lumix s5 for sure the best cost benefit on the market. I bought this camera more than a year ago and it really was the best thing I did, I recently bought the Sony a7iv more for the photos and auto focus but I still love my s5

Well, at least the built in microphones on the S5 are better. Otherwise it is hard to compare in auto everything mode. Different exposures, different picture profiles. The S5 needs to crop to APS-C to do 4k@60fps, so you're losing some light there but I didn't see any noticeable noise. Question is, is the A7S3 really worth over twice as much to you as the S5?

Yes, for me. The a7siii has 4k 60p and 4k 120p without cropping, the ISO from 12,800 in Slog-3 is great, the dual ISO helps a lot with the dynamic range, the autofocus especially at night, 422 10 Bit vs 420 10 Bit and recording without time limit.

Excuse me. S5 chroma sampling is 4:2:0, colors are slightly degraded. Also, the APS-C crop reduces the dynamic range, but it doesn't look much different. Well done Pana.

Exposure doesnt match. You need to turn DOWN exposure on the S5 for a valid comparision. also whats the ISO levels here? with that higher exposure on the S5 ISO must be much higher than the A7S iii

This is COMPLETELY beside the point, but I want to learn something here... I would have thought that f1.8 on a full frame sensor would create a shallow depth of field, but it looks like everything is in pretty good focus. Why?

depth of field only applies to objects close to the camera view. when the objects are further in view, everything is in focus. unless you zoom in on an object or get closer to it to bring it larger in view. secondly, he used automatic, so probably the camera would just pick any aperture.

I can’t judge about the noise level as I watched the video on iPhone and couldn’t see any. But the footage out of the S5 seems to be exposed slightly brighter (too bright actually) so that the DR of the A7Siii looks much wider/better. Btw, if you filmed 60fps, then the S5 is impossible to be 4:2:2 as you wrote (but 4:2:0 „only“; the 4:2:2 is available up to 30fps on this camera)!

You are absolutely right, it is filming at 30 FPS, I wrote 30FPS in the description, but I wrote 60 fps in the text of the video wrong. it is my mistake. this was at 30fps. I'm very sorry.🙏🙏🙏🙏

@@tecniralph , I rewatched your video on my 27 inch monitor and I could see more details and more noise in shadows in the A7Siii footage. (Almost) No noise but also no details in the very dark areas in the S5 footage. I also have an S5 but, filming in V-Log, I’ve never had such high contrasted scenes!… I liked the color reproduction of Sony a little bit better (interestingly, I prefer the Panasonic color science in the daylight, but the WB in night scenes of S5 isn’t so good…. But the lantern “stars” in your S5 footage are much nicer than in A7Siii !

whats smarter buy lumix s5 + lumix pro lens for 3k or a7s iii + cheap 500 dollar lens for 3k when it goes on sale. That is the question I must answer

If you don't need autofocus or 4k 120p, the s5 is the best option!

S5. Ppl exaggerate about how bad the automatic focus is. It’s not top tier but it’s definitely useable

Not a good test at all if your running anything in Auto. The S5 looks over exposed to me btw.

At 4k 30fps I prefer Panasonic but at 4k 60fps Sony is the best option because there is no cropping. Panasonic picture quality for that price range is great
