When patients diagnosed with cancer are admitted to the hospital, many times we see them at their lowest. From chemotherapy and radiation treatments to surgeries and diagnostic test. It can be an emotional roller coster for not only the patient but also all of their loved ones… including their medical staff…
I remember about 2 months ago, I was feeling down. Normally I’m an extremely upbeat person. However, working on the oncology unit was taking it’s tole on me. I realized, that I was mistakingly focusing on some of the patients who didn’t make it. Unfortunately, many of the patients who recover fully do not make their ways back in the the hospital. I can’t blame, the hospital would not be high on my list also.
Recently, I attended a fundraising event with my husband and I heard a beautiful dynamic speaker by the name of Camille. Don’t tell anyone, but I actually cried while she was talking…
By the time she finished speaking, I knew I had to ask her to share her story on my channel. I waited for 2 hours to talk with her and after the crowds had died down, she graciously accepted my offer.
Spending time with Camille was like taking a breath of fresh air. Imagine walking into someones home for an interview and a bubbly 60 year old greets you with tons of energy, gorgeous hair and a wholesome outlook and love for life. This is who Camlile is, just a loving bundle of joy - I left her house inspired and grateful. I hope you feel the same way after listening to her story.
Camille was given one of the worst diagnosis… Had I been reading her chart, I unfortunately would have not spent too much time with it… I have never met anyone that survived Pancreatic Cancer, much less; Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer with metastasis aka METS. The first doctor she went to told her that she that with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer with spots on in her lungs, liver and kidneys; there was nothing they could do and she was to go home and prepare to die.
However, one thing that she strongly recommends is to get a second opinion, which is what she did. She went to University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer center. She found a doctor that believed in her and she trusted him.
She will be the first to tell you that her story is not the norm and oftentimes told me how it hurts her to know that many others have had the same diagnosis and not the same outcome. However, her main focus is to share that no matter how bad things seem, you can always and MUST always have hope. Thankfully Camille is not alone these days. Thanks to advanced research and better treatment options. The bike ride event that Camille and I speak about in the video is a Fundraising event. Events like these help organizations raise money to continue research and be positioned to deliver specialized treatment options. Each persons cancer is different and events like these help us do a small part to help ensure much needed progress.
I hope you decide to join us. Please read bike ride information below and email me with any questions:
Caroline@EmpoweRN.com
See you soon!
xoxo
~Caroline
Fundraising Bike Ride Information:
Please join Camille and I February , 11th 2017 for the fundraising bike ride. If you click on the link below scroll down to a button that says “Join My Team.”
After you click on the button, you will be taken to another page that gives you multiple options on different fundraising activities. Camille and I will be doing the 14 mile bike ride.
Don’t worry, it is not a race and as long as you have a decent bike you probably do not have to prepare much for it. At least I didn’t lol.
The minimum fundraising donation for the bike ride is $250 - however you can reserve your spot for $150 and raise the rest later if you would like.
All proceeds will be donated to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer which is South Florida's leader in cancer diagnosis and provides state-of-the-art treatment as well as follow-up care.
They also have an advanced research department, which is vital to discovering better treatment options, which in turn will help us save lives.
Here is what I did:
I purchased the $150 bike ride fee. Then, I purchased two of the $50 Counting Crows concert tickets. I went last year and it was a lot of fun, so I think it is worth the money anyways. Then, just to start my page I paid an additional $10, this is not necessary though.
Since I did this last year I know how much fun it is going to be, so I hope you decide to join Camille and I!
fundraisers.hakuapp.com/teams...
By the way, if you only want to donate… every single dollar helps! No donation is too small.
Thank you for watching and thank you Camille for sharing your beautiful energy and message of hope to us all.
Happy Holidays,
~Caroline

I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on the 9th of November 2022. I’m still in shock. I will fight this till my last breath. Can’t believe that I have it. No side effects nothing apart from pain on the side of my abdomen. I’m still young. I’ve got a full life ahead of me. I’m scared but so angry that this is happening to me. Can’t wait to start chemo. Please keep me in your thoughts. 💜

My best buddy just died from pancreas cancer. He got the horrible news of this cancer. We got him the best help. He had the Whipple surgery and a hurricane was coming our way in Florida. I sent all the women and children to Orlando. He couldn't move so I sucked it up and stayed with my friend. All we had was food, water and tools to dig out if needed. MY BUDDY GEORGE LIVED FOR 10 YEARS. WHAT A TROOPER HE WAS . I MISS HIM WITH ALL MY HEART. NEAL

My beautiful hubby just very recently died from pancreatic cancer ♋️ We had no idea, on our first visit he was told he may have cancer. On second visit two days later, we were told he had ‘end of life’ cancer! It was in the liver, lungs & within one & a half weeks in the stomach lining! He was given no treatment as such because there was nothing anyone could do. He got pneumonia etc., within just under eight weeks he had died. I’m lost without him, we were together forty four years this year! R.I.P my authentic, intelligent, beautiful, generous man! 💔

My husband, of 30 years, just got diagnosed w/Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. He is 61. It has spread to his lungs and liver. We have an appointment w/the Oncologist 1/03/22. 🙏🏻 we both got Covid after Thanksgiving. He got past it. I got an pneumonia and was in the hospital for 9 days w/oxygen. I was released 12/14/21 w/oxygen. I couldn’t even go w/him to his doctor appointment the day they told him. I was on the phone w/him but I wished he had not been alone. I’ve made a change to his diet to smoothie’s, chicken, fish, fresh fruits & vegetables. Nothing fried or processed and he has been eating and holding it down so his strength has improved. He still goes to work, this week he’s on vacation. This video has been very encouraging.

Congratulations, you are taking the best solution, just eat everything like rice, beans, meat, etc, just everything to be able to have enough energy during chemo, but don't eat sugar because all your starchy food contain sugar already. Chemo has been updated and no longer like before and all the side effects will go away after chemo, so don't be afraid. My neighbour received chemo 5 years ago and today she is still alive and Cancer free. Don't forget to pray always because our Lord Jesus is the beginner and the finisher of everything and there is a divine power in prayer.

My mom was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer on 4th January 2022. Sugery was not an option because of the location of the tumor. She started chemotherapy about 2weeks from diagnosis and it wasn't easy...chemotherapy brought about other complications including heart complications, neurological complications and she became diabetic...it was difficult very difficult time...after 5 sessions of chemotherapy the doctor advised that the cancer had metastasized that was in early May...we lost her on 17th June 2022. She was diagnosed in 2014 at stage 3. She had whipple surgery but looking back we think maybe she shouldn't have had it because she had multiple digestive complications afterwards. Her deathwas and still is devastating to me and my only brother. We miss her so much! Thank you so much for all you are doing to bring much needed awareness to this disease.

I was diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer 1/1/19. Told if I didn’t do chemo and surgery I would last about a year. I had heard about Rick Simpson oil and decided not to do chemo and surgery, but to do the oil instead. THC works through apoptosis. It doesn’t kill the cancer cells, but reprograms them to die on their own. I did the program and 11months later I feel fine. I cut sugar, alcohol, wheat, white potatoes and rice from my diet on 1/2/19 and still follow that program. I’ll have to do a gram of Rick Simpson oil a month for the next 5 years, but I don’t mind. I decided to make short videos of my progress and share them on Utube. I am 76. I honestly think the chemo would have killed me.

The purest concept of bravery exist in the actions of those who despite being afraid, fight with all the got, fight with the conviction as if the objective is in sight and victory assured, even if is not. Everyday heroes are more meaningful than iconic ones.

I can agree in getting at least two, if not three opinions on scans. I've seen cancers missed on scans a few times. One time it took 4 opinions before a radiologist picked up the tumor. And with pancreatic cancer well - the earlier the better - which is Especially true for pancreatic cancer. For treatment likewise, get at least two options, and dont forget adjunct treatment like IV vitamin C, or IV alpha lipoic acid - which have been shown to lower side effects, and also greatly improve the efficacy of chemo.

Cancer is just a symptom of a way of living that is making your body out of balance. It is not the issue - however, most people do not survive chemotherapy/radiation or live past 5 years. Lifestyle changes need to be made - basic clean diet and job, partners, family dynamics, beliefs, getting enough exercise and sunshine. Your body knows how to heal itself.

not just chemo my friend immune therapy proton and radiotherapy and targeted therapy as well as nutritional studies and patient management have greatly increase the survival rate for pancreatic cancer this illness have always been elusive and difficult to treat using traditional therapy options are limited the pancreases it self act as a shield against treatment in 2014 the median 5 year survival rate for all pancreatic cancer is 4 percent 2020 is 10 percent it use to be 1 percent from 1970 until 2005 nothing seems to work and we saw a 4 fold jump from 2004-2014 and we say an extra 6 percent in just 6 years only recently we are starting to crack the armor of the this stubborn cancer i expect to see at least double the survival rate for patient being treated today i expect to see 20 percent in 2025 and if we are lucky we can maintain the momentum i expect by 2030 we might finally turn the corner at achieve 50 percent 5 year and above survival rate i hope by 2050 we can cure all or at least control all form of cancer so it would not lessen the life expectancy.
