This radio has now been professionally realigned and completely re-capped By an engineering friend of mine. Now one of the hottest receivers I own.

I own this radio also it's really unique and very rare radio, but I awesome sound and operating excellent, this bought it 800$ years ago, have been with radio 10 years and only saw less than 10 pcs of this radio on sales, and 2 of my friends also own them, and it's out greast collect radio, we are the fans of Panasonic and worldwide radio receivers. Cheers who got this radio.

Magnificent Thanks.Never seen them over here in NewZealand. Excellent receiver from National Panasonic. They just dont make them the same anymore. Hard to buy any good SW receiver here.

Jungle Man yes, I agree. Even the great Grundigs are cheaply made nowadays. I always thought that the Satellit 3400 was a masterpiece and you will never see radios like that ever again.

Hi Jungle man. I am also from New Zealand. I use to work for Fisher & Paykel in the early 70s. Use to assemble a lot of National a Panasonic appliances, including radio cassettes. There is a 400 being advertised on Trade Me at the moment. But shall wait till the end of the year when I’m financial to buy a 2200 or similar. Have you had any luck yourself ? Great radio when it came out in late 80s - 90s very expensive new and a excellent radio as a portable short wave radio l would give it 5 stars out of 5 it gives table top ssb and excellent selectivity neally as good as the sony crf 320 and the top lcom receivers but not not as good as racal or kenwood or the eddy stone communications marine and commercial receivers but still a really great receiver one of the best portables ever made

@Canh Hoa Bat Diet I thought you might have been a collecter of Panasonic Radios. Now I have mostly sony, Grundig and Sangean. Believe this or not here in Germany Panasonic Radios hard not easy to find. It seems Germans didnt much care for them. I have found Panasonic produced some nice Shortwave and multi band radios. I like the sound quality, but I only going on what I hear on KZfaq. Many SWLers dont have way to do proper test. With my radios I can only go by what I hear and see. I misunderstood your meaning in the first comment. I apologise and wish you Happy Dxing Mr Diet.

I like the look of the National Panasonic RF 600B.But I was told,this model was not tuned top dead center at factory.Meaning for an offical frequency eg... 8.867mgs USB (Aircraft), to get audiable speech you would need to tune way off the offical frequency.I owned the RF 49,far older model analoge ,with frequency counter.The BFO was so accurate,I didnt need to go off any frequency.

Beautiful transistor radio. Sadly these are not manufactured these days and Panasonic is slowly coming out of consumer electronics because most of the Japanese electronic giants are in financial trouble.

Pansonic was good back in the day..also Hitachi...But It is all AM and FM now...No Short Wave...i would think all Japanese Made would have it

I have one very much like this one but the model name is RF-6300L The lettering to the right of the volume knob has the big letters DR Q63. I dont see any other differences...

They only made this radio for two years in the '80's. So they are somewhat scarce.

How would you rank the top 5 (looking for AM distance) radios on eBay?

I can't say the top five, everyone has their own opinion. But for my experiences, the Panasonic RF-2200 is a top performer on AM broadcast bands. And, additionally, the best receivers for AM that I currently own are my Satellit-2100 and Satellit-3400. I prefer the analog receivers for tuning around the AM band. Also, the Satellit-2100 outperforms all my other receivers on longwave, as a matter of interest.

My RF 6300lbs lost its frequency display connection to its dial, I’ve checked for shorts and broken parts; none were found; any suggestions on why the dial isn’t responding to the display?

I want to get .my Paws on one of these!!!...I have the Sony icf7600...it iS great on SSB Air....never seen this one before Cool Set....What happened to Sony thay don't make stuff.like thay used to...it is All AM and FM now

Unfortunately "time" has taken it's toll on shortwave listening as well. Very few stations in English still on the air as everything has gone to the internet. That makes sets like this more of a collectable unless you listen to amateur bands.
