This is a slow breakdown of the Jab-Cross Counter Series from Guro Ron Balicki's Filipino Boxing DVD Series. This set combines some of the most fundamental movements of Panantukan and organizes them in a practical manner for the practitioner. It is something I practice religiously! Anything I should watch to improve better? Like some one I could look up? Or other training stuff I can do by my self since I don't have a sparing partner

+Aizeula Ivari You can check out my Solo Impact Drills to help you develop some basic motions. Also you should be shadowboxing every day. Once you can get a training partner then you will be ready to apply the techs naturally. Check out Guro T. Kent Nelson of KSK. He has a great library of free material on his YT Channel. nice! what style is this? i studied balintawak eskrima for a bit but didn't get to the unarmed techniques because i had to discontinue to focus on my school program.

This style of Panantukan comes from the Lacoste lineage by way of Guro Dan Inosanto and Guro Ron Balicki. You can check out Guro Ron's Filipino Boxing DVD Series... it is the best source to learn Panantukan from if you don't have a teacher. Thanks for commenting!

I have always wondered.... How do you apply this techniques if you do not know that the oponent is going to atack you with a jab-cross? You know, like in a real fight.

The purpose of these drills is to apply the gunting, which is a tool to bridge the gap and allow you to crash in with an elbow strike or eye jab. Whether the opponent throws directly or wide, the entry should still be able to deflect and help you establish a pathway to either the outside or center line. Doesn't always work during the chaos of a fight, so you need to be prepared to punch and kick your way out.

Your partner fails to attack from a proper distance, as a consequence your defense fails too. You're reaching for his jab: if he knows how to box you'll eat a hook and all the fancy techniques you practiced will go out the window. Panantukan is boxing first and foremost: if there isn't a good boxing foundation the gunting, eye jabs, hacks etcetera are pretty much useless.
