks very nice and certainly is a good update on the Vesta in every regard.

When I first saw the ship, I thought if an arrow. FYI-The green marker light on the right matches the red marker light on the left side. Red light is port side, green is starboard side. Been this way for years in current aircraft.

My only problem in the nacelles. They need to be rotated 90° so they're upright. That would change the entire view of the ship and make the rest of the design work together.

I hate the nacelles. I'm a stickler for the old rules, and these break two of them. No line of sight, and the bossard collectors aren't exposed in the front view.

I really wish they'd use/view the ships in game, I feel they lose so much of the feel of the ship by reviewing it like a TV ship.

Seven of the initial Vesta class ships were named after the seven hills around Rome (according to the books). When two of those hills are named Aventine and Palatine, there's a clue about their relation ;)

It's an interesting ship and will be an interesting eaglemoss model down the line.

I think angling the nacelle pylons back and up would improve the look, Among other things would make it look. i.e. drop into the Ship Tailor and swap the pylons for Vesta or Rademaker ones.

TBH, to me, with that wide open landing bay it kinda looks like it could be a carrier than anything else. I can see a number of small fighters or shuttles fitting there quite well

It a good design. To me, it looks like the shape of the Prometheus in the style of the Aventine with Voyager's pylons. The lack of LOS on the nacelles bugs me a bit, and the nacelles seem a bit too small for the ship (imho). The area above the shuttle bay seems to have engineering stuff - plasma vents, etc, - but the windows on the sides imply that there are rooms there. I like the design of the deflector but agree with Stuart that it should be more forward. I like the way the forward torpedo tubes angle down a bit (clever way to integrate them). I like the color scheme for a game, but those dark areas just turn solid black when you render them with realistic lighting (so they work better if used sparingly).

If a fleet of these showed up to face of against the romulans, with riker in command of the enterprise e leading them it would've been a better visual treat.😎🖖

You need to look at a KZfaq video of the Riker fleet arriving in picard but with vfx fixed the video is really great to see.

This ship is saying, "Hi! Im sexy and really really sharp"

At first glance at the video thumbnail I saw the red glow just fowards of the nacelles and saw the bluish white reflections so assumed it was an additional nacelle, leading me to the conclusion that it was a varient of the Promethius, but looking for a bit longer I noticed the intrepid style nose section with the orange striping, hinting at a secondary deflector dish, and the raised walls around the shuttle bay launch area which is very reminicent of the Intrepid, except being way too long, so my first guess, before watching much of the video would be an Intrepid decendant with much more of a combat focus. I do not like the side view, it looks fine from all other angles, but it is not what I would consider to be a great looking ship.

I will probably "purchase" this ship with my T6 coupon. But I'll most definitely be using the Aventine or Vesta skin.

I have an idea, how about they design ships that follow the design rules.

I think the secondary hull should either be pushed back to look like Voyager or stretched out to the stern. Where the hull comes down at amidships just looks stupid to me.

The V saucer like section is a little big. Scaling it back or even giving it an Enterprise E oval would make it pop. Or make the nacelles 1/3 longer. It seems imbalanced. Top view gives it a Star Destroyer vibe.

just a thought, but no mention of any functional bias that makes it a "Reconnaissance Destroyer". That's a contradiction in terms in itself. Destroyers were fleet protection while Frigates took on the scouting role until that in turn became the role of light cruisers. Is it stealthy? Fast? Enhanced sensor suites? Form follows function and not understanding what it's meant to do makes it pretty hard to assess the design.

I dunno, I think that scale is off... if you look at the number of decks as indicated by the windows (plus escape pods), this has got to be closer to the ballpark of the Intrepid class.

One of the other Tier 6 variants of this starship has a much better shape (less pointy saucer) and better looking nacelles in my opinion. The Esquiline Multi-Mission Strategic Explorer. Search for it, Sam!

Those shuttle bay doors are huge relative to the scale the ship is suppose to be, unless it has a rack system or something, it just seems to much wasted space.

While I like it in general, it feels like it should be depicting more decks for that size, unless it is intending to only have windows on every other deck. As is they seem like twice or more the height of prime cannon ships. Plus the shuttle bay doors is even way larger than the Galaxy class's massive main shuttle bay doors

I like this ship overall. It looks like someone took the Vesta-Class (USS Aventine) and said "Update the design and emphasis it so tactical missions". The weakest part of the design for me is that rear cutout for the shuttlebay. Can't help but feel that could have been filled in and made into the shuttle bay. That would explain why this ship (in game) has a Squadron of shuttles.

This is an absolutely gorgeous design, and in my opinion way better balanced and more Starfleet-y than the Prometheus!

Am I the only one who originally read that as a Palpatine-class? Given the dagger-style shape a la the Star Destroyer, it wouldn’t be out of character. ;)

I must agree with the captain here, that is a Prometheus - Intrepid hybrid if there ever was one........ it's just that it seams somewhat smaller then either at first glance, especially because of the apparent size of those escape pods and windows. EDIT: STO dropped the ball on this one's size, i mean, how come the Prometheus is a tactical cruiser and this thing, bigger as it is, gets designated a destroyer???

Was this recorded late at night? Capt. Foley seemed tired. I expected a bit more mental sharpness. How do you not see the Aventine first off? It's essentially an Aventine with horizontal struts! Does missing the blue hull like the Aventine make that much difference? ::: Honestly, I watched the whole video just waiting for the epiphany of what it is (aka not a Prometheus family ship) and was disappointed. Secondary deflector should have been a decent clue, imo.

Like it better then the intrepid. Intrepid felt fat in the front. Like the sharp lines

Why did you call it a destroyer? It's an explorer, a higher tiered variant of the vesta class. So, unlike the last ship, this one is a science vessel

I see both of your points. I think it has too much going on. So instead of better textures -it has more greeblies and it is angular instead of smooth. The color pallet is bold but something about it clashes at least in the default skin. I think what's off about the shape is that it looks vaguely runabout like. Also windows...an awful lot of windows. People must spend an awful lot of time gazing out into blackness.

I was thinking. Blackbird interactive is making homeworld 3 and i would love to see you do a more indepth look at the mothership. Maybe see if they would be interested in doing a cross promotion?!

I would really like to see ship names that aren’t of American/West Euro/Earth/Human origins. The new names in PICARD were a refreshing change... Some WWII era Japanese Navy ship names would be neat.... add some Vulcan, Andorian, Terlorite(sp) names for interest... The DS9 runabouts should have had at least one Bajoran river name.

One of the best science ships in the game. One of Vesta family line of ships. Has a landing strip large bay because it's designed to carry Runabouts. The standard hangar pet for the ship is Danube runabouts. I think this is the best of the Vesta line. A science ship with a tactical leaning. Only the new legendary Intrepid is better than this.

Its the Aventine with arrow shaped saucer and flat pylons looking at my eaglemoss model of the Aventine this ship is just a refited Vesta class the side profile and how the secondary hull meets the saucer is identical to the Vesta not and unique design would been better to have it has Aventine refit

My problem with star trek in general is the fact that those nacelles scream easy target. Cut them off and this ship would actually be more impressive in my opinion. Load her up with Voyager upgrade weaponry armor etc and this could be a formidable ship.

I admit I liked the ship more when I thought it was all pointy, spearlike and small. As big as it is it looks ... not so good. More like a buffed-up-version from a smaller ship they upsized without watching for scale. Especially the name sounds more like a small raider/recon ship and not a big Dreadnought like that one. P.S. And of course a bridge should be as deep in the bowels of the ship as possible ... and yes I know thats against one of G.R.s rules.
