You do realize the writers had to make her say something like that so that the guy himself takes the initiative & announces that he wants to speak to the "office administrator", a non-existent post in that office? The line, though, suits Erin. Also, in other scenes, Erin does in fact takes help of others when such things happen at the reception desk. The Office show is made up of amazing little hidden subtle things. But not everything is. This particular 'subtlety' was an explicit need of the script to proceed to the next plot point.

@@ATV-sy2ri When we are seeing Pam, we can also see Gabe's notebook screen on stand-by mode, showing nothing. Of course, Gabe is bluffing. As he has no actual proof that Pam is lying, if she confesses, he could use that as grounds for punishment. That is because Gabe is afraid of upper management, and is unable to stand up to himself in front of people with high positions, but, if Pam confesses, he will realize that she would be below him. Pam is a smart person and know Gabe has no grounds to stand in. She calls his bluff, and he backs off. He didn't want to make any statement because he's afraid that, if she actually was an Office Administrator, she could use that to punish him. Again, he is afraid of people with high positions. The idea is to create value or/and solve a problem. After years of using a computer (out of interest), I got really good. I wouldn't say a computer graduate level, but it was enough for a small recruitment agency. They needed someone to handle their IT stuff: printing, designing (flyers, posters, adds, etc), manage their Data, help in online applications on the gvt portals, sign people up on Gmail etc. I started when they sent me an Ethernet cable, then fixed the router, then connected the security cameras, then setting up the computers and cable management... Without realizing, I landed myself a job as 'IT SUPPORT' midst the pandemic. I'm currently learning coding and design to later apply for Front-end dev jobs.

Those who work for corporations know very well how true it is. You either get promotion via opening or you come up with the new position :D

It's amazing it took 7 seasons for an office administrator or manager position became available. I wonder if the writers realised this and thus wrote Pam in to the role...

This position never existed. Pam created it and put herself in charge

@@danielkhokhlovich7146 They probably meant how office administrators are a thing in real life, but there weren't any written into the show (sometimes OAs are also receptionists but they're still different jobs).

Pam was so brave. I would cave when Gabe ask her to admit. She stood her ground, she risked Gaba accusing her, it's 50:50 chance haha. She deserved that job, I guess.

For those of you who don’t know, this works. I’ve done this my entire career. Just make up jobs that nobodies doing, 3 years ago I created a job that I wanted to do more. When I moved companies last year I got the same position I made up at my last company; but I didn’t like it at the new company so I made up a different one and because my branch’s h.r guy had left it worked again.

Michael's way of signature is look like when teacher give you signature without looking your mistakes in lab record.

I mean, when the guy asked who was the office admin, everybody looked to Pam and I think expected her to handle the guy. She handled Michael's shenanigans for years as well.

I forgot how weak is that Gabe character. Good actor.
