It pains me so much that Evan, with the smaller-style pancakes, had the large frying pan, and Dan, with the larger-style pancakes, had the small frying pan.

I personally find American pancakes way too thick and heavy. I love how light British pancakes are - it means on pancake day I can have about 4-6 with tons of different toppings. Classic (not icing) sugar and lemon, nutella and strawberries, syrup ect. I can make my pancakes as unhealthy as possible on my own terms, haha. Not to mention savoury pancakes!
@SuperT
@SuperT 6 жыл бұрын
The thickness is determined by the ratio of flour/pancake mix:milk. If the milk is greater hen the amount of flour/mix. They will be thinner. Thick = Big/Small Thin = Small/Big

TECHNICALLY, they’re not even pancakes. They’re Crépes. You eat crépes the same or in a very similar way. You have sweet crépes with sugar and chocolate, and savory crépes with ham and cheese and whatever else. So British pancakes aren’t pancake, but are, in fact, crépes.

Bisquick is not instant pancake mix. Note the name. It's a shortcut for making American biscuits (crumpet, sort of). Mainly flour, fat, salt, and baking powder. You have to add the milk and eggs. But we do have brands of "complete" pancake mix, which has everything in it and you only need to add water.

Just because Evan’s had a lot of sugar on doesn’t mean you can’t do that with our British pancakes!! You can put all sorts like Nutella, granulated sugar (or icing sugar on top), lemon juice, syrup, whipped cream, sprinkles, fruit etc or have savoury ones. Our pancakes are the best as you can have sooo many options including fat. Also, for pancake day we can do it in school as they’re so easy and flexible with toppings (pancake day in primary school was one of the best days!) I personally out of both do prefer our British pancakes as the American ones don’t look appealing to me and if I want something like that I can get a scotch pancake (with butter of course!). This is just my opinion so no hate to anyone who prefers American ones. Love this style of video Evan!

That’s EXACTLY what a crépe is if you go to France. I’m French, and I have lived in both America and France, and British Pancakes are LITERALLY the definition of a crépe. You eat them very similarly too. You have sweet and savory. So they’re not pancakes, just crépes England tries to claim their own by calling it something else. Americans call them crépes, as they should. All for American pancakes, but I actually don’t like syrup all that much. Just a little dip at most. And Aunt Jemima’s sucks.
@neganssavior9327

Traditionally, with the British pancakes, they're meant to be rolled up, like Dan did when he ate his. That way you aren't just eating one thin layer...and it becomes thicker and so a bit more like the US one. Many years ago, I remember having them with sugar and lemon juice, or cocoa/chocolate powder, or Golden Syrup, among the many different possible variations.

North American styled pancakes for sweet pancakes, but made from scratch and with real male syrups straight from the tree, not Aunt Jemima which is mostly corn syrup rather than maple syrup; but I go for crêpes if I want savoury pancakes. I make them with spinach, cheese, and ham and wrap them up like a wrap. Never would I think of putting lemon juice and sugar on a crêpe, only fruit, honey, syrup, or condensed milk if I wanted it sweet.

This a such a poor representation of american pancakes. I mean come on you used "Pancake Syrup" instead of real maple syrup! Don't even get me started on boxed pancake mix!...It's just so wrong. That's actually a complaint I have about a lot of the "American vs British" series. It seems like the scales are tipped in the British favor.

I always put cheese and a bit of ketchup into pancakes. Then you roll it and.... yum. Or when you roll spinach into the pancakes and then you bake them with cheese on top - double yum. That's the magic of pancakes - the pancake itself is the base you can put anything into (or onto, but a pancake that isn't rolled isn't a pancake), and while pancakes with jam and/or other sweet stuff are more popular, I prefer the salty ones. I can't imagine how you would do that with the so-called American 'pancakes'. For me, the pancakes are the winner. And now I really want a pancake.
